Background: Trapeziectomy and abductor pollicis longus hammock ligamentoplasty may be performed in the surgical management of trapeziometacarpal joint osteoarthritis (TMC OA). Several anaesthesia techniques are available for TMC joint surgery, including wide-awake local anaesthesia no tourniquet (WALANT), regional anaesthesia, and general anaesthesia (GA). The aim of this study was to compare the clinical outcomes of trapeziectomy and abductor pollicis longus hammock ligamentoplasty performed under WALANT versus GA.

An Assessment of Intermittent and Continuous Enteral Feeding in Critically Ill Children.

Background: The inability to ensure adequate nutrition for patients, and failure to provide adequate calorie and protein intake, result in malnutrition, leading to increased morbidity and mortality. The present study assesses the two approaches to enteral nutrition-intermittent and continuous enteral feeding-in critically ill pediatric patients in Türkiye to determine the superiority of one method over the other.

Background: This study aimed to compare the effects of microfracture (MF) versus intra-articular hyaluronic acid (HA) + oral glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate (GC) in addition to MF in patients with osteoarthritic knees who underwent medial open wedge high tibial osteotomy (MOWHTO) after an average follow-up of five years.

Methods: The study was designed retrospectively and included patients who underwent MOWHTO due to gonarthrosis, the MF method performed on these patients, and HA + GC treatments applied in addition to MF. Generalised arterial calcification of infancy, an autosomal recessive disorder characterised by abnormal calcification of medium and large-sized arteries, represents a rare cause of dilated cardiomyopathy. We present the case of a two-month-old girl diagnosed posthumously with dilated cardiomyopathy. Studies suggest that early initiation of treatment can improve prognosis in generalised arterial calcification of infancy, so clinicians should be alert to the condition, especially in patients displaying generalised narrowing of medium and large-sized arteries.

The Effect of Room Arrangement on the Mood and Milk Volume of Mothers Who Had Cesarean Delivery and Were Not with Their Infants.

This study aimed to compare the effect of room arrangement on the mood and milk volume of mothers who gave birth by cesarean section and whose babies were not with them. The study included 89 mothers with and without infants living in the same room (Group 1) and 94 mothers without and without infants living in the same room (Group 2) (n = 183). The expression of milk was performed twice (0-6 h after birth and 36-48 h before discharge) using an electric breast pump.
