Background: Accurate prediction of short-term mortality in patients with acute pulmonary embolism (PE) is critical for optimizing treatment strategies and improving patient outcomes. The Pulmonary Embolism Severity Index (PESI) is the current reference score used for this purpose, but it has limitations regarding predictive accuracy. Our aim was to develop a new short-term mortality prediction model for PE patients based on deep learning (DL) with multimodal data, including imaging and clinical/demographic data.

The study was designed to assess the occurrence of high-riding vertebral artery (HRVA), narrow C2 pedicles (NC2P) and ponticulus posticus (PP), which pose risks of injuring vertebral artery (VA) during screw placement in cervical fixation procedures.

Methods: The study examined the prevalence of HRVA, NC2P and PP in 382 pedicle sides of the C2 vertebra using computed tomographic angiography scans.

Methods And Results: The population of this descriptive cross-sectional study consisted of all patients who underwent ICD implantation in university hospital (N = 200), and the sample consisted of patients who met the inclusion criteria of the study (n = 132).
