Chemo-resistance prominently hampers the effects of systemic chemotherapy to cholangiocarcinoma (CCA). Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been shown to have great importance not only in tumorigenesis but also in therapeutic prognosis. The aim of this study is to investigate the role of lncRNA HOTTIP in the chemo-resistance to cisplatin and gemcitabine (CG) in CCA.

Hepatic sclerosing hemangioma is a rare benign disease that occurs in association with hepatic cavernous hemangioma degeneration and sclerosis. Recent studies have shown that radiofrequency (RF) ablation is an alternative treatment for hepatic cavernous hemangiomas, even for large hemangiomas (≥10 cm). However, RF ablation might not be suitable to treat large sclerosing hemangiomas.

In recent years, radiofrequency (RF) ablation has been increasingly used for treating hepatic hemangiomas attributing to its unique advantages, such as minimal invasiveness, definite efficacy, high safety, fast recovery, and wide applicability. However, complications related to RF ablation had been frequently reported, especially while being used for treating huge hemangioma (≥10 cm). Cautious measures had been taken to prevent the incidence of ablation-induced complications, but still unexpected complications occurred.

Accumulating evidence suggests that noncoding RNAs play a vital role in cancer biology. Circular RNAs (circRNAs), a newly defined class of endogenously widespread noncoding RNAs, have been intensively reported to influence cell function and development, and even cancer prognosis by sponging microRNAs in various types of cancer. Nevertheless, the circRNAs research in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) still remains far insufficient.

Purpose: To investigate the possibility of using radiofrequency hyperthermia (RFH) to enhance intratumoral therapeutic effect of liposomal doxorubicin on hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) via an interventional molecular imaging approach.
Materials And Methods: For both in-vitro confirmation and in-vivo validation, Luciferase/mCherry-labeled human HCC cells (HepG2) and mice subcutaneous hepatic cancer xenografts were treated by: (i) combination therapy of liposomal doxorubicin plus RFH at 42°C; (ii) liposomal doxorubicin alone; (iii) RFH at 42°C alone; (iv) phosphate buffered saline (PBS) as a control. For in-vitro confirmation, MTS assay, confocal microscopy, optical imaging and flow cytometry were used to evaluate and compare cell viabilities and apoptosis among different treatment groups.

Background: The nerve fibre circuits around a lesion play a major role in the spontaneous recovery process after spinal cord hemisection in rats. The aim of the present study was to answer the following question: in the re-control process, do all spinal cord nerves below the lesion site participate, or do the spinal cord nerves of only one vertebral segment have a role in repair?
Methods: First we made a T7 spinal cord hemisection in 50 rats. Eight weeks later, they were divided into three groups based on distinct second operations at T7: ipsilateral hemisection operation, contralateral hemisection, or transection.

The human high-affinity copper transporter 1 (hCtr1) transports both Cu(I) and cisplatin (cDDP). Because Cu deficiency is lethal yet Cu overload is poisonous, hCtr1 expression is transcriptionally upregulated in response to Cu deficiency but is downregulated under Cu replete conditions in controlling Cu homeostasis. The up- and down-regulation of hCtr1 is regulated by Specific protein 1 (Sp1), which itself is also correspondingly regulated under these Cu conditions.

Although radiofrequency (RF) ablation has been accepted as a curative treatment modality for solid organ tumors, intraductal RF ablation for malignant biliary obstruction has not been widely described. The aim of this study was to evaluate the feasibility, safety, and efficacy (in terms of stent patency and survival) of intraductal RF ablation combined with biliary stent placement for nonresectable malignant biliary obstruction. A search of the nonresectable malignant extrahepatic biliary obstruction database (179 patients) identified 18 consecutive patients who were treated with biliary intraluminal RF ablation during percutaneous transhepatic cholangiodrainage and inner stent placement (RF ablation group) and 18 patients who underwent inner stent placement without biliary intraluminal RF ablation (control group).
