Objective: Estimating which patients might require surgical intervention is crucial. Patients with complete bowel obstructions exhibit disrupted enterohepatic cycles of bile and bacteremia due to bacterial translocation. The goal of this study was to develop a prediction index using laboratory inflammatory data to identify patients who may need surgery.

Background: This study aimed to investigate whether Passiflora Incarnata (PI) has a protective effect against ischemia-reperfu-sion (IR)-induced oxidative and inflammatory ovarian damage.
Methods: The effects of PI on ovarian ischemia-reperfusion injury were investigated in female Wistar albino rats. The animals were randomly divided into three groups: Group 1 (sham), Group 2 (IR), and Group 3 (IR+PI).

Objective: In this study, we present our extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) outcomes in urolithiasis patients under the age of two.
Materials And Methods: The procedure was performed with patients < 2 years of age sedated, under anesthesia using ketamine and Dormicum (midazolam), in the supine position. Fragmentation was evaluated by fluoroscopy after the procedure.

Objective: Mitochondrial open reading frame of the 12s ribosomal RNA type-c (MOTS-c) is a novel identified mitochondrial signal transmission peptide that plays an important role in glucose, amino acid and lipid metabolism. In this study, we aimed to investigate the relationship of circulating MOTS-c level with noninvasive scores of fibrosis and the components of metabolic syndrome (MetS) in patients with metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD).
Patients And Methods: This was a single-center cross-sectional study, and the participants were divided into two groups based on their liver ultrasound results: the fatty liver group and the healthy control group.

We aimed to investigate the ability of the C-reactive protein-to-albumin ratio (CAR) to predict ascending aorta progression in patients with 40-50 mm diameter of ascending aortic dilatation. A total of 182 diagnosed patients with ascending aortic diameters of 40-50 mm were enrolled in this study. The study population was divided into tertiles based on yearly ascending aortic growth rate values.

Objectives: It has been shown that the dysregulation of tyrosine kinase Axl receptor and its ligand growth arrest-specific gene (Gas6) are associated with poor prognosis in various types of tumors but there is not enough study about their importance in bladder cancer (BC). We evaluated the relation of Gas6 gene expression and tyrosine- kinase Axl and Sky (Tyro 3) receptors with tumor stage and grade in patients with BC.
Material And Methods: The study group consists of 55 patients whose transurethral resection of bladder (TUR-B) has been performed due to BC and the control group consists of 12 patients with normal bladder mucosa.

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is strongly associated to the features of metabolic syndrome which can progress to cirrhosis, liver failure and hepatocellular carcinoma. However, the most common cause of mortality in people with NAFLD is not liver-related but stems from atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (CVD). The prevalence of NAFLD is on the rise, mainly as a consequence of its close association with two major worldwide epidemics, obesity and type 2 diabetes (T2D).

Objective: We aimed to investigate both the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) admission, and demographic, angiographic, procedural characteristics, and in-hospital clinical outcomes of patients with COVID-19 positive STEMI in Turkey.
Methods: This was a multi-center and cross-sectional observational study. The study population included 1788 STEMI patients from 15 centers in Turkey.

Background: Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is among the most common causes of chronic liver disease and cirrhosis. In NAFLD, histological course of steatosis is usually macrovesicular (MacroS), but it may be accompanied by varying degrees of microvesicular steatosis (MicroS). Thus, in this study, we aimed to evaluate the prevalence and significance of MicroS in subjects with NAFLD.

Background: Transient ischemic attack (TIA) is a common neurovascular disorder associated with a higher risk of stroke within the first 24 h after the first event. Acute cerebral and arterial neuroimaging combined with long-term electrocardiography (ECG) monitoring have been proven to be useful in determining etiology. Cardio-embolism constitutes 20%-26% etiology of TIAs most of them with atrial fibrillation (AF).

Introduction: In testicular torsion, testicular blood flow is impaired, resulting in ischemic changes. Torsion must be corrected urgently with surgical treatment. Detorsioning and restoration of blood supply to the testis cause reperfusion injury.

Erector spina plane (ESP) block and mid-transverse to pleura plane (MTP) block are the latest techniques in this area. The aim of this prospective and randomized study was to compare the postoperative analgesic efficacy of bilateral ESP and MTP blocks in patients undergoing lumbar spinal surgery under general anesthesia (GA).

Carotid artery stenosis (CAS), mainly caused by carotid atherosclerosis, is related to ischemic stroke. We investigated whether C-reactive protein (CRP) to albumin ratio (CAR) was associated with increased severity of carotid stenosis in patients undergoing carotid angiography. A total of 269 patients who were undergoing carotid angiography were included in this study.

Background: The use of a tourniquet and patients' preference for general anesthesia (GA) limit performing ankle blocks (AB) as a sole anesthetic technique for orthopedic foot surgery. The aim of this prospective and randomized study was to test the hypothesis that administration of an AB before GA could be effective for postoperative pain relief in patients undergoing outpatient hallux valgus surgery. Primary outcome measure was mean pain score and secondary outcome measures were time to mobilization of patients, time to hospital discharge, and complications.

The aim of this study was to investigate the prognostic value of soluble ST2 (sST2) in predicting postoperative adverse events in patients with impaired left ventricular (LV) function undergoing coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery. This study included 80 consecutive patients with stable coronary artery disease (CAD) and impaired LV function (ejection fraction ≤ 45%) undergoing on-pump coronary artery bypass graft surgery. The patients were divided into the "high" or "low" group according to their ST2 levels (≥35 or <35 ng/mL).

Purpose: This study was performed to compare the use of a bilateral gluteus maximus advancing flap (BGMAF) following oblique incision, which was recently described for the surgical treatment of sacrococcygeal pilonidal sinus (SPS) disease, with the widely used Limberg flap (LF) technique following a rhomboid incision.
Methods: A total of 105 patients treated for SPS were evaluated retrospectively. The patients were evaluated in terms of their age, body mass index, symptoms, length of the operation, complications, postoperative hospital stay, time to return to work, postoperative cosmetic satisfaction and recurrence rate.

Purpose: The use of an S-type oblique excision with a bilateral gluteus maximus advancement flap has recently been described for the surgical treatment of sacrococcygeal pilonidal sinus (SPS). Its use in wide lesions has been limited due to the need for a full-thickness flap. We describe the use of an S-type oblique incision together with the Dufourmentel flap in wide lesions.
