Epidemiological characteristics of different types of adult acne in Turkey: a prospective, controlled, multicenter study.

Introduction: Acne occurring in adults over the age of 25 years is known as acne tarda or adult acne. Three types of adult acne are recognized: persistent, late-onset, and recurrent acne. Most studies do not compare the characteristics between the three variants.

Changes caused by fluorescein in the tear film evaluated with hybrid break-up time test as a new method - Part Two: Its effect on breakup locations and other quantitative values.

Objectives: To examine the changes caused by fluorescein in the tear film by analyzing the qualitative parameters such as breakup location and also detailed quantitative parameters.

Methods: After determining the break-up time (BUT) value and breakup locations by the Non-invasive break-up time (NI-BUT) method, we re-evaluated the changes in the tear film stained with fluorescein using the topographical method. We called the topographic evaluation of the tear film stained with fluorescein as the Hybrid-BUT test.

Common Biomarkers Associated with Delirium in Hospitalized Patients with COVID-19 at the Epicentre of Turkish Coronavirus Outbreak: A Case-Control Study.

Introduction: To investigate the differences in biochemical characteristics between Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients with and without delirium in non-intensive care (IC) COVID-19 units was aimed.

Methods: This study was designed as an observational, single-centered, and case-control study consisting of 43 delirious patients and matched 45 non-delirious patients admitted to non-IC COVID-19 units. Delirium was diagnosed by a consultant psychiatrist according to the DSM-5 delirium diagnostic criteria.

IVIg-induced headache: prospective study of a large cohort with neurological disorders.

Background: Intravenous immune globulin (IVIg) is frequently used in some neurological diseases and is also the first-line therapy in Guillain-Barré syndrome, chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy, and multifocal motor neuropathy. We aimed to evaluate the frequency and characteristics of headaches, which is one of the most common side effects of IVIg treatment.

Methods: Patients who received IVIg treatment for neurological diseases were prospectively enrolled in 23 centers.

Abdominal Wall Pain and Primary Dysmenorrhea: The Importance of Myofascial Trigger Points.

Myofascial trigger points are among the often-overlooked causes of anterior abdominal wall pain and primer dysmenorrhea. It is crucial to evaluate patients with a myofascial perspective in addition to a good history and a detailed physical examination. Myofascial trigger points of the abdominal oblique muscles and rectus abdominis muscle should be considered for patients with abdominal wall pain and primer dysmenorrhea.

Naples Prognostic Score and Prediction of Left Ventricular Ejection Fraction in STEMI Patients.

The Naples score is a new prognostic score developed according to inflammatory and nutritional status and frequently evaluated in cancer patients. The present study aimed to evaluate using the Naples prognostic score (NPS) to predict the development of decreased left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) after acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). The study has a multicenter and retrospective design and included 2280 patients with STEMI who underwent primary percutaneous coronary intervention (pPCI) between 2017 and 2022.

Mortality risk factors among critically ill children with MIS-C in PICUs: a multicenter study.

Background: This study evaluated of clinical characteristics, outcomes, and mortality risk factors of a severe multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children admitted to a the pediatric intensive care unit.

Methods: A retrospective multicenter cohort study was conducted between March 2020 and April 2021 at 41 PICUs in Turkey. The study population comprised 322 children diagnosed with multisystem inflammatory syndrome.

Diagnostic Significance of Ki67 Staining Pattern in Benign Peripheral Nerve Sheath Tumors: An Additional Diagnostic Tool.

Benign peripheral nerve sheath tumors involve mainly neurofibromas, schwannomas, and their variants. Ki67 is a widely used immunohistochemical marker that predicts the proliferation rate of tumors including the nerve sheath-derived neoplasms and it is helpful to differentiate them from their malignant counterparts. However, Ki67 score is not used in distinction of the benign peripheral nerve sheath tumors types from each other.

Evaluation of the Effect of İnfection and İmmunity on the Tear Film by Scheimpflug-Placido Disc Topography- A Case Control Study.

Purpose: We aimed to compare the tear film stability of individuals who had recovered from coronavirus disease (COVID-19), that of individuals vaccinated against COVID-19 and that of healthy individuals in a control group.

Methods: This study included 61 eyes of 61 post-COVID-19 patients, 63 eyes of 63 participants who had received at least two doses of the SARS-CoV-2 mRNA BNT162b2 (Pfizer-BioNTech) vaccine, and 57 eyes of healthy individuals in a control group. We compared the groups' tear film stability.

Purpose: We aimed to determine the predictive values of fetal pancreas size and maternal serum biomarkers glycated albumin (GA) and insulin-regulated aminopeptidase (IRAP) for gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM).

Materials And Methods: In this prospective observational study including 109 pregnant women, the fetal pancreas size and maternal serum biomarkers GA and IRAP were measured at the gestational age of 20-22 weeks and later at the gestational age of 24-28 weeks, in 19 participants of them, GDM was confirmed with the 75-g oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) and the fetal pancreas size was measured in all the participants again.
