Background & Aims: Antiviral therapy improves the clinical outcomes of patients with chronic hepatitis B (CHB), including those with cirrhosis. In the present study, we validated the Baveno VII definition of recompensation and explored the criteria for stable improvement of liver function tests in entecavir-treated patients with CHB-related decompensated cirrhosis.

Methods: In this multicentre prospective study, patients with decompensated (ascites) CHB-related cirrhosis were enrolled and treated with entecavir for 120 weeks.

Persistent immune activation, which occurs during the whole course of HIV infection, plays a pivotal role in CD4 T cells depletion and AIDS progression. Furthermore, immune activation is a key factor that leads to impaired immune reconstitution after long-term effective antiretroviral therapy (ART), and is even responsible for the increased risk of developing non-AIDS co-morbidities. Therefore, it's imperative to identify an effective intervention targeting HIV-associated immune activation to improve disease management.

Background: In the big data era, patient-based real-time quality control (PBRTQC), as an emerging quality control (QC) method, is expanding within the clinical laboratory industry. However, the main issue of current PBRTQC methodology is data stability. Prognostic value of neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio and lactate dehydrogenase in melanoma patients treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Background: Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) showed promising therapeutic efficacy on melanoma. Neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and serum lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) showed predictive values on prognosis of various tumors, but not on melanoma yet. This meta-analysis was conducted to investigate the prognostic role of NLR and LDH levels in melanoma treated with ICIs.

The differences between Chinese herbal medicine (CHM)- and Western medicine (WM)-induced liver injury have rarely been reported. Our aim was to investigate the clinical features of patients with drug-induced liver injury (DILI) caused by CHM or WM. The medical records of 726 DILI patients were retrospectively collected at Peking University First Hospital from January 1995 through August 2019.

Correlation between hepatic venous pressure gradient and portal venous pressure gradient in hepatitis B cirrhosis with different hepatic veins anatomy.

Purpose: The hepatic venous pressure gradient (HVPG) has been employed as the gold standard for indicating the portal venous pressure gradient (PPG) in the diagnosis of portal hypertension (PHT). However, little has been reported on whether the HVPG can accurately estimate the PPG in patients with hepatic vein collateral shunts. We aimed to explore the correlation between the HVPG and the PPG in hepatitis B cirrhosis patients with different hepatic vein anatomies.

IP-10 Interferes With the Antiviral Response of Direct-Acting Antiviral Agents for Hepatitis C Virus Infection.

Background: Increased interferon (IFN)-gamma inducible protein-10 (IP-10) level has been shown to be associated with sustained virologic responses (SVRs) to pegylated interferon-alpha 2a/ribavirin-based therapy in patients with chronic hepatitis C (CHC). We investigated the relationship between IP-10 and treatment response in patients with CHC treated with direct-acting antiviral agents (DAAs) therapy.

Methods: We measured the dynamic changes of IP-10 in samples from 90 patients with CHC.
