Article Synopsis
  • Non-invasive diagnosis of meniscal tears is challenging, with MRI being costly and often revealing incidental findings; many simple physical exams exist as alternatives.
  • The study aimed to assess the diagnostic accuracy of the Thessaly test and its potential to reduce reliance on MRI or arthroscopy for suspected meniscal tears.
  • Results showed the Thessaly test had moderate sensitivity (66%) and low specificity (39%) by primary care clinicians, indicating it may not reliably diagnose meniscal tears on its own, although other physical tests had similar accuracy rates.

Nisoldipine coat core (CC) is a long-acting formulation of the dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker nisoldipine, suitable for once-daily administration in the treatment of patients with hypertension. Data are reported from three randomized, controlled trials. In two of these, nisoldipine CC was shown to be equivalent in efficacy and tolerability to atenolol in patients with mild to moderate hypertension and to enalapril in elderly patients with hypertension.
