Coronary artery disease (CAD) is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide. The coronary atherosclerotic process involves different pathological mechanisms; inflammation is one of the major triggers for the development of atherosclerotic plaque. Although several studies showed the favorable effects of melatonin on the cardiovascular system (CVS), melatonin seems not to take its rightful place in today's clinical practice.

The relationship between serum irisin levels and erectile dysfunction in diabetic men (irisin and erectile dysfunction in diabetic patients).

Irisin is an exercise-induced myokine that alleviates endothelial dysfunction and reduces insulin resistance in type 2 diabetes mellitus. We conducted this cross-sectional prospective study to determine the association of serum irisin levels and erectile dysfunction in type 2 diabetic patients. We compared 34 diabetic patients with erectile dysfunction with 30 diabetic patients without erectile dysfunction.

We aimed to determine the prognostic role of whole tumor-associated inflammatory cells, especially eosinophils, and stromal histological characteristics in relation to other prognostic parameters in patients with colorectal carcinoma (CRC). A total of 122 patients who underwent an operation for CRC were included in this retrospective study. Conventional (tumor grade, TNM stage and venous invasion [VI]) and other histopathological (intratumoral/peritumoral budding [ITB/PTB], desmoplasia) tumor parameters were recorded and classified by density, as were the tumor-associated inflammatory parameters (intratumoral/peritumoral lymphocytes [ITL/PTL], eosinophils [IE/PTE], overall inflammation [ITI/PTI], Crohn-like inflammation [CLI]).

Comparative Findings Between Ga-PSMA and F-FDG PET/CT for Hepatocellular Carcinoma.

We have reported here the case of a 69-year-old man who presented with spinal cord compression due to bone metastases as the first manifestation of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). For the initial staging, the patient underwent F-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography/computerized tomography (PET/CT) imaging, which demonstrated mild F-FDG uptake in the multiple expansile osteolytic bone lesions, but no remarkable atypical F-FDG uptake in the liver lesion on low-doses CT. An additional PET/CT scan was performed to evaluate the prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) expression, which has recently been reported to be a potential biological marker in a variety of tumors including HCC.

Aim: Gender-related differences have been described in the clinical characteristics and management of patients with chronic heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF). However, published data are conflictive in this regard.

Methods: We investigated differences in clinical and management variables between male and female patients from the ATA study, a prospective, multicentre, observational study that included 1462 outpatients with chronic HFrEF between January and June 2019.

The implications of the glenoid angles and rotator cuff status in patients with osteoarthritis undergoing shoulder arthroplasty.

Background: The success of shoulder arthroplasty, both reverse and anatomical, depends on correcting the underlying glenoid deformity especially in patients with an osteoarthritis. We hypothesized that the distribution of glenoid version and especially inclination are underestimated in the shoulder arthritis population, and also that superior glenoid inclination can be detected through 3-dimensional (3D) software program of computed tomography (CT) to a greater proportion in patients with rotator cuff insufficiency, but also in patients with osteoarthritis with an intact rotator cuff. Because of the influence of rotator cuff imbalance on secondary glenoid wear the values of the critical shoulder angle (CSA) and the fatty infiltration of the rotator cuff are further analyzed.

Elephantiasis nostras verrucosa (ENV) is a clinical manifestation composed of hyperkeratotic, verrucous, and papillomatous lesions and dermal fibrosis, which complicate chronic lymphedema. There is currently no cure for ENV, however, several measures have been used to reduce lymphedema and the resultant pseudoepidermal hyperplasia. Supportive dressings and compression therapy still constitute an important part of the treatment.

Conjunctivitis as sole symptom of COVID-19: A case report and review of literature.

Introduction: Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is a novel virus causing an ongoing pandemic in 2020. Although the symptomatic patients infected by SARS-CoV-2 generally show respiratory distress, atypical manifestations such as conjunctivitis are also observed. A series of cases are reported in which reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) testing on tears had demonstrated the presence of the virus.

Lateral transorbital approach: an alternative microsurgical route for supratentorial cerebral aneurysms.

Objective: Transorbital approaches for neurosurgery have recently attracted attention and several anatomical studies have aimed to improve these techniques, but significant deficiencies in clinical practice remain, especially for aneurysm surgery. The authors present an alternative microsurgical route and the results of an analysis of patients with intracranial aneurysms who underwent a lateral transorbital approach (LTOA) using lateral orbito-zygoma-sphenotomy (LOZYGS).

Methods: The clinical and surgical results of a series of 54 consecutive patients with 1 or more aneurysms who underwent surgery via LTOA are reported.
