Background/aims: Endoscopic ultrasonography-guided gastrojejunostomy is a minimally invasive method for the management of gastric outlet obstruction. Conventionally, a lumen-apposing metal stent (LAMS) is used to create an anastomosis. However, LAMS is expensive and not widely available.

Hair tourniquet syndrome of toe.

Introduction: Hair tourniquet syndrome (HTS) is a rare surgical emergency caused by a hair or thread wrapping around an appendage. We aimed to present our clinical experience with HTS of toes and attract physicians' attention to this rare entity.

Methods: Between January 2012 and September 2022; 26 patients (25 pediatric and one adult case) were treated for HTS.

Magnetic chitosan oligomer-sulfonate-stearic acid triple combination as cisplatin carrier for site-specific targeted on MCF-7 cancer cells: Preparation, characterization and in vitro experiments.

In this study, a new amphiphilic target-specific adsorbent, chitosan oligomer-sulfonate-stearic acid triple combination (S-Cho-SA), and magnetic chitosan oligomer-sulfonate-stearic acid triple combination (M-S-Cho-SA) by oleic acid (OA)-modified Fe O via hydrophobic interaction are fabricated. By modifying the nanoparticle surfaces and having the ability to magnetically allow the target region, these particles attract attention as important particles used in targeting mechanisms in cancer therapy. With magnetic nanoparticles and an external magnetic field, it is possible to transport therapeutic agents to the target site and keep them in the desired effect zone for a longer period of time.

The Effect of Precolonoscopy Lavender Inhalation on Patient Anxiety and Comfort: A Randomized, Controlled, Double-Blinded, Single-Center Study.

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of lavender oil inhalation on the anxiety and comfort levels of patients scheduled for colonoscopy. Seventy-three experimental group patients scheduled for colonoscopy at a training and research hospital in the west of Turkey in June to September 2022 and 72 control group patients were included in this randomized, controlled, prospective study. Minimal sedation (propofol 2-3 mg/kg) was applied in both groups.

Pros and cons of rib unfolding software: a reliability and reproducibility study on trauma patients.

Background: Examination of all 24 ribs on axial computed tomography (CT) slices might become a leeway and rib fractures (RF) may easily overlook in daily practice. Rib unfolding (RU), a computer-assisted software, that promises rapid assessment of the ribs in a two-dimensional plan, was developed to facilitate rib evaluation. We aimed to evaluate the reliability and reproducibility of RU software for RF detection on CT and to determine the accelerating effect to determine any drawback of RU application.

Neo-glans reconstruction with dartos flaps covered with buccal mucosal graft after total glans amputation during circumcision: novel technique.

Penile glans amputation is a rare and catastrophic complication of circumcision. Reconstruction of the penile glans was indicated following amputation. Our report discusses a novel technique for reconfiguration of the amputated penile glans of a 5-year-old male admitted 6 months following a complicated circumcision.

Introduction: To describe the clinical and refractive outcomes of Yamane transconjunctival sutureless intrascleral intraocular lens (SIS IOL) fixation technique in aphakic and dislocated IOLs.

Methods: The aphakic and IOL dispositioned patients who underwent Yamane surgery in Bozyaka Research and Training Hospital were evaluated retrospectively. The demographic data, preoperative & postoperative best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA), spherical equivalent (SE), indication for surgery, additional surgical interventions, complications, the final status of retina, and central macular thickness (CMT) through spectral-domain optic coherence tomography (SD-OCT) were recorded.

Cardioneuroablation for treatment of carotid sinus syndrome secondary to oropharyngeal squamous cell cancer.

Head and neck tumors can rarely cause carotid sinus syndrome and this often resolves by surgical intervention or palliative chemoradiotherapy. If these modalities are not an option or are ineffective, the most preferred treatment is permanent pacemaker therapy. Here, we present the first case of cardioneuroablation treatment performed in patient with oropharyngeal squamous cell cancer who developed recurrent asystole and syncope attacks due to compression of the carotid sinus on neck movement.

We evaluated the differences in demographic characteristics of patients with and without underlying crossing renal vessels (CRVs) operated for unilateral symptomatic ureteropelvic junction obstruction (UPJO). We identified the features of patients who had undergone open, laparoscopic and robotically assisted laparoscopic pyeloplasty at our institution from July 2000 to January 2021. The ratio of renal parenchymal thickness (RPT; ratio between the kidney with UPJO and the healthy kidney), pelvic diameter and kidney functions were recorded.

Traumas are the most important cause of mortality in the pediatric population. Bleeding is an important complication, especially in traumatic brain injuries with coagulation problem addition. Low-velocity penetrating brain injuries may be caused by sewing needles, nails, and knives.

Comparison of ultrasound-guided quadratus lumborum block-2 and quadratus lumborum block-3 for postoperative pain in cesarean section: A randomized clinical trial.

Introduction: The aim of this study was to compare the postoperative analgesic effects of ultrasound-guided quadratus lumborum block-2 (QLB-2) and quadratus lumborum block-3 (QLB-3) after cesarean section (C/S) under general anesthesia.

Method: This was a prospective, randomized, double-blind study. A total of 143 term pregnant women with American Society of Anesthesiologists II status, who were scheduled for elective C/S under general anesthesia were randomly separated into QLB-2 and QLB-3 groups.

The relationship between executive functions and chronotype in healthy siblings of children with autism spectrum disorder.

The aim of this study is to examine executive functions in healthy siblings of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and to evaluate the relationship between chronotype and executive functions (EF). This study included 40 healthy siblings (case group) of children with ASD and 40 healthy controls. Executive functions were evaluated by Stroop Test, Serial Digit Learning Test (SDLT) and Cancellation Test (CT).

Relationship between Fasting Times and Emergence Delirium in Children Undergoing Magnetic Resonance Imaging under Sedation.

Background and Objectives: This study aimed to determine whether there is a relationship between preoperative fasting time, fasting blood glucose (FBG), and postoperative emergence delirium (ED) in pediatric patients undergoing MRI under sedation. Materials and Methods: 110 pediatric patients were included in the study. Preoperative fasting (solid-fluid) time and FBG were recorded.

Lateral Suspension Technique in Treatment of Lateral Crus Malposition Belada Technique.

Clinical decision-making style preferences of European psychiatrists: Results from the Ambassadors survey in 38 countries.

Background: While shared clinical decision-making (SDM) is the preferred approach to decision-making in mental health care, its implementation in everyday clinical practice is still insufficient. The European Psychiatric Association undertook a study aiming to gather data on the clinical decision-making style preferences of psychiatrists working in Europe.

Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional online survey involving a sample of 751 psychiatrists and psychiatry specialist trainees from 38 European countries in 2021, using the Clinical Decision-Making Style - Staff questionnaire and a set of questions regarding clinicians' expertise, training, and practice.
