Herein, we describe a sustainable Co(II)-catalyzed synthesis of pyrroles and pyridines. Using a Co(II)-catalyst [CoII2(La)2Cl2] (1a) bearing redox-active 2-(phenyldiazenyl)-1,10-phenanthroline) (La) scaffold, various substituted pyrroles and pyridines were synthesized in good yields, taking alcohol as one of the primary feedstock. Pyrroles were synthesized by the equimolar reaction of 2-amino and secondary alcohols.

Viruses, bacteria, fungus, protozoans, and different metazoan parasites and parasitoids present a constant threat to insects. Insect immunity has two components: humoral and cell mediated. Humoral immunity can be achieved by various antimicrobial proteins, namely, cecropins, sarcotoxin, defensin, attacin, etc.

Food spoilage has become a worldwide problem. Limosilactobacillus fermentum LAB212, isolated from home-made curd produces some potent antifungal compounds which can combat a wide range of spoilage and pathogenic fungi by disrupting their cell wall. Dual culture overlay assay and co-culture assay have confirmedly shown the potentiality of the strain.

Larvae of the elephant mosquitoes, Toxorhynchites spp. (Diptera: Culicidae) are predacious on larvae of other mosquito species and some small aquatic organisms; this predatory behavior can be applied in (mosquito) vector control. The present study examined the feeding behavior of Toxorhynchites splendens on Aedes albopictus in relation to search area [volume of water (X1)] and prey density (X2), prey instars, predatory preference and larvae's functional response on variable prey densities.

In this communication, the joint impacts of the process of melting as well as wedge angle entity on hydromagnetic hyperbolic tangent nanofluid flow owing to permeable wedge-shaped surface in the incidence of suspended nanoparticles along with radiation, Soret and Dufour numbers are scrutinized. The mathematical model which represents the system consists of a system of highly non-linear coupled partial differential equations. These equations are solved using a finite-difference-based MATLAB solver which implements the Lobatto IIIa collocation formula and is fourth-order accurate.

Metabolic reactions in the body transform the administered drug into metabolites. These metabolites exhibit diverse biological activities. Drug metabolism is the major underlying cause of drug overdose-related toxicity, adversative drug effects and the drug's reduced efficacy.

We consider coupled matter-waves solitons in Bose-Einstein condensates and study the dynamics under the combined effects of gravity and reflecting potential. The dynamics of matter-wave near a reflector oscillating periodically with time generates the dynamics of a special kind of localized structure called oscillon. We derive a mechanical model for the coupled oscillon dynamics.

Phthalates are a family of reprotoxicant compounds, predominantly used as a plasticizer to improve the flexibility and longevity of consumable plastic goods. After their use these plastic products find their way to the waste disposal sites where they leach out the hazardous phthalates present within them, into the surrounding environment, contaminating soil, groundwater resources, and the nearby water bodies. Subsequently, phthalates move into the living system through the food chain and exhibit the well-known phenomenon of biological magnification.

Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is the most common kidney cancer leading to 140,000 deaths per year. Among all RCCs 80% evolve from the epithelial proximal tubular cells within the kidney. There is a high tendency of developing chemoresistance and resistance to radiation therapy in most RCC patients.

We previously reported that mitochondrial CYP1 enzymes participate in the metabolism of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and other carcinogens leading to mitochondrial dysfunction. In this study, using Cyp1b1-/-, Cyp1a1/1a2-/-, and Cyp1a1/1a2/1b1-/- mice, we observed that cigarette and environmental toxins, namely benzo[a]pyrene (BaP) and 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD), induce pancreatic mitochondrial respiratory dysfunction and pancreatitis. Our results suggest that aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) activation and resultant mitochondrial dysfunction are associated with pancreatic pathology.

Application of heavy metal resistant plant growth promoting rhizobacteria has an important role as they help to evade metal-induced toxicity in plants on one hand and enhance plant growth on the other. The present study is therefore focused on the characterization of a cadmium resistant bacterial strain isolated from heavy metal contaminated rhizospheric soil designated as S8. This S8 strain was selected in terms of cadmium resistance and plant growth promoting traits.

Agricultural productivity is proven to be hampered by the synthesis of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and production of stress-induced ethylene under salinity stress. One-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid (ACC) is the direct precursor of ethylene synthesized by plants. Bacteria possessing ACC deaminase activity can use ACC as a nitrogen source preventing ethylene production.

Results from studies involving exposure to road traffic noise and risk of hypertension are diverse and have seldom reached statistical significance. This study was designed with the aim of investigating whether there is any association between road traffic noise and prevalence of hypertension in an urban adult population. Similar studies have never been reported from India.

Background: It is hypothesized that exposure to transportation noise is associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease among adult population. The present study further explores this association in the light of new findings. The objective of this study was to perform a meta-analysis of studies reported during the last 3 decades on the association of transportation noise exposure with cardiovascular disease endpoints among adult population in cross-sectional studies.

There is an established evidence that exposure to high levels of road traffic noise is associated with elevated risk of coronary heart disease (CHD). The results however have been heterogeneous and mostly inconclusive. The present investigation aimed to examine this association in adult subjects, with a secondary aim of identifying potentially vulnerable sub-populations.

Preceding research has linked noise exposure, road traffic bring the dominant community source, with annoyance, which is an indicator of more serious, chronic health conditions. This study aimed to explore the association between residential road traffic noise and self-reported annoyance from an adult Indian population, residing close to roadways. The cross-sectional study used a questionnaire survey in an urban Indian municipality along roadways, where faηade noise assessment was made manually.
