Objective: It is unknown whether delay in diagnosis affects morbidity reportedly in paraneoplastic syndromes (PNS). We aimed to explore various aspects of PNS, including prevalence, clinical characteristics, diagnostic criteria, and treatment outcomes.
Methods: We studied n-PNS diagnosis between 2016 to 2023, and included only patients with positive onconeural antibodies, who developed cancer, and exhibited a recognizable PNS phenotype.

Purpose: To assess the influence of Botulinum neurotoxin A (BoNT-A) injection on meibomian gland function and dry eye in patients diagnosed with Blepharospasm (BPS) and Hemifacial spam (HFS).
Methods: Adult patients aged 18 years or older who suffer from periocular dystonia, and were treated with BoNT-A injections, were recruited in this interventional prospective study between 2023 and 2024. Each patient was followed up for a period of three months.

Introduction: To compare histopathological findings of placentas of dichorionic diamniotic twin pregnancies of in-vitro fertilization (IVF), conceived after fresh embryo transfer (ET) and frozen-thawed ET.
Methods: This retrospective study compared dichorionic diamniotic twin IVF pregnancies that resulted in livebirths during 2010-2022. The placental findings were classified according to definitions curated by the 2016 Amsterdam Placental Workshop Group Consensus Statement.

Background: Treatment of () infections is challenged by antibiotic resistance. The urease enzyme contributes to colonization in the gastric acidic environment by producing a neutral microenvironment. We hypothesized that urease inhibition could affect viability.

Plasmonic nanostructure arrays, designed for performance as pixels in an advanced SERS imaging device, were fabricated by gallium focused ion beam (FIB). Though the FIB is best suited for etching holes and negative structures, our previously reported simulations favor protrusions. Herein, we report on the FIB methodology to "sculpt" positive structures by "ion-blasting" away the surrounding material.

Two-dimensional (2D) chromium(III) sulfide has recently attracted increased attention from researchers due to its interesting electronic and magnetic properties and has great potential for application in spintronics and optoelectronics to create sensitive photodetectors. However, the synthesis of 2D CrS crystals is still a challenging task. At present, the mainly used method is vapor deposition, which is a poorly scalable, time-consuming, and expensive process.

In metallic transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs), which remain superconducting down to single-layer thickness, the critical temperature T decreases for Nb-based, and increases for Ta-based materials. This contradicting trend is puzzling, impeding the development of a unified theory. Here we study the thickness-evolution of superconducting tunneling spectra in TaSheterostructures.

In Israel, The Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) vaccine is recommended to both genders up to age 26. Many 18-26 olds missed their opportunity for vaccination during school. Our study described HPV knowledge, attitudes and vaccination intentions among unvaccinated 18-26 Israeli adults across various demographics, aiming to inform future catch-up vaccination strategies.

This study corresponds with a dispute in gerontology literature about whether a younger subjective age acts as a psychological defense for older adults by perceiving themselves as younger in order to dissociate from their age-group or as a marker of good physical health. This cross-sectional study presents a preliminary step to clarify this dispute. We examined the role of emotional empathy (measured by the Multifaceted Empathy Test) as a moderator in the ageism (measured implicitly by the Brief Implicit Association Test) and subjective age (measured on Likert scale) association on a convenience sample of 203 community-dwelling older adults (aged 65-90, M = 74.

Given the overrepresentation of older Israelis in political protests and the growing number of political protests worldwide, the present study aimed to examine older persons' perspective on their involvement in the protests and how they view age and older age in the context of political protests. In total, 30 protesters over the age of 65 were interviewed, while employing a maximum variations methodology for the selection of the sample. Interviews were analyzed thematically.

Background: Most infants with febrile urinary tract infection (UTI) do not have an underlying anatomical risk factor. Thus, other non-anatomical risk factors should be considered. Since the most common pathogens arise from the fecal microbiota, our aim was to investigate whether the gut microbiota composition differs between febrile infants younger than 2 months with or without UTI.

Clinicians have suggested but not shown how anxiety involves altered planning. Here, I synthesize and extend computational models of planning in a framework that can be used to explain planning biases in anxiety. To spur its development, I spotlight two of its promising areas: task construal and meta-control.

Purpose: To explore the effect of cobalt toxicity on vision.
Methods: A total of 103 wild-type (WT) mice were injected with cobalt chloride by two routes in different concentrations: single intravenous (IV) high or low doses (total, n = 43); or daily repeated intraperitoneal (IP) high (three days) or low (28 days, 56 days) dose, and low-dose cobalt with added minocycline (56 days) (total, n = 60); 10 WT mice served as a control group. An additional group of 17 immunodeficient NOD scid gamma (NSG) mice were injected IV or IP with cobalt, and 10 NSG mice served as control.

, a critical tumor suppressor gene, plays a significant role in pancreatic biology and tumorigenesis. Genetic background and sex are known to influence phenotypic outcomes, but their impact on pancreatic weight in -deficient mice remains unclear. This study investigates the impact of deficiency on pancreatic weight in first-generation (F1) mice from diverse collaborative cross (CC) lines, focusing on the influence of genetic background and sex.

Lymphoma growth, progression, and dissemination require tumor cell interaction with supporting vessels and are facilitated through tumor-promoted angiogenesis, lymphangiogenesis, and/or lymphoma vessel co-option. Vessel co-option has been shown to be responsible for tumor initiation, metastasis, and resistance to anti-angiogenic treatment but is largely uncharacterized in the setting of lymphoma. We developed an in vitro model to study lymphoma-vessel interactions and found that mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) cells co-cultured on Matrigel with human umbilical vein (HUVEC) or human lymphatic (HLEC) endothelial cells migrate to and anneal with newly formed capillary-like (CLS) or lymphatic-like (LLS) structures, consistent with lymphoma-vessel co-option.

Emergency and crisis events can impair daily functioning. In crisis situations, individuals react with different intensity and in different ways. The research question in this study was: What are the mechanisms of action in biodanza that lead to the increase of resilience, affectivity, vitality, and morale in times of war? One hundred and twelve dancers participated in this mixed-method study, their biodanza experience ranging from one to over 15 years.

This study aimed to investigate the mathematical abilities of adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) compared to typically developing (TD) peers, focusing on procedural thinking, arithmetic comprehension, and algebraic technique. Sixty-seven adolescents (31 with ASD, 36 TD) participated in the study. A comprehensive mathematics skills test, incorporating oral and written components, was individually administered to assess abilities across three main mathematical domains.
