The routine plain-film abdominal series, consisting of supine and upright abdominal radiographs and upright chest radiograph of 246 patients, who presented with abdominal pain from the emergency room of Bangkok Metropolitan Administration Medical College and Vajira Hospital from January 2000 to May 2001 were reviewed. Each radiograph was independently interpreted to detect any radiographic abnormality. Radiographic abnormalities were detected in 35 per cent on abdominal films and 13 per cent on chest films.

This is a case report of retroperitoneal mucinous cystadenocarcinoma which was operated on for a preoperative diagnosis of ovarian tumor. The tumor had no connection to other intra-abdominal organs including bilateral normal ovaries. Grossly, it was a well encapsulated, unilocular cyst containing mucous material.

An intra-operative "passive gliding" maneuver was performed to identify the extensor pollicis brevis tendon during surgical decompression for de Quervain's disease in 40 involved wrists. All the patients were relieved of their symptoms and no recurrence occurred after one year of follow-up. By performing this intra-operative maneuver surgeons can prevent incomplete decompression in de Quervain's disease, regardless of the anatomical variation of the first extensor compartment.

Arteriovenous fistulae cause haemodynamic and morphological changes to the local venous channels. We have used the concept of preformed arteriovenous fistulae to study the viability improvement of arterialised venous flaps. Five groups of flaps were created using the abdominal skin of the Wistar rat (n= 10 in each group) with a silastic sheet implanted underneath.
