Stannous octanoate [Sn(Oct)] and 4-dimethylamino pyridine (DMAP) were used to catalyze the synthesis of amphiphilic cellulose-based graft copolymers, but the acute toxicity of tin ions and DMAP prompts the need for the application of less harmful catalysts. Herein, green catalyst complexes 1-3 [M(HL)(HO)]·2(HO) (M = Sm, 1; M = Nd, 2; M = Eu, 3; HL = 4-(3-(tetrazol-5-yl)pyridin-5-yl)benzoic acid) were synthesized, and their properties were systematically investigated. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction showed that the complexes possessed a zero-dimensional structure, while the thermogravimetry and scanning electron microscopy results confirmed their stability after heating at 110 °C for 10 h.

This paper proposes an optimized Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM+) model for predicting cumulative confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Germany, the UK, Italy, and Japan. The LSTM+ model incorporates two key optimizations: (1) fine-adjustment of parameters and (2) a 're-prediction' process that utilizes the latest prediction results from the previous iteration. The performance of the LSTM+ model is evaluated and compared with that of Backpropagation (BP) and traditional LSTM models.

Background: Natto mucus is mainly composed of poly(γ-glutamic acid) (γ-PGA), which affects the sensory quality of natto and has some effective functional activities. The soybean metabolites that cause different γ-PGA contents in different fermented natto are unclear.
Results: In this study, we use untargeted metabolomics to analyze the metabolites of high-production γ-PGA natto and low-production γ-PGA natto and their fermented substrate soybean.

are widely distributed in various environments, owing to their versatile metabolic capabilities and remarkable adaptation strategies. Recent studies reported that species were highly enriched in cold seep sediments, but their metabolic capabilities, ecological functions, and adaption mechanisms in the cold seep habitats remained obscure. In this study, we conducted a systematic analysis of the complete genome of a novel bacterium strain M8S5, which we isolated from cold seep sediments of the South China Sea at a depth of 1151 m.

Caddisworms (Trichoptera) spin adhesive silks to construct a variety of underwater composite structures. Many studies have focused on the fibroin heavy chain of caddisworm silk and found that it contains heavy phosphorylation to maintain a stable secondary structure. Besides fibroins, recent studies have also identified some new silk proteins within caddisworm silk.

Aquacultures are the main reason for the environmental selection of antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs), resulting in the enrichment of ARGs. As a filter, a marine mangrove ecosystem can reduce antimicrobial resistance (AMR) or eliminate ARGs; however, its elimination mechanism remains unclear. This study investigated the spatiotemporal dynamic distribution of ARGs in two different types of mangrove habitats (shrimp ponds and virgin forests), within a subtropical gulf located in the Beibu Gulf, China, during dry and wet seasons by using metagenomics and real time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) analysis.

The increasing experimental evidence suggests that there are some forms of specific acquired immunity in invertebrates, in which Toll-like receptors (TLRs) play vital roles in activating innate and adaptive immunity and have been comprehensively investigated in mammalian species. Yet, the immune mechanisms underlying TLR mediation in mollusks remain obscure. In this study, we identified a TLR13 gene in the pearl oyster Pinctada fucata for the first time and named it PfTLR13 which consists of a 5'-untranslated terminal region (5'-UTR) of 543 bp, an open reading frame (ORF) of 2667 bp, and a 3'-UTR of 729 bp.

CD46, as a cofactor of complement I factor, not only regulates the complement system but also functions as a pathogen receptor and is involved in controlling early pathogen infection through autophagy. In this study, a new CD46 gene (ToCD46) was identified from golden pompano (Trachinotus ovatus), which showed higher sequence homology with other teleosts CD46. Homology comparison showed that ToCD46 had higher sequence homology (46.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of ultrasonic pretreatment on the quality of cured sea bass. Compared to static marination, ultrasonication significantly increased the rate of NaCl transfer, reduced the hardness and chewiness of fish, and improved water retention. Microstructural observations revealed that the sea bass muscle fibers were severely fragmented, with their borders becoming increasingly blurred with increasing ultrasonic intensity.

Vitellogenin (Vtg) serves as the precursor of yolk protein and exhibits widespread distribution in tissues, including in the ovary of both vertebrates and invertebrates. Vtg plays a critical role in facilitating oocyte maturation and embryonic development following oviposition. In this study, we have successfully elucidated the complete transcript sequence of TtVtg6-like from an ancient chelicerate Tachypleus tridentatus.

This paper investigates the finite/fixed-time synchronization problem of delayed inertial memristive neural networks (DIMNNs) using interval matrix-based methods within a unified control framework. By employing set-valued mapping and differential inclusion theory, two distinct methods are applied to handle the switching behavior of memristor parameters: the maximum absolute value method and the interval matrix method. Based on these different approaches, two control strategies are proposed to select appropriate control parameters, enabling the system to achieve finite and fixed-time synchronization, respectively.

Vesicular monoamine transporter 2 (VMAT-2) functions by uptake of cytoplasmic monoamines into vesicles for storage. Valbenazine (VBZ) is a newly FDA-approved oral VMAT-2 inhibitor used for the treatment of movement disorders such as tardive dyskinesia (TD), and Tourette syndrome (TS). Clinical data shows that VBZ is a relatively safe drug with no cardiotoxicity or hepatotoxicity.

In this paper, we investigate a user pairing problem in power domain non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) scheme-aided satellite networks. In the considered scenario, different satellite applications are assumed with various delay quality-of-service (QoS) requirements, and the concept of effective capacity is employed to characterize the effect of delay QoS limitations on achieved performance. Based on this, our objective was to select users to form a NOMA user pair and utilize resource efficiently.

Given the increasing concerns regarding greenhouse gas emissions associated with livestock production, the need to discover effective strategies to mitigate methane production in ruminants is clear. Marine algal polysaccharides have emerged as a promising research avenue because of their abundance and sustainability. Polysaccharides, such as alginate, laminaran, and fucoidan, which are extracted from marine seaweeds, have demonstrated the potential to reduce methane emissions by influencing the microbial populations in the rumen.

Phenanthrene (PHE), as a structurally simple, tricyclic, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAHs), is widely present in marine environments and organisms, with serious ecological and health impacts. It is crucial to study fast and simple high-sensitivity detection methods for phenanthrene in seawater for the environment and the human body. In this paper, a immunosensor was prepared by using a multi-wall carbon nanotube (MWCNTs)-chitosan oligosaccharide (COS) nanocomposite membrane loaded with phenanthrene antibody.

Omega-3 long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (n-3 LC-PUFA) have many health benefits to human. Increasing evidence have shown that climate change reduces the availability of plankton n-3 LC-PUFA to primary consumers which potentially reduces the availability of n-3 LC-PUFA to human. Since marine bivalves are an important source of n-3 LC-PUFA for human beings, and bivalve aquaculture completely depends on phytoplankton in ambient water as food, it is important to understand the impact of climate change on the lipid nutritional quality of bivalves.
