Plant species from the genus were used in Ayurveda and in other folklore medicines for treating ailments for centuries. In this study, we have hypothesized to evaluate the secondary metabolites as potent anti-inflammatory agents from the genus A library of secondary metabolites of the said genus was curated from the PubChem database and was subjected to energy minimization using UCSF Chimera software employing the AMBER force field. Initially, molecular docking was performed to evaluate the binding affinity of the curated library against the enzymes cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1), cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), and 5-Lipoxygenase (5-LOX) using AutoDock Vina.

Stimuli-responsive controlled drug delivery systems have attracted the attention of researchers in recent decades due to their potential application in developing efficient drug carriers that are responsive to applied stimuli triggers. In this work, we present the synthesis of L-lysine (an amino acid that combines both amine and carboxylic acid groups in a single unit) modified mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MS@Lys NPs) for the delivery of the anticancer bioactive agent (curcumin, Cur) to cancer cells. To begin, mesoporous silica hybrid nanoparticles (MS@GPTS NPs) with 3-glycidoxypropyl trimethoxy silane (GPTS) were synthesized.

Photoplethysmography (PPG) signals are widely used in clinical practice as a diagnostic tool since PPG is noninvasive and inexpensive. In this article, machine learning techniques were used to improve the performance of classifiers for the detection of cardiovascular disease (CVD) from PPG signals. PPG signals occupy a large amount of memory and, hence, the signals were dimensionally reduced in the initial stage.

Enhanced radiative efficiency, long carrier lifetimes, and high carrier mobilities are hallmarks of perovskite solar cells. Considering this, complete cells experience large nonradiative recombination losses that restrict their considerably below the Shockley-Queisser limit. Auger recombination, which involves two free photo-induced carriers and a trapped charge carrier, is one potential mechanism.

Department of Chemistry and Biosciences, Srinivasa Ramanujan Centre, SASTRA Deemed to Be University, Kumbakonam, 612001, Tamil Nadu, India. Electronic address:

Endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) have recently gained prominence as emerging pollutants due to their significant negative impacts on diverse living forms in ecosystems, including humans, by altering their endocrine systems. EDCs are a prominent category of emerging contaminants in various aquatic settings. Given the growing population and limited access to freshwater resources, their expulsion from aquatic systems is also a severe issue.

The loading of drugs or medicinally active compounds has recently been performed using metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), which are thought to be a new type of porous material in which organic ligands and metal ions can self-assemble to form a network structure. The quercetin (QRC) loading and biofilm application on a cyclodextrin-based metal-organic framework via a solvent diffusion approach is successfully accomplished in the current study. The antibacterial plant flavonoid QRC is loaded onto β-CD-K MOFs to create the composite containing inclusion complexes (ICs) and denoted as QRC:β-CD-K MOFs.

The current physicochemical methods for decolorizing toxic synthetic dyes are not sustainable to halt the environmental damage as they are expensive and often produce concentrated sludge, which may lead to secondary disposal problems. Biocatalysis (microbes and/or their enzymes) is a cost-effective, versatile, energy-saving and clean alternative. The most common enzymes involved in dye degradation are laccases, azoreductases and peroxidases.

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a major source of death and disability worldwide as a result of motor vehicle accidents, falls, attacks and bomb explosions. Currently, there are no FDA-approved drugs to treat TBI patients predominantly because of a lack of appropriate methods to deliver drugs to the brain for therapeutic effect. Existing clinical and pre-clinical studies have shown that minocycline's neuroprotective effects either through high plasma protein binding or an increased dosage requirement have resulted in neurotoxicity.

It is absolutely necessary to extract the photovoltaic (PV) model parameters to anticipate the energy production of PV systems accurately. In the literature, many studies have analyzed and discussed various strategies for handling the parameter computation of the PV model. However, very few studies have been conducted to formulate the fitness function, and no studies have been presented on the methodologies to solve the nonlinear, multivariable, and complicated PV models based on empirical data.

Eur Phys J E Soft Matter

February 2023

Department of Physics, Condensed Matter Research Laboratory (CMRL), Research Park, Bannari Amman Institute of Technology, Sathyamangalam, Tamilnadu, 638 401, India.

The novel series of hydrogen bond liquid crystals were synthesized from the 2-methylglutaric acid (MGA) and 4-alkyloxybenzoic acid (nOBA) compounds. The induced smectic B phase with different texture (spine texture, needle texture, mosaic texture, natural mosaic texture and marble texture) were identified by polarizing optical microscope. Due to breaking of in-plane rotational symmetry within molecular layers, smectic B phase is tempted by suppressing other usual mesophases.

The self-assembly of tetrarhenium metallacycles [{Re(CO)}(μ-dhaq)(μ-N-N)] (3a, N-N = 1,3-bis(1-butylbenzimidazol-2-yl)benzene; 3b, N-N = 1,3-bis(1-octylbenzimidazol-2-yl)benzene), (H-dhaq = 1,4-dihydroxy-9,10-anthraquinone) and [{Re(CO)}(μ-thaq)(μ-N-N)] (4, N-N = 1,3-bis(1-butylbenzimidazol-2-yl)benzene), (H-thaq = 1,2,4-trihydroxy-9,10-anthraquinone) under solvothermal conditions is described. The metallacycles 3a,b and 4 underwent aggregation-induced emission enhancement (AIEE) in THF upon the incremental addition of water. TEM images revealed that metallacycle 3a in a 60% aqueous THF solution formed rectangular aggregates with a wide size distribution, while a 90% aqueous THF solution resulted in the formation of a mixture of nanorods and amorphous aggregates due to rapid and abrupt aggregation.
