Given the proven benefits of screening to reduce diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) likelihood at the time of stage 3 type 1 diabetes diagnosis, and emerging availability of therapy to delay disease progression, type 1 diabetes screening programs are being increasingly emphasized. Once broadly implemented, screening initiatives will identify significant numbers of islet autoantibody-positive (IAb+) children and adults who are at risk for (confirmed single IAb+) or living with (multiple IAb+) early-stage (stage 1 and stage 2) type 1 diabetes. These individuals will need monitoring for disease progression; much of this care will happen in nonspecialized settings.

Methods: Data from a cohort study, the American Academy of Pediatrics Pediatrician Life and Career Experience Study, were used to examine career satisfaction and wellbeing from 2012 to 2021 among 2002-2004 and 2009-2011 residency graduates (n = 1760). Mixed effects logistic regression, including key pediatrician characteristics, examined career satisfaction and wellbeing measures for sex (female vs male), pandemic year (2012-2019 vs 2020-2021), and their interaction effect.

Introduction: Newer pharmacotherapy agents (anti-obesity medication [AOM]) are revolutionizing the management of children and adolescents with obesity. Previously, treatment based on intensive behavioral therapy involved many patient and family contact hours and yielded improvements in obesity status of 1-3 percent of the 95th percentile of the body mass index (BMI). Encouraged by bacteremia clearance using antistaphylococcal beta-lactams plus carbapenem combination in adults with refractory methicillin-sensitive Staphylococcus aureus infection, we present our experience with 2 preterm infants and review 1 previously published case. Noted successful bacteremia clearance in all 3 must be weighed against possible adverse effects associated with carbapenem use.

Study Design: A total of 641 infants of 510 to 1,000-g birth weight (BW, mean: 847 g) and mean 27 weeks' gestational age at birth (GA) were analyzed for total daily enteral (TDE) feeding volumes of 10, 20, 40, 80, and 120 mL/kg/d and their association with 24 clinical variables. Uni- and multivariable Cox regression models were used to calculate hazard ratios (HR) with 95% confidence intervals as a measure of the chance of reaching each of the TDE volumes.

Delineation of resected brain cavities on magnetic resonance images (MRIs) of epilepsy surgery patients is essential for neuroimaging/neurophysiology studies investigating biomarkers of the epileptogenic zone. The gold standard to delineate the resection on MRI remains manual slice-by-slice tracing by experts. Here, we proposed and validated a semiautomated MRI segmentation pipeline, generating an accurate model of the resection and its anatomical labeling, and developed a graphical user interface (GUI) for user-friendly usage.
