BACKGROUND Rotavirus is a common cause of gastroenteritis in children. Neurological manifestations associated with rotavirus infections are well described and range from benign afebrile convulsions to lethal encephalopathy or encephalitis.CASE PRESENTATION We present an uncommon neurological manifestation in a Caucasian child in the course of a rotavirus infection.

Breastfeeding surveyed using routine data.

Background: The purpose of this study was to investigate breastfeeding as a health indicator through routine data registered at public child health centres. The prevalence and course of breastfeeding were surveyed, as well as factors that affect breastfeeding.

Material And Method: Breastfeeding status at six weeks and six months of age and other routine data were systematically recorded in a newly developed electronic medical records system (Health Profile 0-20 years) for infants attending public child health centres in Bergen in the period 2010-11.

[Cardiovascular risk assessment for the use of ADHD drugs in children].

Background: Drug therapy for ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) has generally been regarded as safe. ECG screening of healthy children and adolescents before initiating this type of treatment appears to be usual in Norway, despite recommendations that ECGs should only be undertaken in individuals who are at risk. The purpose of this article is to clarify relevant guidelines for cardiovascular risk assessment for the use of ADHD drugs in children and adolescents, as well as to propose practical recommendations.

[Use of the dataset "The Visible Human Project" in research].

The Visible Human Project has been controversial since the National Library of Medicine launched it in 1996. The project uses real bodies to create 3-dimensional virtual bodies. The first body to be photographed belonged to an executed criminal.

[Paediatric neurology and habilitation in Norway].

Background: Based on results from a national survey we discuss the status and prospects of Norwegian child neurology and habilitation.

Material And Methods: A questionnaire on neurology and habilitation was sent to all 22 Norwegian departments of paediatrics.

Results: All departments responded.
