Prognostic Nutritional Index as a Predictor of No-Reflow Occurrence in Patients With ST-Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction Who Underwent Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention.

Nutritional status and its index (Prognostic Nutritional Index, PNI) is an important prognostic factor for ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). The present study investigated whether PNI it is associated with no-reflow in patients with STEMI. In this retrospective study, 404 patients with STEMI and underwent primary percutaneous coronary intervention (pPCI) were consecutively included, between January 2016 and December 2018.

Zonulin as a potential biomarker for diminished ovarian reserve: A prospective study.

Objective: The purpose of this research is to investigate the relationship between zonulin levels and diminished ovarian reserve (DOR), and to evaluate the potential role of autoimmunity in the development of DOR. The study contributes to the understanding of the pathogenesis of DOR, which can be an unexpected diagnosis often associated with infertility and unpleasant physical symptoms in women.

Social Cognition in Opioid Use Disorder.

Opioid use disorder (OUD) is associated with significant functional impairment and neurocognitive dysfunction, but only a handful of studies have investigated social cognitive abilities in this condition. This study aimed to investigate facial emotion recognition accuracy/biases and two different aspects of theory of mind (ToM) (ToM-decoding vs ToM-reasoning) in people with recovered OUD. The participants included 32 people with recovered OUD who were on Buprenorphine + Naloxone (B/N) maintenance treatment and 32 healthy controls.

Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate serum afamin levels in the first and third trimesters in preeclampsia.

Methods: Serum samples from 118 patients in the first and third trimesters were analyzed. Serum samples were collected from pregnant women who had enrolled in the first trimester.

Predictive and Prognostic Value of Plasma Zonulin for Gestational Diabetes Mellitus in Women at 24-28 Weeks of Gestation.

Objective: We aimed to examine the predictive and prognostic value of plasma zonulin for gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) in women at 24-28 weeks of gestation.

Methods: This retrospective study was carried out with pregnant women with GDM (n=98) and normal glucose tolerance (control group) (n=132). GDM was diagnosed according to American Diabetes Association (ADA) criteria with a one-step 75-g OGTT at 24-28 gestational weeks.

Natural Course of Optic Disc Pit Maculopathy: An Optical Coherence Tomography Study.

Mechanical Analyses of Quadriceps Tendon Graft with Five Different Fixation Techniques on the Femoral Side: an Experimental Study on Sheep Knees.

PURPOSE OF THE STUDY We aimed to evaluate the biomechanical properties of quadriceps tendon graft with a bone plug ending (QTBP) and a quadriceps graft with a tendinous ending(QTT) fixed on the femoral side with different fixation devices. MATERIAL AND METHODS Twenty-five paired 2-year-old calf QTs and 25 paired 2-year-old sheep femurs were used for this study. 90x8 mm central part of the quadriceps tendons with or without a bone plug was harvested.

Prediction of gestational diabetes mellitus and perinatal outcomes by plasma zonulin levels.

Purpose: Zonulin has been shown to be associated with many metabolic disorders, including type 2 diabetes mellitus, metabolic syndrome, and obesity. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the association between maternal plasma zonulin levels and gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) and its perinatal outcomes.

Materials: A total of 100 pregnant women, 56 with GDM and 44 controls, were included in this prospective case-control study.

Role of Vitamin B12 and Vitamin D levels in intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy and correlation with total bile acid.

This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy (ICP) and Vitamin D and B12 levels. The study was a retrospective, cross-sectional, case-control study that evaluated 92 ICP cases and 102 pregnant women without any additional disease. ICP cases were grouped as mild and severe according to their total bile acid (TBA) levels, and their relationship with Vitamin D and B12 levels and perinatal outcomes was evaluated.

ERS International Virtual Congress 2021: Highlights from the Turkish Thoracic Society Early Career Members.

This review aimed to highlight some important points derived from the presentations of the European Respiratory Society 2021 Virtual International Congress by a committee formed by the Early Career Task Group of the Turkish Thoracic Society. We summarized a wide range of topics including current developments of respiratory diseases and provided an overview of important and striking topics of the congress. Our primary motivation was to give some up-to-date information and new developments discussed during congress especially for the pulmonologists who did not have a chance to follow the congress.

Predictors of Caregiver Burden in Family Caregivers of Male Patients with Opioid Use Disorders.

Background: We aimed to determine the factors that correlate and best predict caregiver burden in family caregivers of male patients with opioid use disorders, specifically with heroin use.

Methods: A total of 100 patients with opioid use disorders and their primary caregivers (n = 100) were included in the study. Both patients and caregivers completed sociodemographic data collection forms.

Comparison of Martin and Friedewald equation for estimated LDL-C in adults.

Objective: In this study, we aimed to compare the directly measured low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), Friedewald, and a new Martin LDL-C formula in the Turkish adult population.

Methods: A total of 1,558 patients between the ages of 18 and 65 years with a triglyceride level of <400 mg/dL were included in this study. Serum lipid profiles of all the patients were measured with Cobas 6000 c501 (Roche Diagnostic), and LDL-C concentrations were measured by a homogeneous direct method using reagents.

Aim: We aimed to investigate the value of follicular fluid fetuins-A and -B to predict successful IVF and pregnancy outcomes in infertile women with poor, normal, and high ovarian reserve.

Methods: The follicular fluid of 96 infertile women who underwent intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) procedure was analyzed. Fetuins-A and -B levels were examined and compared in those who could achieve pregnancy and those who could not.

Evaluation of psychosocial functioning in the acute treatment term of major depressive disorder: A 16-week multi-centered follow-up study.

Objective: Major depressive disorder is the leading cause of non-fatal burden, and disability in adulthood. Even though depression is well-treated in the acute term,psychosocial functioning does not get back to the premorbid level most of the time. In this present study, it is aimed to evaluate the outcome of the acute term treatment of major depressive disorder in terms of psychosocial functioning.

Can the Cell-free DNA Test Predict Placenta Accreta Spectrum or Placenta Previa Totalis?

Background: Following the discovery that fetal DNA originates from the trophoblastic cells of the placenta, the contribution of the cell-free DNA test in placenta-related obstetric complications has begun to be investigated. Compared to uncomplicated pregnancies, higher fetal fractions were detected in placenta accreta spectrum and placenta previa, which are among placenta-related obstetric complications. However, this data applies only to advanced gestational weeks.

Correlation of the Radiological Emphysema Score of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Patients with Clinic Parameters.

The Assessment of Cognitive Dysfunction in Major Depressive Disorder: A 16-Week Prospective Case-Control Study.

Objective: Cognitive dysfunction is one of the core components of major depressive disorder (MDD). It is estimated that two-thirds of patients diagnosed with MDD have cognitive deficits. Cognitive symptoms are pervasive and affect functioning in several domains.

The prevalence, management and outcomes of coronary artery perforations during percutaneous coronary intervention in patients with or without acute coronary syndromes.

Background: Coronary artery perforation (CAP) is an uncommon but serious complication of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). The aim of this study was to compare early and late clinical outcomes of CAP in patients with or without acute coronary syndromes (ACS).

Method: A retrospective review was made of the procedural records of 15 878 patients who underwent PCI at two large tertiary centers between January 2012 and December 2018.

Evaluation of transcutaneous carbon dioxide and saturation monitoring during fiberoptic bronchoscopy.

Introduction: The aim of the study was to assess the effects of interventions during bronchoscopy on ventilation and determine the risk factors for hypoventilation related to both interventions and patients' demographical and clinical characteristics.
