A novel active Ce-doped TiO (Ti/TiO-Ce) electrode was prepared and evaluated for improvement of the refractory pollutants degradation efficiency in Electrochemical advanced oxidation processes (EAOPs). The results showed that the addition of Ce in Ti/TiO electrode leading to great impact on •OH generation rate and electrode stability compared to pristine Ti/TiO electrode. Ti/TiO-Ce electrode presented efficient oxidation capacity for pharmaceutical pollutant atenolol (ATL) in EAOPs, which could be attributed to the improvement of indirect oxidation mediated by electro-generated •OH, as the amount of •OH production was 16.

Child injury is a significant global health issue that contributes to both morbidity and mortality in children. Children with developmental disabilities are at a high risk for injuries due to a combination of environmental barriers and health conditions. However, little research has assessed the prevalence of injuries among this population in China.

Acidic and alkaline deep eutectic solvents (DESs) pretreatment of grapevine: Component analysis, characterization, lignin structural analysis, and antioxidant properties.

Int J Biol Macromol

May 2023

State Key Laboratory of Biochemical Engineering, Institute of Process Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing 100190, PR China; University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing 100049, China. Electronic address:

Deep eutectic solvents (DESs) have been extensively applied to pretreat lignocellulose; however, comparative research on acidic and alkaline DES pretreatment is relatively lacking. Herein, pretreatment of grapevine agricultural by-products with seven DESs were compared in terms of removal of lignin and hemicellulose and component analysis of the pretreated residues. Among the tested DESs, both acidic choline chloride-lactic (CHCl-LA), and alkaline potassium carbonate-ethylene glycol (KCO-EG) were effective in delignification.

The root rot disease causes a great economic loss, and the disease severity usually increases as ginseng ages. However, it is still unclear whether the disease severity is related to changes in microorganisms during the entire growing stage of American ginseng. The present study examined the microbial community in the rhizosphere and the chemical properties of the soil in 1-4-year-old ginseng plants grown in different seasons at two different sites.

The identification of prognostic genes can help in the clinical management of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). However, there is little overlap in the prognostic genes identified in different NSCLC studies. One reason for this may be the inadequate sample size.

PM varies in source and composition over time and space as a complicated mixture. Consequently, the health effects caused by PM varies significantly over time and generally exhibit significant regional variations. According to numerous studies, a notable relationship exists between PM and the occurrence of many diseases, such as respiratory, cardiovascular, and nervous system diseases, as well as cancer.

Key Laboratory of Agro-products Quality and Safety Control in Storage and Transport Process, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs/Institute of Food Science and Technology, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Beijing, China.

Introduction: Potato tubers have the healing capacity to prevent surface water transpiration and pathogen invasion after mechanical damage. Previous research has shown the inability to form healing periderm in potatoes under low temperatures, but the potential mechanism is still unclear.

Methods: To explore the effects and mechanisms of low-temperature potato healing, wounded potatoes were stored at low temperature (4°C) and room temperature (22°C), respectively.

Key Laboratory of Optic-electric Sensing and Analytical Chemistry for Life Science, MOE, College of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering, Qingdao University of Science and Technology, Qingdao 266042, PR China. Electronic address:

Biothiols mainly include cysteine (Cys), homocysteine (Hcy) and glutathione (GSH), which play an important role in life activities and abnormal changes in their concentrations are closely related to certain diseases. Therefore, the quantitative tracking and analysis of biothiols in living organisms has become a hot research topic in recent years. In this work, a coumarin-based fluorescent probe COUN was designed and synthesized for the comparable color recognition of Cys/Hcy and GSH by introducing the phenylethynyl group as the recognition site of biothiols, which showed significant fluorescence enhancement and green fluorescence under the UV light at 365 nm.

Metallic On-Chip Light Concentrators Fabricated by In Situ Plasmonic Etching Technique.

November 2022

Institute of Analysis and Testing, Beijing Academy of Science and Technology, Beijing 100089, China.

One-dimensional tapered metallic nanostructures are highly interesting for nanophotonic applications because of their plasmonic waveguiding and field-focusing properties. Here, we developed an in situ etching technique for unique tapered crystallized silver nanowire fabrication. Under the focused laser spot, plasmon-induced charge separation of chemically synthesized nanowires is excited, which triggers the uniaxial etching of silver nanowires along the radial direction with decreasing rate, forming tapered structures several micrometers long and with diameter attenuating from hundreds to tens of nanometers.

Robust Approach to Estimating the Stoichiometric Ratio of Supramolecular Complexes Using the Volume of Cross-Peaks in 2D Asynchronous Spectra and the Jonckheere-Terpstra Test.

Beijing National Laboratory for Molecular Sciences, State Key Laboratory for Rare Earth Materials Chemistry and Applications, College of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering, Peking University, Beijing 100871, China.

Estimation of the stoichiometric ratio of a supramolecular aggregate formed by different compounds is very important in elucidating the structure and function of the aggregate. Many spectroscopic methods used to estimate the stoichiometric ratios of coordination complexes become invalid when characteristic peaks of the aggregate overlap with peaks of compounds that form the aggregate. Previously, we combined the asynchronous orthogonal sample design with Job's method to address the abovementioned problem.

Accurate diagnosis and surgical selection of the double-outlet right ventricle (DORV) is both critical and difficult. Virtual models and three-dimensional (3D) printing have been used to provide morphological copies to doctors as reference. However, the existing methods have shortcomings in visualization of the surgical results, optimal surgical design, and accurate surgical scheme measurements.

The electroencephalograph (EEG) microstate is a method used to describe the characteristics of the EEG signal through the brain scalp electrode potential's spatial distribution; as such, it reflects the changes in the brain's functional state. The EEGs of 13 elite archers from China's national archery team and 13 expert archers from China's provincial archery team were recorded under the alpha rhythm during the resting state (with closed eyes) and during archery aiming. By analyzing the differences between the EEG microstate parameters and the correlation between these parameters with archery performance, as well as by combining our findings through standardized low-resolution brain electromagnetic tomography source analysis (sLORETA), we explored the changes in the neural activity of professional archers of different levels, under different states.

After the PBBs pollution incident in Michigan, a large number of studies focused on the exposure of people to 2,2',4,4',5,5'-hexabromobiphenyl (BB-153), but paid less attention to other PBBs congeners in human serum. In this study, three monobromobiphenyls (BB-1, BB-2 and BB-3), five dibromobiphenyls (BB-4, BB-7, BB-9, BB-10 and BB-15), decabromobiphenyl (BB-209) and BB-153 in the serum of the general population in Wuxi from 2012 to 2016 were detected by GC-MS/MS. The most abundant congeners in serum samples were BB-1(median 254 ng·g lw), BB-10 (median 141 ng·g lw) and BB-209 (median 68.

Single-crystal structures of -inositol complexes with erbium ([Er(CHO)(HO)Cl]Cl(HO), denoted ErI hereafter) and strontium (Sr(CHO)(HO)Cl, denoted SrI hereafter) are described. In ErI, deprotonation occurs on an OH of -inositol, although the complex is synthesized in an acidic solution, and the p values of all of the OHs in -inositol are larger than 12. The deprotonated OH is involved in a μ-bridge.
