Although ictal hypoxemia is more common in generalized seizures, it also occurs in focal seizures with or without generalization. In this study, we aimed to show the relationship between clinical and electroencephalographic findings of seizures in patients with temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) with periictal oxygen saturation.

Evaluation of maternal serum progesterone-induced blocking factor levels in pregnancies complicated with early- and late-onset preeclampsia.

The aim of present study was to evaluate maternal serum progesterone-induced blocking factor (PIBF) levels in pregnancies complicated with early-onset (EO-PE) and late-onset (LO-PE) preeclampsia. Patients with preeclampsia were divided in two groups according to preeclampsia onset and compared to healthy control group: EO-PE and LO-PE defined as being diagnosed before 340/7 and ≥340/7 weeks, respectively. Maternal age, nulliparity, BMI at blood sampling, smoking, history of caesarean section and ethnicity were statistically similar among the groups.

First-trimester maternal serum betatrophin levels are decreased in pregnancies complicated by gestational diabetes mellitus.

Introduction: The purpose of the present study was to compare maternal serum betatrophin levels during the first trimester from healthy pregnancies to those complicated by gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM).

Methods: In this prospective study, 320 pregnant women were evaluated in their first trimester, and 145 pregnant women who met the inclusion criteria were divided into the following two groups according to GDM screening results: GDM (n:20) and non-diabetic healthy control (n: 125). Samples of maternal serum fasting insulin, fasting blood glucose, hemoglobin (HB)A1c, and betatrophin levels obtained from the women's blood samples between 11 -13 gestational weeks during first trimester nuchal translucency screening.

Evaluation of knowledge, attitude, and behaviour of ophthalmologists about adenoviral conjunctivitis transmission and treatment : An online survey for Turkish ophthalmologists.

Purpose: To determine the prevalence of adenoviral conjunctivitis in Turkish ophthalmologists, to provide an overview of the treatment and prophylaxis of adenoviral conjunctivitis, and to analyze the data in the context of evidence-based treatment recommendations.

Methods: An online questionnaire consisting of 20 multiple-choice questions about the characteristics of the respondents, the individual adenoviral conjunctivitis history of the ophthalmologists, their practice's approaches, and prescription preferences were emailed to Turkish ophthalmologists.

Results: The survey was emailed to 500 ophthalmologists; 45% of them returned the questionnaire.

Design: An observational before-and-after COVID-19 study at an academic medical centre. A total of 132 young women aged 18-40 were enrolled; they were tested for reproductive function in the early follicular phase, and their information was obtained from hospital data between January 2019 and June 2021. Method: Data were collected using an eye-tracking during a class-flow task conducted with 60 children (ADHD and control groups). Two areas of interest were determined in the task, these are relevant (teacher and whiteboard) and irrelevant (any regions outside the relevant area) areas.

Background: Oxidative stress occurs as a result of the disruption of the balance between the formations of reactive oxygen species and antioxidant defense mechanisms during the conversion of nutrients into energy. Increased body oxidative stress has been reported to be involved in the etiology of several degenerative and chronic diseases. We hypothesized that the body oxidative stress level is higher in patients with atraumatic degenerative rotator cuff tear than that in healthy individuals.

Serum Tumor Necrosis Factor-Like Weak Inducer of Apoptosis (TWEAK) Levels Are Decreased in Children with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder.

Introduction: There has been no study in the literature evaluating serum tumor necrosis factor-like weak inducer of apoptosis (TWEAK) levels in attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Therefore, we performed the present study to specifically measure serum TWEAK levels to see whether or not its eventual alterations might have an etiopathogenetic significance in children with ADHD.
