Background: Surgical resection is the most effective method for craniopharyngioma, with complex operations and a high incidence of complications, especially for complex craniopharyngioma. The study focuses on selecting a proper surgical method to treat complex craniopharyngioma. A clinical study was conducted in this direction to explore the efficacy of expanded endoscopic endonasal transsphenoidal approach (EETS) and transcranial approach (TCA) in the treatment of complex craniopharyngioma and their effects on pituitary function and complications of patients.

Objective: Single-pill amlodipine besylate (AML) plus losartan (LOS) has been used to treat inadequately controlled hypertension after antihypertensive monotherapy; however, relevant data in China are limited. This study aimed to compare the efficacy and safety of single-pill AML/LOS and LOS alone in Chinese patients with inadequately controlled hypertension after LOS treatment.
Methods: In this multicenter, double-blind, randomized, controlled phase III clinical trial, patients with inadequately controlled hypertension after 4 weeks of LOS treatment were randomized to receive daily single-pill AML/LOS (5/100 mg, AML/LOS group, = 154) or LOS (100 mg, LOS group, = 153) tablets for 8 weeks.
Hypothalamic median eminence (ME) is a potential niche for neurons and oligodendrocytes, and trophic factors may regulate hypothalamic function by inducing cellular changes in the ME region. To determine whether diet-induced plasticity exists in hypothalamic stem cells dormant under physiological conditions, we used a combination of a normal diet, a high-fat diet, and a ketogenic diet (a low-carb, high-fat diet) to compare the proliferation of tanycytes (TCs) and oligodendrocyte precursor cells (OPCs) in the ME area of mice under the different diets. The results showed that the ketogenic diet could induce and promote the proliferation of OPCs in the ME area, and blocking the fatty acid oxidation program could inhibit the proliferation of OPCs induced by a ketogenic diet.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the efficacy and safety of extrapleural block (EPB) application in patients with coronary artery disease after thoracoscopic surgery.
Methods: Patients with typical symptoms of angina and myocardial ischemia who underwent thoracoscopic surgery at our institution between December 2018 and December 2020 were screened for eligibility and they received paravertebral blocking (PVB), EPB, and patient-controlled intravenous analgesia (PCIA). Visual analog scale (VAS) scores were used to assess the analgesic effect and safety outcomes included heart rate, incidence of postoperative rescue analgesics, cardiac complications, and adverse reactions such as nausea and vomiting.

The outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has caused massive infections and large death tolls worldwide. Despite many studies on the clinical characteristics and the treatment plans of COVID-19, they rarely conduct in-depth prognostic research on leveraging consecutive rounds of multimodal clinical examination and laboratory test data to facilitate clinical decision-making for the treatment of COVID-19. To address this issue, we propose a multistage multimodal deep learning (MMDL) model to (1) first assess the patient's current condition (i.

MicroRNA-365 (miR-365) has been revealed to be a vital regulator in tumorigenesis of multiple cancers, while there is a large gap in the knowledge about miR-365 expression and gastric cancer (GC). This research focused on the effects of miR-365 and paired box 6 (PAX6) on GC development. Levels of miR-365 and PAX6 in GC tissues and cell lines were determined, followed by the screening of the AGS and NCI-N87 cells.

Cerebral infarction is one of the leading causes of death worldwide, in which angiogenesis plays a critical role. On the other hand, accumulating evidence has demonstrated that microRNAs (miRNAs) function as key modulators in the formation and progression of cerebral infarction. However, the molecular mechanisms of miRNAs underlying cerebral infarction-associated angiogenesis remain unclear.

Cisplatin has been widely used as a conventional treatment for patients with non‑small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). However, primary and acquired cisplatin resistances are frequently developed during the treatment of patients with NSCLC, leading to an increased mortality rate. Accumulating evidence demonstrated that aberrantly expressed microRNAs (miRs) are involved in the development of chemoresistance.

Study Objective: Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) play a role in pain relief, especially in postoperative pain caused by inflammation. They have demonstrated significant opioid dose-sparing effects, which help in reducing postoperative effects and opioid side effects. The objective of this meta-analysis was to explore the role of NSAIDs in reducing postoperative pain at different time intervals and provide reference for medication after lumbar spine surgery by a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCT).
