Background: Human Papillomavirus (HPV) infection constitutes a significant global public health challenge despite the widespread implementation of vaccination programs, with infection rates persistently high. Recent studies suggest that lifestyle factors including diet quality (DQ) and physical activity (PA) could play a pivotal role in the mitigation of HPV infections. This investigation explored the influence of DQ, PA, and a healthy lifestyle on the incidence of HPV infection in adult women.

The expression and role of SUZ12 in lung adenocarcinoma.

Cancer Med

October 2024

Department of Dermatology, Beijing Anzhen Hospital Affiliated to Capital Medical University, Nanchong Hospital (Nanchong Central Hospital and The Second Clinical Medical School of North Sichuan Medical College), Nanchong, China.

Article Synopsis
  • SUZ12, a core component of the polycomb repressive complex 2 (PRC2), is found to be overexpressed in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD), correlating with worse clinicopathological features and a poorer prognosis.
  • Experimental methods including immunohistochemical staining, qRT-PCR, and western blotting were used to assess SUZ12 expression and investigate its biological functions through both in vitro and in vivo experiments.
  • The study concludes that SUZ12 acts as an oncogene in LUAD by promoting cell growth and invasion while repressing apoptosis, possibly through direct interaction with the Bax promoter and influencing related signaling pathways.

Rationale And Objectives: To construct a model using radiomics features based on ultrasound images and evaluate the feasibility of noninvasive assessment of lymph node status in endometrial cancer (EC) patients.

Methods: In this multicenter retrospective study, a total of 186 EC patients who underwent hysterectomy and lymph node dissection were included, Pathology confirmed the presence or absence of lymph node metastasis (LNM). The study encompassed patients from seven centers, spanning from September 2018 to November 2023, with 93 patients in each group (with or without LNM).

Electronic address:

Objectives: We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis to assess whether patients with connective tissue disease (CTD)-associated interstitial lung diseases (ILD) have an increased prevalence of cardiovascular (CV) disease and to validate associated risk factors.

Methods: The PRISMA guidelines and PICO model were followed. We searched PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library databases, Scopus, and Directory of Open Access Journals from inception to April 2024.

A single-cell transcriptomic study of heterogeneity in human embryonic tanycytes.

Sci Rep

July 2024

National Bioinformatics Infrastructure Sweden (NBIS), Science for Life Laboratory, Lund University, 223 87, Lund, Sweden.

Disruptions in energy homeostasis can lead to diseases like obesity and diabetes, affecting millions of people each year. Tanycytes, the adult stem cells in the hypothalamus, play crucial roles in assisting hypothalamic neurons in maintaining energy balance. Although tanycytes have been extensively studied in rodents, our understanding of human tanycytes remains limited.

Aims: To retrospectively compare the long-term outcomes following atrial fibrillation (AF) ablation between heart failure (HF) with preserved ejection fraction (EF) (HFpEF) and reduced/mildly reduced EF (HFr-mrEF) patients, and to identify novel predictors of adverse clinical events.

Methods: In total, 1402 AF patients with HF who underwent successful ablation were consecutively enrolled. Adverse clinical events including all-cause death, HF hospitalization, and stroke were followed up.

Combined effect of inflammation and malnutrition for long-term prognosis in patients with acute coronary syndrome undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention: a cohort study.

BMC Cardiovasc Disord

June 2024

Department of Cardiology, Center for Coronary Artery Disease, Beijing Anzhen Nanchong Hospital, Capital Medical University, 2 Anzhen Road, Chaoyang District, Beijing, 100037, China.

Article Synopsis
  • Inflammation significantly contributes to atherosclerotic diseases and often aligns with malnutrition, particularly in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) undergoing percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI).
  • A study analyzed 1,743 ACS patients to examine the combined effects of inflammation and malnutrition on long-term cardiovascular outcomes, using specific metrics like the nutritional risk index (NRI) and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP).
  • Findings revealed that patients who were both malnourished and inflamed had more than double the risk of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACEs), highlighting the importance of considering both nutritional and inflammatory factors in ACS management.

Background: The human gut microbiota has been identified as a potentially important factor influencing the development of COVID-19. It is believed that the disease primarily affects the organism through inflammatory pathways. With the aim of improving early diagnosis and targeted therapy, it is crucial to identify the specific gut microbiota associated with COVID-19 and to gain a deeper understanding of the underlying processes.

Background And Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the clinical efficacy and safety of telitacicept in patients with generalized myasthenia gravis (gMG) who tested positive for acetylcholine receptor antibodies or muscle-specific kinase antibodies and were receiving standard-of-care therapy.

Methods: Patients meeting the eligibility criteria were randomly assigned to receive telitacicept subcutaneously once a week for 24 weeks in addition to standard-of-care treatment. The primary efficacy endpoint was the mean change in the quantitative myasthenia gravis (QMG) score from baseline to week 24.

Article Synopsis
  • The meta-analysis aimed to investigate the relationship between vitamin D deficiency and idiopathic inflammatory myopathy (IIM).
  • Five studies involving 286 IIM patients and 480 healthy controls showed that IIM patients had significantly lower vitamin D levels compared to controls and that low vitamin D was linked to higher creatine kinase levels in IIM patients.
  • The findings suggest that vitamin D deficiency may increase the risk of IIM and highlight the need for further research on the potential benefits of vitamin D supplementation for IIM patients.

Qualitative evaluation of connective tissue disease with cytomegalovirus infection: A meta-analysis of case reports.

Semin Arthritis Rheum

April 2024

Department of Rheumatology and Immunology, Nanchong Central Hospital, The Affiliated Nanchong Central Hospital of North Sichuan Medical College, Nanchong Hospital of Beijing Anzhen Hospital Capital Medical University, Nanchong, Sichuan, China; Inflammation and Immunology Key Laboratory of Nanchong City, Nanchong, Sichuan, China; Nanchong Central Hospital, (Nanchong Clinical Research Center), Nanchong, Sichuan, China. Electronic address:

Background: The primary therapies for connective tissue disease include glucocorticoids and immunosuppressants. However, their prolonged usage can precipitate opportunistic infections, such as cytomegalovirus infection. When managing connective tissue disease complicated by cytomegalovirus infection, judicious selection of treatment modalities is crucial.

Background: This prospective, multi-center, intensive monitoring study aimed to systematically assess the occurrence of adverse events (AEs) and adverse drug reactions (ADRs), especially thrombocytopenia and bleeding, as well as their risk factors in Chinese ST-segment elevation myocardial infraction (STEMI) patients receiving bivalirudin as anticoagulant for percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).

Methods: In total, 1244 STEMI patients undergoing PCI and receiving bivalirudin as anticoagulant were enrolled in the present study. Safety data were collected from hospital admission to 72 h after bivalirudin administration; in addition, patients were further followed up at the 30th day with safety data collected at that time.
