In addition to their hypoglycemic effect, sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors have many other benefits. In the present study, we examine the anticancer effect of the SGLT2 inhibitor empagliflozin using cervical carcinoma models. In vivo antitumor activities of empagliflozin were observed in a nude mouse model.

To investigate the effect of long-term deep slow-wave sleep deprivation on the gonad axis, sperm abnormality rate, and structure of the testis in male rats and possible mechanisms. A total of 30 specific pathogen-free male Wistar rats aged 5 weeks were randomly divided into slow-wave sleep deprivation group 1 (SD1 group) , slow-wave sleep and sleep time deprivation group 2 (SD2 group) , and control group, with 10 rats in each group. The flower pot method was used to establish a model of sleep deprivation.

Down-regulation of miR-146b-5p contributes to tumorigenesis in several human cancers. However, the relevance of miR-146b-5p to prognosis, proliferation and apoptosis in gliomas remains unknown. In the present study, we demonstrated that miR-146b-5p expression was inversely correlated with grades and Ki-67 index in 147 human glioma specimens, but positively correlated with patients' survival.

miR-29s (including miR-29a-c) have been confirmed to be effective tumor suppressors for a variety of malignant tumors including glioblastoma. Promoter hypermethylation resulting from DNMT3A and 3B overexpression is an important epigenetic mechanism for tumor suppressive gene silencing. Bioinformatics predicts both DNMT3A and 3B are targets of miR-29s, but the anti-glioblastoma effects of miR-29s induced DNMT3A/3B downregulation deserve further investigation.

Since there is no human homolog of this enzyme, HIV-1 integrase (IN) represents a rational and important target for treating HIV infection and preventing AIDS. The 3D structure of full-length HIV-1 IN, either separately or in complex with its inhibitors, has been lacking. Thus, scarce information about the interactions between the HIV-1 IN and its inhibitors can be referenced.
