Background: The optimal treatment strategy for recurrent hepatocellular carcinoma (rHCC) remains unclear. This study is based on cases of rHCC after liver resection, aiming to evaluate the influence of preoperative risk factors on the long-term prognosis of patients with rHCC by comparing patients who underwent salvage liver transplantation (SLT) with those who underwent repeat hepatectomy (RH).

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 401 consecutive patients with rHCC who underwent SLT or RH between March 2015 and December 2022.

Despite extensive studies conducted on the relationship between serum uric acid (UA) and bone mineral density (BMD), their association remains controversial. In this study, we investigated whether UA levels are independently associated with BMD in Chinese and American populations to elucidate their association. Herein, the data of 12,344 individuals (age > 20 years) from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (2005-2018) and those of 768 individuals from the inpatient medical records and physical examination center systems of the Tertiary Class A Hospital (2021-2023) from China were included.

Background: Pericoronary adipose tissue (PCAT) attenuation, as assessed by coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA), has been identified as a marker of pericoronary inflammation and a predictor of future adverse atherosclerotic events. However, the impact of changes in PCAT attenuation, as evaluated by consecutive CCTAs, on plaque progression in high-risk atherosclerotic patients with improved modifiable cardiovascular risk factors (mCRFs) remains unclear.

Methods: Consecutive patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) who had improved mCRFs and underwent serial, clinically indicated CCTA examinations (time interval ≥ 12 months) at our center between July 2019 and July 2022 were screened.

Rationale And Objectives: This study aims to develop a radiopathomics model based on preoperative ultrasound and fine-needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) images to enable accurate, non-invasive preoperative risk stratification for patients with papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC). The model seeks to enhance clinical decision-making by optimizing preoperative treatment strategies.

Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on data from PTC patients who underwent thyroidectomy between October 2022 and May 2024 across six centers.

LINC01305 and LAD1 Co-Regulate CTTN and N-WASP Phosphorylation, Mediating Cytoskeletal Reorganization to Promote ESCC Metastasis.

Mol Carcinog

April 2025

Institute of Tissue Engineering and Stem Cells, Beijing Anzhen Nanchong Hospital of Capital Medical University, Nanchong Central Hospital, The Second Clinical Medical College of North Sichuan Medical College, Nanchong, China.

Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) is prone to metastasis and is a leading cause of mortality. The cytoskeleton is closely related to cell morphology and movement; however, little research has been conducted on ESCC metastasis. In this study, we found that the anchoring filament protein ladinin 1 (LAD1) specifically binds to LINC01305 for co-regulating the level of modulating cortactin proteins (CTTN) and neuronal Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome protein (N-WASP) phosphorylation, which mediates cytoskeletal reorganization and affects the metastasis of ESCC cells.

Atractylenolide I (ATL-I) can interfere with Colorectal cancer (CRC) cell proliferation by changing apoptosis, glucose metabolism and other behaviors, making it an effective drug for inhibiting CRC tumor growth. In this paper, we investigated the interactions between ATL-I and Keratin 7 (KRT7), a CRC-specific marker, to determine the potential pathways by which ATL-I inhibits CRC development. The KRT7 expression level in CRC was predicted online using the GEPIA website and then validated.

Fruit preservation materials play an instrumental role in preventing fruit deterioration and extending shelf life. However, existing fresh-keeping materials often prove inadequate in simultaneously achieving antibacterial properties, maintaining freshness, antioxidant effects, good biocompatibility, and prolonged fruit shelf life. Therefore, we present the first preparation of a natural polysaccharide spray hydrogel (Q/O/Zn hydrogel), loaded with chlorogenic acid‑zinc nanoparticles (CA@ZnNPs), utilizing quaternary ammonium insect chitosan (QECS) and oxidized pullulan (OPUL) for the preservation of perishable fruits.

Infertility is closely related to obesity. Relative fat mass (RFM) is a newer index for assessing percentage of body fat, which reflects the amount of body fat better than body mass index (BMI), but its relationship with infertility needs further study. The purpose of this study was to assess whether there was an association between RFM and infertility in women aged 20 to 44 years in the United States.
