Major depressive disorder (MDD) is the most prevalent form of depression and is becoming a great challenge for public health and medical practice. Although first-line antidepressants offer therapeutic benefits, about 35% of depressed patients are not adequately treated, creating a substantial unmet medical need. A multicenter, double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled phase 3 clinical trial was conducted in patients with MDD in China to assess the efficacy and safety of ansofaxine (LY03005), a potential triple reuptake inhibitor of serotonin, norepinephrine, and dopamine.

Introduction: As a biomarker of depression, speech signal has attracted the interest of many researchers due to its characteristics of easy collection and non-invasive. However, subjects' speech variation under different scenes and emotional stimuli, the insufficient amount of depression speech data for deep learning, and the variable length of speech frame-level features have an impact on the recognition performance.
Methods: The above problems, this study proposes a multi-task ensemble learning method based on speaker embeddings for depression classification.

Background: Although the objective depression evaluation is a hot topic in recent years, less is known concerning developing a pervasive and objective approach for quantitatively evaluating depression. Driven by the Wisdom as a Service architecture, a quantitative analysis method for rating depressive mood status based on forehead electroencephalograph (EEG) and an electronic diary log application named quantitative log for mental state (Q-Log) is proposed. A regression method based on random forest algorithm is adopted to train the quantitative model, where independent variables are forehead EEG features and the dependent variables are the first principal component (FPC) values of the Q-Log.

Adolescence is a critical period with ongoing maturational processes in stress-sensitive systems. It remains unknown how adolescent individuals would be affected by chronic exposure to corticosterone (the major stress hormone in rodents, CORT) at the doses that are usually not detrimental in adults. In this study, male Sprague-Dawley rats were injected with CORT (5 mg/kg) or vehicle for 21 days during adolescence (postnatal day (PND) 29-49) or adulthood (PND 71-91) and then subjected to behavioral testing or sacrifice for neurobiological analyses.

Prospective memory (PM) is the ability to remember to carry out future intentions when prompted by a cue, and previous studies have suggested that emotional PM cues may enhance PM performance. This study examined the influence of emotional cues on PM performance in patients with schizophrenia and major depressive disorder. All participants were required to respond to emotional or neutral PM cues while completing a working memory task.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFIn recent years, functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) has been widely used in studies that explored the personality-brain association. Researches on personality neuroscience have the potential to provide personality psychology with explanatory models-that is, people differ from each other rather than they differ from each other (DeYoung and Gray, 2009). As one of the most important dimensions of personality traits, extraversion is the most stable core and a universal component in personality theory.

Adolescence is of particular significance to schizophrenia, since psychosis onset typically occurs in this critical period. Based on the N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor hypofunction hypothesis of schizophrenia, in this study, we investigated whether and how repeated NMDA receptor blockade during adolescence would affect GABAergic interneurons in rat medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC) and mPFC-mediated cognitive functions. Specifically, adolescent rats were subjected to intraperitoneal administration of MK-801 (0.

Blockade of the N-methyl-d-aspartate receptors (NMDARs) during the neonatal period has been reported to induce long-term behavioral and neurochemical alterations that are relevant to schizophrenia. In this study, we examined the effects of such treatment on recognition memory and hippocampal excitatory and inhibitory (E/I) balance in both adolescence and adulthood. After exposure to the NMDAR antagonist, MK-801, at postnatal days (PND) 5-14, male Sprague-Dawley rats were tested for object and object-in-context recognition memory during adolescence (PND 35) and adulthood (PND 63).
