Background: Anaplastic thyroid cancer is a rare and aggressive cancer with no standard radiotherapy-based local treatment. Based on data suggesting synergy between pazopanib and paclitaxel in anaplastic thyroid cancer, NRG Oncology did a double-blind, placebo-controlled, randomised phase 2 clinical trial comparing concurrent paclitaxel and intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) with the addition of pazopanib or placebo with the aim of improving overall survival in this patient population.

Methods: Eligible patients were aged 18 years or older with a pathological diagnosis of anaplastic thyroid cancer, any TNM stage, Zubrod performance status of 0-2, no recent haemoptysis or bleeding, and no brain metastases.

Background: Post-mastectomy radiation therapy (PMRT) in women with pathologic stage T1-2N1M0 breast cancer is controversial.

Atypical teratoid rhabdoid tumor (ATRT) is a highly malignant embryonal tumor of the CNS, largely affecting pediatric patients, with exceedingly rare cases in adults at an estimated annual incidence of 1/1,000,000. We report a unique case of ATRT in a 43-year-old female patient who first presented with progressive focal headaches. Imaging revealed a sellar mass with suprasellar extensions, which was partially removed via a transsphenoidal resection.

This study compare dosimetric parameters and secondary malignancy risk (SMN) using intensity modulated proton therapy (IMPT) and volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) plans for the treatment of sinonasal cancer (SC). After IRB-approval, 10 patients previously treated with IMPT for cancers of the ethmoid, sphenoid, maxillary, or frontal sinuses were identified. Dosimetrists blinded to the IMPT plans generated VMAT plans for comparison.

Additionally, clinical trials are affected by a lack of diversity inclusive of minority patients, rural residents, or low-income individuals. Ultrasound-guided percutaneous tissue sampling of the breast has positively altered the management of breast lesions, both benign and malignant, since its inception in the 1980s and subsequent widespread acceptance in the 1990s. Its safety, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness have been validated in several studies. However, percutaneous biopsy serves a patient best when performed by an operator with full awareness of patient׳s salient imaging findings; a knowledge of the benefits, limitations, and technical requirements of breast ultrasound; and a thorough understanding of what constitutes an adequate and concordant pathologic specimen.
