Evaluation of the consumption pattern and efficacy of Linezolid in COVID-19 hospitalized patients in a hospital in Tehran-Iran.

Background: The inappropriate use of antibiotics increases the costs of treatment, antibiotic resistance, increased disease length and duration of hospital stay.

Objectives: The aim of this study was investigating the pattern of use and effectiveness of the Linezolid in COVID-19 hospitalized patients.

Methods: In this retrospective cross-sectional analytical study was carried out from February 2020 (from the beginning of the pandemic in Iran) to the end of September 2020, 32 COVID-19 patients that used Linezolid were included.

Purpose: With the extensive presence of Covid-19, it is imperative to find compounds that can obstruct the virus's inflammatory activity and perhaps even stop the inflammatory phase from occurring. Several neuropeptides act as immune system regulators, which nerve terminals release as co-transmitters. It has been suggested that Neuropeptide Y (NPY) may be involved in inflammatory diseases through its ability to regulate the function of inflammatory cells.

Glucosinolates in cancer prevention and treatment: experimental and clinical evidence.

Glucosinolates are naturally occurring β-d-thioglucosides that mainly exist in the Brassicaceae family. The enzyme myrosinase hydrolyzes glucosinolates to form isothiocyanates, which are chemical protectors. Complications and outcomes of cochlear implantation in children younger than 12 months: A multicenter study.

Objectives: Evidence suggests that Cochlear Implantation (CI) is a beneficial approach for auditory and speech skills improvement in children with severe to profound hearing loss. However, it remains controversial if implantation in children <12 months is safe and effective compared to older children. The present study aimed to determine whether children's ages affect surgical complications and auditory and speech development.

Psychometric properties of Persian version of wound-QOL questionnaire among older adults suffering from chronic wounds.

Background: Patients with chronic wounds experience various biopsychosocial problems which severely affects their quality of life (QoL). Thus, a Persian instrument to assess the QoL of these patients is required. This study aimed to determine the psychometric properties of the Persian version of the wound-QOL questionnaire.

Reduce the risk of ventilator-associated pneumonia in ICU patients by Ozonated water mouthwash: A double-blind randomized clinical trial.

Background: The aim of this study was to compare the 2 mouthwash solutions, including chlorhexidine (CHG) and ozonated water (OZW) to reduce the risk of ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) in patients on mechanical ventilation in intensive care unit (ICU).

Methods: This randomized double-blind clinical trial was performed in ICU units of hospitals. Patients (n=73) were selected and divided into 2 groups of CHG (n=37) and OZW mouthwash (n=36).

Uterine torsion as an elusive obstetrical emergency in pregnancy: is there an association between gravid uterus torsion and Ehlers-Danlos syndrome?: a case report.

Background: Timely diagnosis of uterine torsion can lead to acceptable maternal and fetal outcomes. This article presents the case of a 42-year-old pregnant woman, diagnosed with a rare 270° uterine torsion, in whom proper management led to good maternal outcomes but, unfortunately, severe prematurity and metabolic acidosis led to neonatal death. Moreover, the mother was clinically suspected for Ehlers-Danlos syndrome.

A giant early second-trimester placental chorioangioma associated with isolated proteinuria and histopathologically confirmed placental insufficiency, a novel association: A case report.

We present a case of giant chorioangioma at 18 weeks of gestation leading to fetal hypertrophic cardiomyopathy without other evidences of fetal volume overload and late-onset isolated proteinuria. Oligohydramnios developed at term and placental insufficiency was confirmed on histopathological examination and a nonanemic nonthrombocytopenic normal weight healthy baby was delivered.

The Effects of Curcumin on the Side Effects of Anticancer Drugs in Chemotherapy: A Randomized Controlled Trial.

Curcumin, the active ingredient of the spice turmeric, has been shown to have anticancer activities in several preclinical and clinical studies. The prophylactic effect of curcumin against chemotherapy-induced damage and side effects was evaluated in a double-blind, placebo-controlled randomized trial. Eighty cancer patients on standard chemotherapy regimens were randomly assigned to receive curcumin as adjuvant therapy (500 mg per 12 hours) and matched control group to receive placebo for 9 weeks.

The Effects of Curcumin Nanoparticles Incorporated into Collagen-Alginate Scaffold on Wound Healing of Skin Tissue in Trauma Patients.

Wound healing is a biological process that is mainly crucial for the rehabilitation of injured tissue. The incorporation of curcumin (Cur) into a hydrogel system is used to treat skin wounds in different diseases due to its hydrophobic character. In this study, sodium alginate and collagen, which possess hydrophilic, low toxic, and biocompatible properties, were utilized.

Military nurses' Experiences of Interprofessional education in Crisis Management: a Qualitative Content Analysis.

Introduction: Today's human health care needs are so complex and dealing with them requires interprofessional collaboration and teamwork, which must be learned by the appropriate educational methods. In this regard, the Crisis Management Interprofessional Education program (CMIPE) in the form of desktop maneuver with the presence of the military nurses and other professional groups involved in the crisis was designed and implemented in Military Nursing School in Tehran, Iran. The aim of this study was to explore the experiences of the military nurses of participating in an interprofessional education program in crisis management domain.

Systematic review: Effectiveness of herbal oral care products on ventilator-associated pneumonia.

Ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) resulting from bacterial infection is a prevalent medical problem in intensive care units (ICUs). The purpose of this study was to systematically review available studies on oral products employed to control and reduce VAP in patients undergoing tracheal intubation. This study was based on a systematic review of clinical trial data from science databases such as PubMed, Cochrane, Scopus, and Web of science.

Effect of Curcumin on Severity of Functional Dyspepsia: a Triple Blinded Clinical Trial.

Despite various therapeutic approaches, up to 50% of patients with functional dyspepsia seek alternative treatments. The global impact of the new coronavirus, severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), infection that caused COVID-19 has been evident in the last few months from the unprecedented socioeconomic disruption to more than 600,000 deaths. The lack of vaccine and effective therapeutic agents for the disease prompted world-wide effort to test those antiviral therapeutics already in use for other diseases. Another interesting approach has been based on the pathological sequel of the disease that involve severe inflammatory reaction (or the cytokine storm) associated with pneumonia in critically ill patients.
