Impact of fluorescent thoracic duct lymphography via intranodal approach in minimal access esophageal cancer surgery.

Background: Reconstruction using microvascular free flaps has become the standard of care in head and neck cancer surgery, and their success lies in appropriate planning, adequate revascularization, and early detection of flap compromise so that prompt salvage is possible. This study evaluates the role of infrared thermography in the planning, execution, and postoperative monitoring of microvascular flaps in head and neck reconstructions.

Pericapsular Nerve Group Block as an Effective Intervention for Pain Relief and Improving Functional Mobility in Cancer Patients: A Case Series.

Pericapsular nerve group block (PENG) is an ultrasound-guided regional block technique that blocks the articular branches of the femoral nerve, accessory obturator nerve and obturator nerve. These nerves richly innervate the anterior capsule of the hip joint and blocking these nerves helps in hip analgesia. PENG block is commonly used in hip fracture pain perioperatively.

Prolonged Indwelling Percutaneous Nephrostomy Leading to Purple Urinary Bag Syndrome in Palliative Care Setting: A Case Report.

Purple urine bag syndrome (PUBS) is a complication and a rare phenomenon associated with bacterial colonisation in bladder catheters in which urine turns purple in the tubing and the catheter bag. This condition can be distressing and panicking for the patients and their families as well as the medical staff caring for them. It is an interesting and unusual presentation that affects people with long-term indwelling catheters and chronic constipation.

Accuracy of Tumor Bed Biopsy for Predicting Pathologic Complete Response After Chemotherapy Among Women With Breast Cancer: Complete Responders in the Breast Study.

Purpose: With the advent of taxanes and targeted agents in neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) for breast cancer, the rates for pathologic complete response (pCR) have been steadily increasing. Surgery in these women serves as a biopsy to confirm or negate a pCR.

While pooled procurement of medicines can help address some of these challenges, monitoring of the procurement process requires considerable administrative investment.

Securing the Airway in a Patient with Massive neck Swelling, Emergency Tracheostomy: A Technical Note.

Objective: To describe the technical aspects of emergency tracheostomy in a case of extensive neck swelling with a challenging airway.

Methods: We report a case of difficult tracheostomy in a patient with a huge neck swelling causing obscured anatomical landmarks in significant stridor. A literature review was performed to identify similar cases or techniques.

Metastatic NUT Carcinoma in a Child.

Nuclear protein of the testis (NUT) carcinoma is a rare and aggressive malignancy associated with rearrangements of the NUT gene on chromosome 15q14 .This entity is often under diagnosed and there is limited literature regarding its biology and optimal management. We report a case of pediatric NUT carcinoma presenting as a mass involving the nasal septum with associated bilateral cervical lymphadenopathy.

Ultrasound-Guided Superficial Radial Nerve Block in the Emergency Department for Pain Management following Centipede Bite.

Centipede bites are reported in many parts of tropical and subtropical countries, such as India. Centipede envenomation produces significant local symptoms, with pain being the most prominent symptom. The emergency department (ED) plays a crucial role in managing the victims through appropriate pain management and control of other local and systemic symptoms.

Trans-rectal ultrasound-guided hybrid intra-cavitary and interstitial brachytherapy in carcinoma cervix: A feasibility study from a tertiary cancer center in India.

Purpose: To report the feasibility of performing hybrid intra-cavitary and interstitial (IC/IS) brachytherapy in patients with carcinoma cervix under trans-rectal ultrasound (TRUS) guidance.

Material And Methods: All patients who received an external beam radiotherapy (EBRT) dose of 50 Gy in 25 fractions with weekly chemotherapy, followed by a brachytherapy boost (21 Gy in 3 fractions) were prospectively included for analysis. IC/IS brachytherapy was performed using Fletcher style tandem and ovoid applicator with interstitial component under TRUS guidance.

Cancer incidence and mortality trends in Asia based on regions and human development index levels: an analyses from GLOBOCAN 2020.

Objective: As Asian countries transition socially and economically to higher Human Development Index (HDI) levels, cancer trends are expected to shift to those seen in the Western World. A strong correlation also exists between HDI levels and age-standardized rates (ASR) for the incidence and mortality of cancer. However, there are very few reports on the trends in Asian countries, particularly in Low and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs).

Breast Cancer in India: Screening, Detection, and Management.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in urban Indian women and the second most common cancer in all Indian women. The epidemiology as well as biology of this cancer seems to be different in the Indian subcontinent when compared with the West.
