[Association between insulin resistance and cholesteryl ester transfer protein gene polymorphism in type 2 diabetes mellitus].

Objective: To study the association between cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP) gene polymorphism and insulin resistance in type 2 diabetes.

Methods: CETP-TaqIB gene was genotyped with polymerase chain reaction-restriction enzyme fragment polymorphism analysis in 108 patients with type 2 diabetes and in 60 normal controls. Plasma lipids, fasting insulin, insulin sensitivity index and insulin resistance index were determined in 108 patients with type 2 diabetes.

[Serological characteristics of a hepatitis E outbreak].

Objective: To look into the serological characteristics of a hepatitis E outbreak.

Methods: Sera from the first five patients with acute icteric hepatitis who developed the disease successively within ten days and the 1,675 employees routinely having their lunch in a dining hall of a department (outbreak population) were examined for anti.HEV IgM and IgG at 26th days after the outbreak, and the 883 employees of a neighboring department not having their lunch in the hall were selected as control (control population).

[Study on the mitochondrion DNA mutation in tumor tissues of gynecologic oncology patients].

Objective: To investigate the mitochondrion DNA (mtDNA) mutation in tumor tissues of gynecologic oncology patients and their relationship to tumorigenesis and tumor development.

Methods: The samples of tumor tissue and their proximal normal tissue of 32 gynecological malignant tumor patients as well as 8 gynecological benign tumor patients were taken. The malignants were 5 squamous cervical carcinomas, 10 endometrial carcinomas and 17 epithelial ovarian cancers (EOC).

[Laryngostroboscopy in the monitoring of precancerous lesion of vocal cord and in canceration tracing].

Objective: To evaluate the value of laryngostroboscopy in the monitoring of precancerous lesion of vocal cord and in the canceration tracing.

Methods: Fifty-two cases of precancerous lesion of vocal cord were examined under Laryngostroboscope. The modifications of mucosal wave and amplitude of vocal cord vibration were observed.

Objective: Explores the feasibility of guiding bone tissue regeneration by frozen homologous periosteum.

Methods: Rabbit's cranial periosteum was taken and refrigerated. In thirty-one white Japanese big ear rabbits, defects of the mandible were created.

[Pulmonary embolism due to deep venous thrombosis of extremities].

Objective: To study the relationship between pulmonary embolism and deep venous thrombosis of extremities.

Methods: The authors conducted a retrospective analysis of 100 patients with deep venous thrombosis to analyse the occurrence of pulmonary embolism during 1996 to and 1998 in their hospital.

Results: In the 100 patients with deep venous thrombosis, the complication of pulmonary embolism was 45%, fatal pulmonary embolism was 4%.

Effect of cilostazol on endothelial cell denudation and proliferation in canine vein grafts.

The purpose of the present study was to examine the effects of cilostazol on endothelial cell denudation and proliferation in vein grafts used as arterial substitutes. Unilateral aortoiliac bypass was performed using the lateral jugular vein in 20 mongrel dogs. The animals were divided into two groups according to whether or not cilostazol was given.

[A endothelial coverage in the autogenous vein graft for arterial reconstruction in the early stage].

Methods: Forty dogs were divided in to two groups. After the artery reconstructed and intravenous injection or nonintravenous injection of PGE1, the dogs were divided in to groups.

Pancreaticoduodenal artery aneurysm. Case report with literature review.

Pancreaticoduodenal artery aneurysms are quite rare; only 5 cases have been reported in the Chinese literature. The variable clinical presentations and high incidence of rupture make it difficult to diagnose and treat. In this paper we report a case of inferior pancreaticoduodenal artery aneurysm with literature review.

[Enhancement of antitumor effect of cisplatin on human ovarian cancer by cyclosporin A in vitro and in vivo].

Objectives: To investigate the enhanced impact of cyclosporin A (CsA) on antitumor activity of cisplatin (DDP) for human ovarian cancer cells.

In Vitro Studies: human ovarian adenocarcinoma cells (COC1) and its resistant subline (COC1/DDP) were cultured separately with 4 different preparations: (1) normal saline; (2) CsA alone; (3) DDP alone; (4) DDP plus CsA. After 72 hours, the numbers of tumor cells were counted under microscope.

[The morphologic changes of endometrial hematostatic reaction in intrauterine devices induced menorrhagia].

Objective: To investigate the relationship between intrauterine contraceptive devices (IUD) induced menorrhagia and endometrial spiral arteriolar contractive function and endometrial superficial vessels thrombus formation function.

Methods: Sixty five subjects were admitted and divided into IUD bleeding group (25 cases), IUD non-bleeding group (20 cases) and IUD non-user group (20 cases). The samples were obtained by curettage within 24 hours prior to menstruation and observed under light and electron microscope.

The morphologic changes of endometrial spiral arterioles in IUD-induced menorrhagia.

To investigate the relationship between IUD-induced menorrhagia and spiral arteriolar function, we examined the endometrium under light and electron microscope on samples obtained within 24 hours after the onset of premenstrual spotting. These samples included an IUD bleeding group (20 cases), an IUD non-bleeding group (20 cases) and an IUD non-user group (10 cases) as controls. Compared with the IUD non-user group the degenerative changes of spiral arteriolar wall were more severe and dilation of the spiral arteriolar lumen was more obvious, especially in the spongeous layer.

[Case report of pulmonary histoplasmosis].

A case of pulmonary histoplasmosis in Beijing was reported Patient's CT scan showed naly patchy consolidation partly with small cavitations and hilar silhouette enlarged in both lungs. On pathologic examination, Histoplasma Capsutatums were found in the lung tissures by percutaneous lung biopsy. Skin rash had developed in the course.

[Radiotherapy of testicular infiltration in childhood leukemia].

330 boys with acute leukemia treated from 1978 to 1987 are reported. Of these patients, 24 (7.3%) developed testicular leukemia and 23 were treated by local irradiation with doses of 20-50 Gy on both sides of the testis.
