Objectives: The subject of current work was to determine the relationship of fetal ultrasonographic biomarkers, including anogenital distance (AGD), adrenal gland volume, and penile length and width in mothers with male fetuses at 22-36 weeks of gestation for the assessment of the effect of fetal adrenal gland producing androgens on the male anogenital structures that are exposed to androgen effects as anogenital region and penis.

Methods: This study is a prospective cross-sectional study conducted in our hospital's outpatient perinatal care unit. One hundred and seventy pregnant women with a male fetus aged 22-36 weeks of gestation were included in the study.

We aimed to determine whether there is a relationship between the systemic immune-inflammation (SII) index and the recurrence of atrial fibrillation (AF) after successful direct current cardioversion (DCCV). The study included 99 patients with persistent AF who underwent successful cardioversion between 2015 and 2020. In multiple regression analyses, the SII index was found to be a better independent predictor of AF recurrence after successful DCCV (p < 0.

Background: Cannulated screws augmented with the medial buttress plate could confer greater biomechanical stability and higher union rates than the screw fixation alone for treating young patients with Pauwels type III femoral neck fractures (FNFs). No study has evaluated the effects of distal bicortical screw fixation and biomechanical properties of buttress plate augmentation under simultaneous vertical and rotational forces, physiologically acting on the hip joint. This study aimed to compare the biomechanical properties of four methods of three cannulated screw fixation under the combined axial and torsional loading in a synthetic femur model of type III FNF.

Introduction: In this study, we aimed to measure the change in penile stiffness by evaluating corpus cavernosum (CC) with shear wave elastography (SWE) in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Material And Methods: Seventy outpatient patients aged 50-80 years who were diagnosed with COPD were evaluated using SWE. Patients were divided into 2 groups according to the International Index of Erectile Function-5 (IIEF-5) questionnaire (IIEF-5 >17: Group A, IIEF-5 <17: Group B).

Pollen hypersensitivity might be a determining factor for other nonseasonal allergens because it may indicate deviation of the immune system toward T-helper type 2 activity and immunoglobulin E sensitivity. To investigate whether timothy grass pollen allergy may be a predictive factor for cat sensitization and whether there is an association between sensitivity to both allergens. A retrospective review was made of patients with symptoms of rhinitis.

Objectives: Thyroid-stimulating hormones (TSHs) are associated with the risk of differentiated thyroid cancer. The relationship between pre-operative TSH levels and aggressive features is unclear. We aimed to evaluate the relationship between pathological features of papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) and high TSH levels.

Background: Because of the broad anatomic variation in the course of the axillary nerve, several cadaveric studies have investigated the acromion-axillary nerve distance and its association with the humeral length to predict the axillary nerve location. This study aimed to analyze the acromion-axillary nerve distance (AAND) and its relation to the arm length (AL) in patients who underwent internal plate fixation for proximal humerus fractures.

Methods: The present prospective study involved 37 patients (15 female, 22 male; the mean age = 51 years, age range 19-76) with displaced proximal humerus fractures treated by open reduction and internal fixation.

J Med Virol

April 2022

Division of Geriatrics, Department of Internal Medicine, Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine, Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa, Istanbul, Turkey.

Because of the senescence of the immune system, antibody response to the COVID-19 vaccines may differ from older to younger adults. The study aim compares the titers of SARS-CoV-2 IgG antibody of patients ≥60 years who received three doses of CoronaVac vaccine and those who received two doses of CoronaVac+1 dose of Pfizer-BioNTech after 1 month of the last vaccination. Patients ≥60 years who received the CoronaVac vaccine between March 1, 2021, and April 30, 2021, who did not have COVID-19 disease before the first dose of vaccination and were negative for COVID-19 antibodies, whose antibodies were tested before the third dose of vaccination, and who did not have any COVID-19 disease during the follow-up were included.
