Translation of the Gothenburg Trismus Questionnaire-2 into Telugu and its Validation for use in Indian Patients.

Unlabelled: Trismus refers to restriction in the ability to open the mouth. Comprehensive evaluation of trismus and its treatment outcomes needs a multidimensional, self-administered, trismus specific tool. In the present scenario, Gothenburg trismus questionnaire is the only reliable instrument to quantify trismus.

Role of Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy in Clinically Node Negative Carcinoma Penis - a Prospective Study.

Nodal metastasis is a strong prognostic indicator in carcinoma penis, with 25% difference in 5-year cancer-specific survival among node negative and node positive patients. This study aims to assess efficacy of SLNB in identifying occult nodal metastasis (seen in 20-25% of cases), thus avoiding morbidity of prophylactic groin dissection in rest. Study was conducted between June 2016 and December 2019 on 42 patients (84 groins).

Enhanced recovery after surgery in cytoreductive surgery and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy: national survey of peri-operative practice by Indian society of peritoneal surface malignancies.

Objectives: The Enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) program is designed to achieve faster recovery by maintaining pre-operative organ function and reducing stress response following surgery. A two part ERAS guidelines specific for Cytoreductive surgery (CRS) and Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC) was recently published with intent of extending the benefit to patients with peritoneal surface malignancies. This survey was performed to examine clinicians' knowledge, practice and obstacles about ERAS implementation in patients undergoing CRS and HIPEC.

Rare Isolated Cerebellar Metastases in Prostate Cancer: A Case Report with Review of Literature.

Prostate cancer is a common malignancy affecting elderly males. Generally, prostate cancer metastases to lymph nodes and skeletal lesions. Brain metastasis from prostate cancer is an uncommon phenomenon.

Study Protocol of the Bladder Adjuvant RadioTherapy (BART) Trial: A Randomised Phase III Trial of Adjuvant Radiotherapy Following Cystectomy in Bladder Cancer.

Aims: To assess the efficacy and safety of adjuvant radiotherapy in patients with high-risk muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC) following radical cystectomy (RC) and chemotherapy.

Materials And Methods: The BART (Bladder Adjuvant RadioTherapy) trial is an ongoing multicentric, randomised, phase III trial comparing the efficacy and safety of adjuvant radiotherapy versus observation in patients with high-risk MIBC. The key eligibility criteria include ≥pT3, node-positive (pN+), positive margins and/or nodal yield <10, or, neoadjuvant chemotherapy for cT3/T4/N+ disease.

Utility of GATA-3 and associated immunohistochemical markers in the differential diagnosis of poorly differentiated urothelial carcinoma.

Aims: The aims are to study the utility of GATA-3 along with panel of immunohistochemical (IHC) markers in the differential diagnosis of primary and metastatic poorly differentiated urothelial carcinoma (UC).

Settings And Design: This is a prospective and retrospective observational study.

Subjects And Methods: Poorly differentiated carcinomas of urinary tract and metastatic sites from January 2016 to December 2017 were subjected to a panel of four IHC markers including GATA-3, p63, Cytokeratin (CK) 7, and CK20.

Peri-humeral block for postoperative analgesia in patients with distal humerus surgery: A case series.

The brachial plexus blocks (BPBs) are routinely performed for all surgeries in the vicinity of the elbow joint. Phrenic nerve paresis is a major problem with above-clavicle blocks especially the interscalene approach. The primary aim of this pilot study was to assess feasibility and to evaluate if perioperative pain management with the articular and cutaneous nerve block, the peri-humeral block (PHB) resulted in decreased use of opioid consumption in the intraoperative and postoperative period for the first 24 hours.

A Review of the Current State of Global Surgical Oncology and the Role of Surgeons Who Treat Cancer: Our Profession's Imperative to Act Upon a Worldwide Crisis in Evolution.

Worldwide, the capacity of healthcare systems and physician workforce is woefully inadequate for the surgical treatment of cancer. With major projected increases in the global burden of neoplastic disease, this inadequacy is expected to worsen, and interventions to increase the workforce of surgeons who treat cancer and strengthen the necessary supporting infrastructure, equipment, staffing, financial and information systems are urgently called for to prevent this inadequacy from deepening. These efforts must also occur in the context of broader healthcare systems strengthening and cancer control plans, including prevention, screening, early detection, safe and effective treatment, surveillance, and palliation.

Recent advances in paediatric anaesthesia.

Recent development in science has led to a significant improvement in safety for the anaesthetic management of children. Enhanced recovery after surgery is one of the novel approaches aiming to enhance paediatric surgical outcomes and their quick recovery. Preoperative counselling, minimal fasting, and no routine pharmacological premedication are critical components of enhanced recovery after surgery.

Warthin like Variant of Papillary Carcinoma Thyroid with BRAF Mutation.

Warthin like papillary carcinoma of thyroid (WLPTC) is a distinct entity and rare variant of papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC). Here we report two cases of WLPTC with clinical, pathological and molecular characteristics.

Laryngeal Chondrometaplasia.

Laryngeal chondrometaplasia (LCM) is a rare clinically asymptomatic entity with reported incidence in autopsy studies of 1-2% only. Foci of metaplastic cartilage seen on histology need to be distinguished from other benign cartilaginous tumours of larynx. We present a case of LCM in an elderly male adequately managed by microlaryngeal surgery (MLS).

Metastasising Pleomorphic Adenoma: A Rare Entity.

Pleomorphic adenoma (PA) is the most common benign salivary gland neoplasm. Metastasising PA (MPA) is a rare subtype which is histologically and molecularly indistinguishable from the tumor in the primary location that often occurs after multiple recurrences.We herein report a case of 29 year female who underwent right parotidectomy for PA 15 years ago which was followed by history of recurrences and now presenting with MPA involving ipsilateral lymph nodes.

Resurgence of Emergency Total Laryngectomy: An Impact of COVID-19 Pandemic.

Surgery is the preferred modality of treatment in majority of cT4a cases and selective cT3 cases of Carcinoma Larynx. COVID-19 outbreak became a global pandemic and caused significant delays and disruptions in every aspect of cancer care.

A randomized controlled study to compare analgesic efficacy of sublingual buprenorphine and intravenous tramadol in patients undergoing mastectomy.

Sublingual (SL) buprenorphine is approved for managing acute postoperative pain, characterized by easy administration, good pain relief and good patient compliance. We hypothesized that SL buprenorphine would be a better perioperative analgesic compared to intravenous (IV) opioids like tramadol in patients undergoing mastectomy surgery for breast cancer. After institutional ethics committee approval, we randomized 60 patients with breast cancer into 2 groups.

A clinicoepidemiological and management profile of metastatic carcinoma gallbladder in the northeast part of Indian patients in a tertiary care center.

Introduction: Metastatic gallbladder cancer (GBC) is a highly fatal malignancy and it is difficult to treat the advanced stage of GBC. In India, northern and northeastern states are the worst affected by this disease. We, hereby, report the clinicoepidemiological and management profile of 242 patients of metastatic carcinoma of GB.

Unusual Cause of Acute Urinary Retention in Young Male Patient: Primary Synovial Sarcoma of Prostate-A Case Report.

 Primary synovial sarcoma (SS) of the prostate is the rarest variety of prostate sarcoma. The first documented and confirmed case of SS of the prostate was published by Iwasaki et al in the year 1999; since then, only a few cases of primary SS of the prostate have been published in English literature.  We report a unique case of primary SS in a young patient who presented with acute urinary retention and underwent emergency suprapubic catheterization, and on evaluation was diagnosed with primary SS of the prostate.

Mucoepidermoid Carcinoma of the Salivary Gland: Long Term Outcomes from a Tertiary Cancer Center in India.

To analyze the patterns of failure and factors affecting recurrence and overall survival in mucoepidermoid carcinoma of the salivary gland. The hospital records were retrospectively analyzed from October 2010 to January 2016. Patients diagnosed as mucoepidermoid carcinoma of the salivary gland were eligible for analysis.

Frequency of Nucleophosmin 1 Expression by Immunohistochemistry in Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

Nucleophosmin (NPM1) mutation is one of the most common recurring genetic abnormalities seen in acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Immunohistochemistry serves as a cost effective and simple surrogate testing method for detection of NPM1 mutation. This study was conducted to evaluate the frequency of aberrant cytoplasmic nucleophosmin 1 expression in leukemic blast cells on formalin fixed bone marrow trephine biopsy (BMB) sections and also to correlate this data with the reference molecular method (reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction; RT-PCR and gene sequencing), where available.

Parietal Peritoneal Flap for Post-radiation Bladder Injury Repair.

Inadvertent bladder injuries during pelvic surgery are not uncommon. Repair of these cystotomies are generally easy. However, post-radiation, the urinary bladder becomes contracted, friable and difficult to heal.
