Objectives: This study evaluated the impact of different doses of gabapentin and pregabalin on fracture healing in a rat femoral shaft model, with histological, radiological, and biomechanical assessments.

Materials And Methods: Seventy male Wistar albino rats were divided into five groups: control, low-dose gabapentin (GBP-L, 300 mg/day), high-dose gabapentin (GBP-H, 3600 mg/day), low-dose pregabalin (PRG-L, 150 mg/day), and high-dose pregabalin (PRG-H, 600 mg/day), based on human equivalent doses. Bilateral femoral fractures were induced; the right femurs were prepared for radiological examination using microtomography, followed by histological analysis, whereas the left femurs were allocated for biomechanical testing.

Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 279 patients with ureteral stones sized 4-10 mm that were managed conservatively. The patients were divided into two groups: Group 1 consisted of 137 patients who passed the stone spontaneously; Group 2 comprised 142 patients without spontaneous stone passage.

Unilateral Phthiriasis Palpebrarum: A Case Study.

Phthiriasis palpebrarum is a rare eyelid infestation caused by (pubic lice) that is often confused with other causes of blepharoconjunctivitis. In this study, we report the case of a 49-year-old male patient with phthiriasis palpebrarum who presented with itching and eye irritation in the left eye and had undergone treatment for conjunctivitis in the past month. Biomicroscopic examination revealed a dense population of motile and translucent lice and eggs, more intensely on the upper lid.

Rice, wheat, and potato starches were investigated using ultra-small angle X-Ray diffraction (USXRD) in the range of 100-58,000 A. The results showed trends consistent with the known sizes of starches. However, the observed Rg values for the scattering substances lie in the 100-300 nm range, very much in the low end of the known starch granule size distributions (and below the resolution of the light microscope) suggesting different, perhaps interesting, structures than those observed by light microscopy.

The Arabidopsis thaliana At2g01170 gene is annotated as a putative gamma amino butyric acid (GABA) permease based on its sequence similarity to a yeast GABA transporting gene (UGA4). A cDNA of At2g01170 was expressed in yeast and analyzed for amino acid transport activity. Both direct measurement of amino acid transport and yeast growth experiments demonstrated that the At2g01170 encoded-protein exhibits transport activity for alanine, arginine, glutamate and lysine, but not for GABA or proline.
