Background: Vasodilatation and bacterial dislocation are the main contributors to the catastrophic events in patients with decompensated liver cirrhosis (DLC).

Aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate the impacts of adding midodrine and rifaximin on morbidity, mortality, and quality of life in patients with DLC.

Methods: This interventional clinical study included 100 consecutively enrolled DLC patients randomized 1 : 1 into two groups.

Guideline-directed medical therapy (GDMT) has improved outcomes in patients with heart failure, including the use of renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system inhibitors, which can hinder the excretion of potassium, resulting in hyperkalaemia. New potassium binders (NPBs) can prevent this adverse effect; however, the efficacy and safety of NPB for this indication have not been fully established. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis synthesizing randomized controlled trials (RCTs), which were retrieved by systematically searching PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, and Cochrane through 26 April 2023.

Evaluation of performance of hearing aid users using Acoustic Change Complex (ACC) and behavioral measures.

Objective: To validate the clinical use of Acoustic Change Complex (ACC) as an objective tool in children who use hearing Aids and explore how far ACC response parameters could be correlated to behavioral tests.

Method: Sixty Arabic speaking children, using binaural Hearing Aids (H.As), participated in the present study.

Aim: The study aimed to evaluate serum vitamin D concentrations among neonates with pneumonia.

Methods: This case-control study enrolled 33 neonates with pneumonia in addition to 30 healthy controls. CBC, CRP, Serum vitamin D and Pentraxin 3 levels were measured for all participants.

Evaluation of Adjunctive Use of Low-Level Diode Laser Biostimulation with Combined Orthodontic Regenerative Therapy.

Background: The combined orthodontic regenerative therapy approach can greatly enhance periodontal conditions and dentofacial aesthetics in many situations. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of 940nm low-level diode laser biostimulation in enhancement of intrabony wound healing with combined orthodontic/regenerative therapy in chronic periodontitis subjects suffering from malocclusion.

Methods: Fifteen chronic periodontitis adult patients with at least two intrabony defects and requiring orthodontic treatment for abnormalities in occlusion were included.

Effectiveness of Intra-anal Biofeedback and Electrical Stimulation in the Treatment of Children With Refractory Monosymptomatic Nocturnal Enuresis: A Comparative Randomized Controlled Trial.

Purpose: To compare the effects of intra-anal biofeedback (BF) and intra-anal electrical stimulation (ES) on pelvic floor muscles (PFMs) activity, nocturnal bladder capacity, and frequency of wet night episodes in children with refractory primary monosymptomatic nocturnal enuresis (PMNE).

Methods: Ninety children of both sexes aged 8-12 years with refractory PMNE participated in this study. They were randomly assigned to 3 groups of equal number: control group (CON) that underwent behavioral therapy and PFM training, and 2 study groups (BF and ES) that underwent the same program in addition to intra-anal BF training and intra-anal ES, respectively.

Safety of high-dose intravitreal triamcinolone acetonide as low-cost alternative to anti-vascular endothelial growth factor agents in lower-middle-income countries.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the safety of high-dose intravitreal triamcinolone acetonide (IVTA) as affordable low-cost alternative to anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (anti-vascular endothelial growth factor [anti-VEGF] agents) in lower-middle-income countries.

Patients And Methods: This was a retrospective interventional non-comparative case series. The study recruited patients who received 20 mg IVTA for treating various retinal and optic nerve diseases over the past 5 years.

COMPARISON BETWEEN PARS PLANA VITRECTOMY WITH VERSUS WITHOUT A 360° EPISCLERAL BAND IN THE MANAGEMENT OF GUNSHOT PERFORATING EYE INJURY.

Purpose: To evaluate whether omitting the use of the 360° episcleral band in combination with pars plana vitrectomy and silicone oil tamponade had an effect on either anatomical or functional success in cases of perforating eye injury due to gunshot.

Methods: A retrospective consecutive interventional study from medical records. Surgeries were performed in the period from January 2011 until the end of December 2013.
