The regenerative treatment of infectious vertical bone defects remains difficult and challenging today. Current clinical treatments are limited in their ability to control bacteria and infection, which is unfavorable for new bone formation and calls for a new type of material with excellent osteogenic and antibacterial properties. Here a multifunctional scaffold is synthesized that mimics natural bone nanostructures by incorporating silver nanowires into a hierarchical, intrafibrillar mineralized collagen matrix (IMC/AgNWs), to achieve the therapeutic goals of inhibiting bacterial activity and promoting infectious alveolar bone augmentation in rats and beagle dogs.

Circular RNA (circRNA) is a special class of noncoding RNA molecules and the latest research hotspot in the field of RNA. CircRNA molecules have a closed loop structure, which is not affected by RNA exonuclease and has the characteristics of more stable expression. Previous studies have shown that circRNA molecules are rich in microRNA (miRNA) binding sites and act as miRNA sponges in cells.

July 2023

Department of Occupational Health and Environmental Health, School of Public Health, Peking University, Beijing 100191, China.

In this paper, 177 cases of artificial stone-related silicosis in interior decoration workers from Israel, Spain, USA, Italy and Australia were analyzed. Interior decoration workers were from small businesses (or workshops), engaged in kitchen and/or bathroom artificial stone countertops cutting, grinding, polishing and other reprocessing. In the working environment, the content of crystalline silica in artificial stone was more than 70%, and the concentration of silica dust exceeded the relevant standards.

Objective: To elucidate the function of miRNA-337 in the pathogenesis of diabetic nephropathy (DN) and its underlying mechanism.

Materials And Methods: Type 2 diabetes db/db mice were assigned into db/db group, vehicle group, and si-miR group, and age-matched db/m mice were in the db/m group. Differences in mouse serum glucose, body weight, serum creatinine, and albumin/creatinine ratio (ACR) among the four groups were compared at 6 weeks, 10 weeks, 14 weeks, 18 weeks, and 22 weeks of age.

The clinical effect of the single-site laparoscopic herniorrhaphy (SSLH) using needle instruments and double-site laparoscopic herniorrhaphy (DSLH) in the treatment of inguinal hernias in children were compared. A total of 1,010 children with inguinal hernias who were treated in Chao-Yang Hospital from March 2011 to December 2014 were selected. According to the operation method, these children were divided into the single-site group using needle instruments (n=508) and the traditional double-site group (n=502).

Risk factors and clinical outcomes for carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae nosocomial infections.

Eur J Clin Microbiol Infect Dis

October 2016

Department of Clinical Laboratory, Peking University People's Hospital, Beijing, 100044, China.

This study was aimed to determine the risk factors of Carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE) nosocomial infections and assess the clinical outcomes. A case-case-control design was used to compare two groups of case patients with control patients from March 2010 to November 2014 in China. Risk factors for the acquisition of CRE infections and clinical outcomes were analyzed by univariable and multivariable analysis.

Objective: We evaluated the effects of administering oxygen through nasal catheter inside the mask or through the mask on inspired oxygen concentration in order to find better ways of administering oxygen to improve the inspired oxygen concentration in non-invasive positive pressure ventilation (NPPV).

Methods: A human face model was used to simulate the human face, and the model of the double lumen endotracheal tube was used to simulate the bilateral nasal cavity and trachea, and then a model was constructed to allow simulated NPPV. The changes of FIO₂were measured in different pressure (constant tidal volume) and different tidal volume (constant pressure) conditions under the way of administering oxygen through nasal catheter inside the mask or through the mask.

Despite advances in early diagnosis and multimodality therapy for cancers, most of lung cancer patients have been locally advanced or metastatic at the time of diagnosis, suggesting the highly progressive characteristic of lung cancer cells. The mechanisms underling invasiveness and metastasis of lung cancer are yet to be elucidated. In the present study, immunohistochemistry was performed to detect the expression of CXCL16-CXCR6 in human lung cancer tissues.
