Psychometric properties and feasibility of three scales assessing the level of knowledge and awareness about pelvic floor health.

Objective: Despite high prevalence and burden of pelvic floor dysfunctions (PFD), there is a limited number of scales assessing knowledge of pelvic floor health (PFH), and no studies comparing their psychometric or feasibility properties. The study aimed both to investigate the psychometric properties and feasibility of Incontinence Quiz (IQ), Prolapse and Incontinence Knowledge Questionnaire (PIKQ) and Pelvic Floor Health Knowledge Questionnaire (PFHKQ), and to compare level of PFH knowledge in women with and without PFD.

Study Design: In this prospective cross-sectional study, a total of 150 women were included.

Role of Environmental Risk Factors in the Etiology of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases: A Multicenter Study.

Background: The increasing global incidence and prevalence of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) necessitates an investigation into the potential influence of environmental risk factors on its origin.

Aim: This multicenter case-control study aimed to investigate potential environmental risk factors contributing to IBD development in Turkey.

Methods: The study included 156 Crohn's disease (CD), 277 ulcerative colitis (UC) patients, and 468 controls (matched for age and gender) from six hospitals' gastroenterology departments.

Is there a relationship between the severity of disease in major depressive disorder patients and dry eye disease?

Purpose: To investigate dry eye disease (DED) in newly diagnosed patients with depressive disorder (MDD).

Method: This observational study included 48 MDD patients in Group 1 and 20 healthy controls in Group 2. Psychiatric and ophthalmic examinations, Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), Ocular Surface Disease Index (OSDI), Schirmer's test, tear breakup time (TBUT), Meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD), and ocular staining were conducted.

Oncolytic Increases Autophagy in Multiple Myeloma.

Objective: Multiple myeloma, which affects plasma cells, is the second most common hematological malignancy. Despite the development of new drugs and treatment protocols, patient survival has not reached the desired level. In this study, we investigated the effects of (MYXV), an oncolytic virus, on autophagy in myeloma cells.

Evaluation of Cerebral Vasomotor Reactivity by Transcranial Doppler Ultrasound in Patients with Diabetic Retinopathy.

The aim of this study was to assess the correlation between cerebral vasomotor reactivity (CVR) and the grade of diabetic retinopathy. A total of 43 diabetic patients with matched severity of diabetic retinopathy between their right and left eyes were included in this study. Diabetic retinopathy was graded in three groups.

Endoscopic ultrasound-guided gastrojejunostomy with a direct technique without previous intestinal filling using a tubular fully covered self-expandable metallic stent.

Background/aims: Endoscopic ultrasonography-guided gastrojejunostomy is a minimally invasive method for the management of gastric outlet obstruction. Conventionally, a lumen-apposing metal stent (LAMS) is used to create an anastomosis. However, LAMS is expensive and not widely available.

Subacute THYROiditis Related to SARS-CoV-2 VAccine and Covid-19 (THYROVAC Study): A Multicenter Nationwide Study.

Context: The aims of the study are to compare characteristics of subacute thyroiditis (SAT) related to different etiologies, and to identify predictors of recurrence of SAT and incident hypothyroidism.

Methods: This nationwide, multicenter, retrospective cohort study included 53 endocrinology centers in Turkey. The study participants were divided into either COVID-19-related SAT (Cov-SAT), SARS-CoV-2 vaccine-related SAT (Vac-SAT), or control SAT (Cont-SAT) groups.

Bilateral Native Kidney Papillary Renal Cell Carcinomas in a 11-Year-Old Renal Transplant Patient.

Renal cell carcinomas (RCCs) are the most common renal tumors in adults and are usually sporadic and unilateral. Renal transplant recipients have an increased risk of developing RCC. RCC development after kidney transplantation is very rarely reported in children.

A novel agent for myeloma causing toxic keratopathy, belantamab mafodotin: a case report and literature review.

A 60-year-old-male with refractory relapsed multiple myeloma presented with redness, pain, foreign body sensation, and blurred vision in both eyes that gradually increased after his third belantamab mafotodin infusion. Biomicroscopy revealed bilateral microcyst-like epithelial changes and epithelial crystal-like deposits, whereas in vivo confocal microscopy revealed intraepithelial and subepithelial hyperreflective deposits in corneal epithelium. Belantamab mafodotin therapy was discontinued for seven weeks due to corneal toxicity, which cleared progressively.

The trueness of an intraoral scanner in scanning different post space depths.

Objectives: The purpose of this in vitro study was to evaluate the trueness of scanning the post space up to 20 mm with an intraoral scanner (IOS).

Methods: We captured 20-, 18-, 16-, 14-, 12-, and 10-mm length post space scans using an IOS (Primescan) eight times each by shortening the apical 2 mm end of the same mandibular canine tooth. The reference impressions of each length group were taken using a light-body polyvinyl siloxane impression material and were scanned with an extraoral scanner.

Prevalence of inguinoscrotal pathologies and risk factors in a cohort of 388 children with spina bifida.

Background: There is limited information about the prevalence and risk factors of inguinal hernia and undescended testis in patients with spina bifida (SB). The aim of this study was to identify the properties and prevalence of inguinoscrotal diseases in these patients.

Methods: A questionnaire was completed by parents of patients with the diagnosis of SB in our center.

The correlation of atrophy, traction and neovascularization in myopic choroidal neovascularization according to a novel myopic maculopathy classification system (atrophy (A), traction (T), neovascularization (N): ATN).

Purpose: To grade myopic choroidal neovascularization (CNV) patients according to the new myopic maculopathy classification (A: atrophy, T: traction, N: neovascularization-ATN) and analyze the correlation in between atrophy, traction and neovascularization.

Methods: Fifty-one eyes of 41 patients with the diagnosis of pathologic myopia and myopic CNV were included in this clinical practice study. Patients were graded according to the recently described ATN classification.

Analysis of therapy monitoring in the International Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia Registry.

Objective: Congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) requires exogenous steroid replacement. Treatment is commonly monitored by measuring 17-OH progesterone (17OHP) and androstenedione (D4).

Design: Retrospective cohort study using real-world data to evaluate 17OHP and D4 in relation to hydrocortisone (HC) dose in CAH patients treated in 14 countries.

A Rare Case of Primary Cardiac Diffuse Large B-cell Lymphoma Imaged with F-FDG PET/CT.

Primary cardiac lymphoma is an extremely rare malignancy. A few reports about the findings of fluorine-fluorodeoxyglucose (F-FDG) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) imaging has been presented. We report a rare case of a 70-year-old male with diagnosed primary intracardiac diffuse large B-cell lymphoma referred for F-FDG PET/CT imaging for initial staging.

Clinical characteristics and outcomes of ocular injuries in pediatric patients.

Background: Childhood eye injuries are one of the most common causes of acquired unilateral blindness. In this study, our purpose was to investigate the demographics, etiology, and outcome of pediatric patients with ocular injury.

Methods: The charts of children with ocular trauma who presented to Baskent University Hospitals, between January 1, 2017 and December 31, 2019 were retrospectively reviewed.

Effects of Continuous-Flow Left Ventricular Assist Device Therapy on Peripheral Vascular Function.

The peripheral vascular effects of continuous-flow left ventricular assist device (CF-LVAD) implantation are still unclear. The aim of the current study was to determine peripheral vascular function before and after implantation of CF-LVAD in patients with end-stage heart failure (HF), and to compare this data to age- and sex-matched chronic heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) patients. Forty-three consecutive end-stage HF patients (New York Heart Association [NYHA] class III/IV; three women and 40 men; mean age 53 ± 11 years) who planned to receive CF-LVAD implantation comprised the LVAD patient population, and their clinical characteristics, preoperative and third postoperative month peripheral vascular function assessment data including flow-mediated dilation (FMD) and pulsatility index (PI) assessed by ultrasound Doppler in brachial artery were compared to age- and sex-matched chronic, stable HFrEF patients (NYHA class II; five women and 30 men; mean age 51 ± 10 years).

Diagnostic value of shear wave velocity in polycystic ovarian syndrome.

In polycystic ovarian syndrome, the ovaries become stiffer due to chronic anovulation. We aimed to compare tissue elasticity in terms of shear wave velocities measured using acoustic radiation force impulse imaging technique between the ovaries of polycystic ovarian syndrome women and non-polycystic ovarian syndrome women. The study was designed as a retrospective data analysis of women who underwent transvaginal ultrasound and acoustic radiation force impulse imaging in a university hospital between July 2014 and March 2015, for various reasons.

Masticatory function before and after masticatory muscle-related temporomandibular disorder treatment: An observational study.

Background: Muscle-related temporomandibular disorders (TMD) may affect the masticatory function. Chewing function can be assessed objectively using bolus-kneading tests, such as two-colour chewing-gum mixing ability test.

Objective: The aim was to compare the masticatory function with a two-colour chewing-gum test before and after treatment of the masticatory muscle-related temporomandibular disorder.

Risk factors for conversion to open surgery in laparoscopic cholecystectomy: A single center experience.

Objectives: This study aimed to demonstrate the demographic characteristics for laparoscopic cholecystectomy surgeries performed in the general surgery clinics of our hospital and to identify the rate of conversion to open surgery and the main reasons for convert to open surgery.

Material And Methods: Medical records of a total of 1.294 patients who underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy in our hospital between October 2013 and May 2017 were retrospectively reviewed, and the rates of conversion to open surgery based on age groups were recorded.

COVID-19 infection in patients with acute leukemia; Istanbul experience.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has led to a global pandemic that has also challenged the management of various other life-threatening conditions, such as malignant disorders. In this study, we present the clinical features and treatment outcomes of twenty-seven COVID-19 positive patients with leukemia across seven different centers in Istanbul. From March 1st to December 31st 2020, 116 patients were diagnosed with acute leukemia.

Pattern of oculomotor and visual function in children with hydrocephalus.

Purpose: To investigate the ocular motility disturbances, optic nerve changes, and refractive errors in children with or without surgically treated hydrocephalus.

Methods: This retrospective study included 63 subjects diagnosed with hydrocephalus between 2007 and 2019 at the Baskent University Hospital. Full orthoptic and ophthalmic examination and brain magnetic resonance imaging were performed in all subjects.
