Background: Ultrasound imaging is shown to be superior to other imaging tools for the evaluation of shoulder disorders in a primary care settings. In addition to its diagnostic utility, ultrasound diathermy is useful as a deep heat modality for the management of shoulder pain.

Objective And Study Design: In this study, we analyzed the bibliometric data of publications that have focused on ultrasound imaging/therapy for shoulder-related pain syndrome.

Comparative Effectiveness of Corticosteroid Dosages for Ultrasound-Guided Glenohumeral Joint Hydrodilatation in Adhesive Capsulitis: A Randomized Controlled Trial.

Objective: To investigate the efficacy of hydrodilatation with 40 mg triamcinolone acetonide (TA) compared with the same procedure with 10 mg TA in patients with adhesive capsulitis (AC) of the shoulders.

Design: Prospective, double-blind, randomized controlled trial with 12 weeks of follow-up.

Despite the wide use of corticosteroid hydrodissection for carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS), there is insufficient evidence to confirm its efficacy. This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of corticosteroid hydrodissection vs. corticosteroid perineural injection alone on clinical and electrophysiological parameters in patients with CTS.

Ultrasound-Guided Hydrodilatation With Triamcinolone Acetonide for Adhesive Capsulitis: A Randomized Controlled Trial Comparing the Posterior Glenohumeral Recess and the Rotator Cuff Interval Approaches.

For patients with adhesive capsulitis, hydrodilatation is typically performed using corticosteroids with ultrasound guidance via the posterior glenohumeral recess. Recently, a new intervention technique via the rotator cuff interval has been described. This study aimed to compare the efficacy of hydrodilatation with triamcinolone acetonide via the posterior glenohumeral recess and the rotator cuff interval in patients with adhesive capsulitis.

Reliability of Sonoelastography Measurement of Tongue Muscles and Its Application on Obstructive Sleep Apnea.

Few studies have explored the feasibility of shear-wave ultrasound elastography (SWUE) for evaluating the upper airways of patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). This study aimed to establish a reliable SWUE protocol for evaluating tongue muscle elasticity and its feasibility and utility in differentiating patients with OSA. Inter-rater and intra-rater reliability of SWUE measurements were tested using the intraclass correlation coefficients.

An Overlooked Cause of Posterior Knee Pain: Ultrasound Imaging and Guided Injection for Proximal Lateral Gastrocnemius Tendon Sprain.

Proximal lateral gastrocnemius tendon injury is an overlooked cause of posterior knee pain. As the proximal gastrocnemius tendon attaches on the distal femur; its pain is more deeply located and can also be aggravated by flexion of the affected knee. In the present report, sonopalpation showed that the painful tendon appeared to have lost its fibrillary pattern and become thickened and hypoechoic as well.

Ultrasound measurements of superficial and deep masticatory muscles in various postures: reliability and influencers.

Masticatory muscle thickness provides objective measurements of the oral motor function, which may change in patients with oral myofascial pain. In this study, we aimed to establish a reliable ultrasound (US) protocol for imaging the superficial and deep masticatory muscles and to identify the potential influencers of the measurements. Forty-eight healthy participants without orofacial pain were enrolled.
