Ther Adv Ophthalmol
October 2023
Ophthalmology Department, Erzurum research and education Hospital, Erzurum, Turkey.
Background: Cardiac surgery has been associated with adverse ocular events. Off-pump coronary artery bypass graft surgery evades the systemic inflammatory response seen in extracorporeal circulation and is superior to on-pump surgery with regard to end-organ dysfunction and neurological outcomes.
Objectives: To determine the effects of off-pump (without extracorporeal circulation) coronary artery bypass graft surgery on choroidal thickness, ganglion cell complex, and the retinal nerve fiber layer.
Orbit
August 2023
Department of Ophthalmology, Batı Göz Hospital, Izmir, Turkey.
Purpose: To determine the effect of unilateral primary acquired nasolacrimal obstruction (PANDO) on ocular surface parameters in PANDOeyes and fellow eyes and changes in these parameters after dacryocystorhinostomy.
Methods: Tear osmolarity, tear break-up time (TBUT), Schirmer's test, Meibomian gland score, and Lissamine Green staining of PANDO eyes and fellow eyes were measured preoperatively and postoperatively at Day 15, 1 month, and 3 months. Lacrimal irrigation and epiphora symptomatology were evaluated at all follow-up visits, and patients who did not meet surgical success criteria were excluded from the study.
Beyoglu Eye J
February 2020
Department of Ophthalmology, Bati Goz Hospital, Istanbul, Turkey.
Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate clinical outcomes related to the protection of corneal endothelial cells and the safety of the Bio-Hyalur CS (Biotech Healthcare Group, Luzern, Switzerland) ophthalmic viscosurgical device (OVD) in routine cataract surgery.
Methods: Patients who had undergone cataract surgery using Bio-Hyalur CS as an OVD and who had at least 3 months of follow-up data were included in the study. Endothelial cell density (ECD) and morphology (hexagonality, area, and coefficient of variation in cell size) as well as intraocular pressure were evaluated during 3 months of follow-up.

June 2018
Bati Goz Hospital, Istanbul, Turkey.
Background: Advancements in cataract surgery have necessitated the availability of intraocular lens preloaded delivery systems that can safely, effectively and predictably deliver IOLs in the eye. Preloaded delivery systems simplify and reduce procedural variability during surgery preparation.
Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate clinical acceptability, delivery characteristics and clinical outcomes in patients implanted with new generation hydrophobic acrylic Intraocular Lens with Preloaded delivery system.
J Ophthalmol
November 2017
Bati Goz Hospital, Istanbul, Turkey.
Purpose: To evaluate the effect of cap-lenticule diameter difference (CLDD) on the visual outcome and higher-order aberrations (HOAs) of small-incision lenticule extraction (SMILE).
Methods: A total of 132 patients who had bilateral SMILE for myopia or myopic astigmatism were included. The CLDD was 0.
Eye Contact Lens
September 2018
Department of Ophthalmology (R.A., S.K.E.), Istanbul Medipol University, Istanbul, Turkey; Department of Ophthalmology (K.S.C.), Istanbul Bagcilar Training and Research Hospital, Istanbul, Turkey; Department of Ophthalmology (E.K.), Bati Göz Hospital, Izmir, Turkey; and Department of Ophthalmology (S.K.), Dokuz Eylul University, Izmir, Turkey.
Purpose: To compare anterior chamber depth (ACD), axial length (AL), and lens thickness (LT) measurements obtained by the Lenstar LS 900 (Haag-Streit AG) optical low-coherence reflectometry with those obtained by the A-scan contact ultrasound among patients with moderate and high hypermetropia.
Methods: Fifty-two eyes of 52 patients with moderate and high hypermetropia (spherical equivalent of +4 D or more) were examined in this study measurements of ACD, AL, and LT obtained by Lenstar were compared with those obtained by applanation A-scan ultrasound. All measurements were obtained by two independent examiners.
