Institute of Urology and Clinical Oncology, Department of Medical Genetics and Fundamental Medicine, Bashkir State Medical University, 450008 Ufa, Russia.

miRNA-146a, a single-stranded, non-coding RNA molecule, has emerged as a valuable diagnostic and prognostic biomarker for numerous pathological conditions. Its primary function lies in regulating inflammatory processes, haemopoiesis, allergic responses, and other key aspects of the innate immune system. Several studies have indicated that polymorphisms in miRNA-146a can influence the pathogenesis of various human diseases, including autoimmune disorders and cancer.

Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a common cardiac arrhythmia that often occurs in patients with structural heart disease and is a significant cause of morbidity and mortality in clinical settings. AF is typically associated with significant changes of both the structure of the atria and the cardiac conduction system. AF can result in reduced heart function, heart failure, and various other complications.

The detection and defense against foreign agents and pathogens by the innate immune system is a crucial mechanism in the body. A comprehensive understanding of the signaling mechanisms involved in innate immunity is essential for developing effective diagnostic tools and therapies for infectious diseases. Innate immune response is a complex process involving recognition of pathogens through receptors, activation of signaling pathways, and cytokine production, which are all crucial for deploying appropriate countermeasures.

Objective: Identification of a complex of genetic predictors of multiple sclerosis (MS) based on previously obtained results in genome-wide association studies of disease markers (GWAS markers) in a population of MS patients and healthy individuals of the Republic of Bashkortostan (Russian Federation) using polygenic detection.

Material And Methods: The total study group consisted of 2048 people (641 patients with MS and 1407 healthy individuals) who permanently resided in the Republic of Bashkortostan and belonged to the Bashkir (325), Russian (772) or Tatar (951) nationalities. The analysis of association between MS and polymorphisms previously associated with the disease according to GWAS data was performed.

The risk of depression could be evaluated through its multifactorial nature using the polygenic score (PGS) approach. Assuming a "clinical continuum" hypothesis of mental diseases, a preliminary assessment of individuals with elevated risk for developing depression in a non-clinical group is of high relevance. In turn, epidemiological studies suggest including social/lifestyle factors together with PGS to address the "missing heritability" problem.

Objective: Evaluation of the efficacy and safety of Prospect in the treatment of cognitive, behavioral and mental disorders in patients with vascular dementia (VSD).

Material And Methods: In a double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel-group randomised clinical trial, 406 patients aged 60-85 years old with a diagnosis of mild/moderate vascular dementia (10-24 on the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE)) and without signs of depression (Cornell Scale for Depression in Dementia (CSDD) scores ≤10) were included. At Visit 1, complaints and medical history were collected, vital signs were recorded, cognitive impairment was assessed using MMSE and MoCA, NPI-C and CSDD were completed, and an MRI brain scan was performed.

Hereditary cataracts are characterized by significant clinical and genetic heterogeneity, which can pose challenges for early DNA diagnosis. To comprehensively address this problem, it is essential to investigate the epidemiology of the disease, perform population studies to determine the spectrum and frequencies of mutations in the responsible genes, and examine clinical and genetic correlations. Based on modern concepts, non-syndromic hereditary cataracts are predominantly caused by genetic disease forms associated with mutations in crystallin and connexin genes.
