Chordoma of the Clivus with Metastasis to Femur.

Chordomas are aggressive and invasive tumors that are notoriously famous for their recurrence and metastasis. They present with diverse manifestations, usually with lower cranial nerve involvement. Here, we present the first reported case of chondroid chordoma with femur metastasis.

Intradural versus Extradural Location of Paraclinoid Aneurysms: Preoperative Red Flag Markers.

Background: Exact preoperative confirmation of the distal dural ring and intradural location of a paraclinoid internal carotid aneurysm has been an age old dilemma. This study was aimed at identifying anatomical landmarks in cases of paraclinoid aneurysms, which were relatively consistent, and would help in predicting the possibility of an extradural inaccessible location of these aneurysms for surgical clipping.

Methods: Ninety surgically managed unruptured paraclinoid aneurysms were retrospectively analyzed with preoperative computerized tomography.

Hearing Outcomes after Microvascular Decompression for Hemifacial Spasm: An Institutional Experience.

Introduction: Hearing loss following microvascular decompression (MVD) for hemifacial spasm is one of the most dreaded complications. Several factors such as stretching of VIII cranial nerve, vasospasm of labyrinthine artery, and acoustic trauma due to drill noise may be considered in its causation. We evaluated the incidence and severity of hearing loss following MVD in hemifacial spasm and the factors which might be responsible for this complication.

Surgical Approaches to Basilar Apex Aneurysms: An Illustrative Review.

Surgical management of basilar apex aneurysms remains one of the most challenging areas in neurovascular surgery. Technical demands of treating these aneurysms have inspired several generations of neurosurgeons to push the limitations of technical achievement. Advances in neuroanesthesia, cerebral protection paradigms, and critical care management have enhanced surgical outcomes of these lesions.

Outcome Analysis of Surgical Clipping for Incidental Internal Carotid Posterior Communicating and Anterior Choroidal Artery Aneurysms.

Introduction: Surgical outcome and ischemic complications of Internal carotid Posterior Communicating (IC PC) and anterior choroidal aneurysms have been questionable due to frequent occlusion of the anterior choroid artery and also due to low incidence of true anterior choroid artery aneurysms. The present series describes the postoperative outcome after clipping of such aneurysms at a single centre.

Methods: A retrospective analysis of 73 cases with IC PC and Anterior choroidal aneurysms performed at a Fujita Health University, Banbuntane Hotokukai Hospital, Nagoya, Aichi, Japan from 2014 to 2018 have been studied and emphasis is made on the demography and ischemic complications.
