Despite the widespread use of mini-invasive treatment methods in cardiac surgery, their use in post-infarction myocardial aneurysms of the left ventricle is not of frequent occurrence. In this clinical case, we used left anterolateral thoracotomy and "eating heart" technique to correct the post-infarction left ventricle aneurysm with ventricular thrombosis using the Dor method in a 66-year-old patient. This technique created opportunity to perform safely and effective the planned reconstruction of the left ventricle with less trauma, as well as to ease the postoperative course and recovery of the patient, reduce hospitalization time.

The patterns of formation of chitosan nanoparticles doped with vancomycin and coatings based on them in carbonate solutions have been investigated for the first time in this study. Using a technique of radioactive indicators, it was found that at a CO pressure of 30 MPa, the yield of the nanoparticles was ∼85 %, and a maximum antibiotic encapsulation efficiency of ∼30 % was achieved. By spectrophotometric and high-resolution microscopy, it was found that the coating of stabilized xenopericardial tissue of bioprosthetic heart valve, based on chitosan nanoparticles doped with vancomycin with a zeta potential |ζ| ∼20 mV completely covers collagen fibers by depositing about 60 nm nanoparticles onto them under direct deposition from carbonic acid at a pressure of 30 MPa CO.

Coatings with xenogenic materials, made of detonation nanodiamonds, provide additional strength and increase elasticity. A functionally developed surface of nanodiamonds makes it possible to apply antibiotics. Previous experiments show the stability of such coatings; however, studies on stability in the bloodstream and calcification of the material in natural conditions have yet to be conducted.

The tightly bonded shielding coating on biomatrix significantly enhances the functionality of medical devices, bioprostheses in particular. In our work we have obtained a polyelectrolyte coating on a biomatrix by sequentially depositing chitosan and hyaluronic acid (HA) from solutions in carbonic acid under pressure. This approach makes it possible to obtain hybrid biomatrix with a firmly bonded polymer screen due to the electrostatic bonding of polyions.

Angiotensin I-converting enzyme (ACE) is a peptidase widely presented in human tissues and biological fluids. ACE is a glycoprotein containing 17 potential N-glycosylation sites which can be glycosylated in different ways due to post-translational modification of the protein in different cells. For the first time, surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectra of human ACE from lungs, mainly produced by endothelial cells, ACE from heart, produced by endothelial heart cells and miofibroblasts, and ACE from seminal fluid, produced by epithelial cells, have been compared with full assignment.

A mathematical model is proposed for the autonomic control of cardiovascular system, which takes into account two separated self-exciting sympathetic control loops of heart rate and peripheral vascular tone. The control loops are represented by self-exciting time-delay systems and their tone depends on activity of the aortic, carotid, and lower-body baroreceptors. The model is used to study the dynamics of the adaptive processes that manifest in a healthy cardiovascular system during the passive head-up tilt test.

Chitosan coatings of biological heart-valve prostheses enhance their biocompatibility, resistance to pathogenic microflora and lifetime. Collagen tissues can be coated with chitosan in aqueous solution acidified, to make chitosan soluble, with HCO formed from a coexisting liquid CO phase under pressure. The advantage of HCO is that it can be easily removed after the coating procedure.

Analysis of the data of morphometry of aortic casts, aortography at different pressures, and multispiral computer tomography of the aorta with contrast and normal pulse pressure showed that geometric configuration of the flow channel of the aorta during the whole cardiac cycle corresponded to the conditions of self-organization of tornado-like quasipotential flow described by exact solutions of the Navier-Stokes equation and continuity of viscous fluid typical for this type of fluid flows. Increasing pressure in the aorta leads to a decrease in the degree of approximation of the channel geometry to the ratio of exact solution and increases the risk of distortions in the structure of the flow. A mechanism of evolution of tornado-like flow in the aorta was proposed.

In this article, we study the stability of chitosan coatings applied on glutaraldehyde-stabilized bovine pericardium when exposed to biodegradation in vivo in the course of model subcutaneous tests on rats. The coatings were deposited from carbonic acid solutions, that is, H O saturated with CO at high pressure. Histological sections of treated pericardium samples demonstrated that the structure of pericardial connective tissues was not significantly altered by the coating application method.

A mixture of water/carbon dioxide is a "green" perspective solvent from the viewpoint of biomedical applications. Clathrate hydrates are formed this solvent under certain conditions and a very interesting question is the impact of clathrates hydrates on the structure and properties of bovine pericardium, which is used in biomedicine, in particular as a main part of biological heart valve prostheses. The aim of the present work is to investigate the influence of clathrates on the structure and mechanical properties of the collagen tissue treated with chitosan in HO/CO mixtures under pressure 3.

We compare the spectral indices of photoplethysmogram variability (PPGV) estimated using photoplethysmograms recorded from the earlobe and the middle fingers of the right and left hand and analyze their correlation with similar indices of heart rate variability (HRV) in 30 healthy subjects (26 men) aged 27 (25, 29) years (median with inter-quartile ranges) at rest and under the head-up tilt test. The following spectral indices of PPGV and HRV were compared: mean heart rate (HR), total spectral power (TP), high-frequency (HF) and low-frequency (LF) ranges of TP in percents (HF% and LF%), LF/HF ratio, and spectral coherence. We assess also the index S of synchronization between the LF oscillations in HRV and PPGV.

A model of human cardiovascular system is proposed which describes the main heart rhythm, the regulation of heart function and blood vessels by the autonomic nervous system, baroreflex, and the formation of arterial blood pressure. The model takes into account the impact of respiration on these processes. It is shown that taking into account nonlinearity and introducing the autonomous loop of mean arterial blood pressure in the form of self-oscillating time-delay system allow to obtain the model signals whose statistical and spectral characteristics are qualitatively and quantitatively similar to those for experimental signals.
