Purpose: Chyle leak resulting from thoracic duct (TD) injury poses significant morbidity and mortality challenges. We assessed the feasibility of using near-infrared (NIR) indocyanine green (ICG) imaging for intraoperative fluorescence TD lymphography during minimal access esophagectomy (MAE) in a semiprone position with inguinal nodal injection of ICG dye.
Methods: Ninety-nine patients with esophageal or gastroesophageal junctional cancer undergoing MAE received inguinal node injections of 2.

Background: Reconstruction using microvascular free flaps has become the standard of care in head and neck cancer surgery, and their success lies in appropriate planning, adequate revascularization, and early detection of flap compromise so that prompt salvage is possible. This study evaluates the role of infrared thermography in the planning, execution, and postoperative monitoring of microvascular flaps in head and neck reconstructions.
Methods: This is a single institutional, prospective observational study conducted at a tertiary care hospital in South India for 13 months.

Surgical manipulation of the tracheobronchial complex is a contributing factor in pulmonary morbidity of esophagectomy. Accurate dissection between membranous trachea and bronchi with esophagus is essential. This study tests the feasibility of delivering indocyanine green (ICG) in an aerosol form to achieve tracheobronchial fluorescence (ICG-TBF).

Pericapsular nerve group block (PENG) is an ultrasound-guided regional block technique that blocks the articular branches of the femoral nerve, accessory obturator nerve and obturator nerve. These nerves richly innervate the anterior capsule of the hip joint and blocking these nerves helps in hip analgesia. PENG block is commonly used in hip fracture pain perioperatively.

Purpose: With the advent of taxanes and targeted agents in neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) for breast cancer, the rates for pathologic complete response (pCR) have been steadily increasing. Surgery in these women serves as a biopsy to confirm or negate a pCR.
Methods: All newly diagnosed patients with nonmetastatic breast cancer, planned for NACT, were screened.

In health systems with little public funding and decentralized procurement processes, the pricing and quality of anti-cancer medicines directly affects access to effective anti-cancer therapy. Factors such as differential pricing, volume-dependent negotiation and reliance on low-priced generics without any evaluation of their quality can lead to supply and demand lags, high out-of-pocket expenditures for patients and poor treatment outcomes. While pooled procurement of medicines can help address some of these challenges, monitoring of the procurement process requires considerable administrative investment.

Objective: As Asian countries transition socially and economically to higher Human Development Index (HDI) levels, cancer trends are expected to shift to those seen in the Western World. A strong correlation also exists between HDI levels and age-standardized rates (ASR) for the incidence and mortality of cancer. However, there are very few reports on the trends in Asian countries, particularly in Low and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs).

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in urban Indian women and the second most common cancer in all Indian women. The epidemiology as well as biology of this cancer seems to be different in the Indian subcontinent when compared with the West. The lack of population-based breast cancer screening programs and delay in seeking a medical consult due to financial and social reasons, including lack of awareness and fear related to a cancer diagnosis, results in delayed diagnosis.
