Integration of hepatitis B virus (HBV) DNA into the human genome is recognized as an oncogenic factor and a barrier to hepatitis B cure. In the study, biopsy liver tissues were collected from adolescents and young adults with acute HBV infection younger than or equal to 35 years of age and from HBV-infected infant patients younger than or equal to 6 months of age. A high-throughput sequencing method was used to detect HBV DNA integration.

July 2024

Department of Center of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, Peking University Ditan Teaching Hospital, Beijing, China.

Background And Aim: The role of C6ORF120 in promoting CCL4-induced hepatic fibrosis and its possible mechanisms were explored in C6orf120 knockout rats (C6orf120) and LX-2 cells (a type of human hepatic stellate cell line).

Methods: In vivo experiments, wild-type and C6orf120 rats were used to investigate the function of C6ORF120. In the in vitro experiments, C6ORF120 recombinant protein (rC6ORF120) at a concentration of 200 ng/mL was used to stimulate LX-2 cells.

Alcohol consumption and metabolic syndrome(MetS), both prevalent in the general population, frequently co-occur. They are recognized as significant contributors to liver dysfunction, yet their combined effect is often challenging to delineate. This study delves into the compounding influence of alcohol consumption and metabolic disorder on liver dysfunction within an elderly demographic in Zhejiang Province, China.

Beyond the Burden: A Qualitative Inquiry into the Experiences of Chinese Informal Caregivers for People Living with HIV or AIDS.

Patient Prefer Adherence

March 2024

Administrative Office of Hospital, Beijing Friendship Hospital, Capital Medical University, Beijing, 100050, People's Republic of China.

Purpose: Informal caregivers are defined as families or close friends of patients, which take considerable responsibilities for providing care to people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA). Although there have been a number of studies in caregiver of PLWHA, research studies that sought to quantify the effects of informal caregiving for the caregivers failed to successfully provide empirical understanding of the nature of caregiving experience. Therefore, this study adopted a qualitative approach to explore the experiences and feelings of caregivers of PLWHA during the long-term care process.

The integrate profiling of single-cell and spatial transcriptome RNA-seq reveals tumor heterogeneity, therapeutic targets, and prognostic subtypes in ccRCC.

Cancer Gene Ther

June 2024

National Key Laboratory of Intelligent Tracking and Forecasting for Infectious Diseases, Beijing Ditan Hospital, Capital Medical University, Beijing, 100015, China.

Clear-cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) is the most common type of RCC; however, the intratumoral heterogeneity in ccRCC remains unclear. We first identified markers and biological features of each cell cluster using bioinformatics analysis based on single-cell and spatial transcriptome RNA-sequencing data. We found that gene copy number loss on chromosome 3p and amplification on chromosome 5q were common features in ccRCC cells.

Purpose: The aim of the study is to identify and evaluate multifaceted factors impacting the survival of elderly cirrhotic HCC patients following ablation therapy, with the goal of constructing a nomogram to predict their 3-, 5-, and 8-year overall survival (OS).

Patients And Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 736 elderly cirrhotic HCC patients who underwent ablation therapy between 2014 and 2022. LASSO regression, random survival forest (RSF), and multivariate Cox analyses were employed to identify independent prognostic factors for OS, followed by the development and validation of a predictive nomogram.

Background Aims: The Revised Electronic Causality Assessment Method (RECAM), a computerized update of the Roussel Uclaf Causality Assessment Methodology (RUCAM), was recently proposed. In this study, we validated and compared the utility of the RECAM and RUCAM in Chinese patients with a single conventional or herbal agent-induced liver injury.

Methods: In this retrospective multicenter cohort of well-established DILI and non-DILI patients from 5 centers in China, the diagnostic performance of the RUCAM and RECAM was compared by AUC analysis.

Patients diagnosed with early-stage hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and diabetes mellitus (DM) are at a higher risk of experiencing complications and facing increased mortality rates. Hence, it is crucial to develop personalized clinical strategies for this particular subgroup upon their admission. The objective of this study is to determine the key prognostic factors in early HCC patients who received liver resection combined with DM and develop a practical personalized model for precise prediction of overall survival in these individuals.

What Is Already Known About This Topic?: Approximately 50% of patients with mpox are human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-infected globally. Studies have shown that individuals with advanced HIV infection tend to have more severe clinical manifestations and higher mortality rates after mpox infection.

What Is Added By This Report?: The study revealed that individuals living with HIV have a low level of Knowledge, Attitude, and Practice (KAP) towards mpox.
