A cross-sectional study to correlate nasal profile and chin position with cephalometric lip profile.

Objective: To determine the effect of the nose and chin on the cephalometric lip profile.
Methods And Material: The pre-treatment lateral cephalograms of 177 adult patients with no history of orthodontic treatment were manually traced. The sample size was divided into three vertical and horizontal groups using angle ANB and MMA to assess the difference in nose and chin forms.

- An umbrella review of existing systematic reviews found IV diltiazem was more effective than IV metoprolol for controlling heart rate and reducing ventricular rates in patients experiencing AF with RVR.
- However, the use of IV diltiazem was also associated with a higher risk of hypotension, indicating the need for further research to evaluate the balance between efficacy and safety for these treatments.

Objective: To compare visual outcomes after cataract surgery using three intraocular lenses (IOL) of different prices but similar properties.
Methods: A comparative study with retrospective data of patients operated for phacoemulsification with monofocal IOL implants was carried out at Al-Ibrahim Eye Hospital (AIEH) from April 2021 to Feb 2022. Patients with diabetes, any preoperative ocular morbidity and unclear diagnosis were excluded from the study.

- Erythropoietin (EPO) is being studied as a potential treatment for newborns with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE), showing mixed results regarding its safety and effectiveness.
- A meta-analysis of seven studies involving 903 infants found that EPO did not significantly decrease the risk of death, neurodisability, or cerebral palsy in these patients.
- The findings suggest that EPO may not be an effective treatment for neonatal encephalopathy, highlighting the need for further large-scale randomized controlled trials to confirm these results.

Objective: To determine gender-based morphological variations in malleus.
Methods: The cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted at the Ear-Nose-Throat and Radiology departments of a public-sector hospital in Karachi, from January 20 to July 23, 2021, and comprised subjects of either gender aged 10-51 years who had intact ear ossicles. They were divided into equal male and female groups.

Objective: To explore a disparity in anti-oxidants (SIRT1) and pro-oxidants (cortisol) levels as a plausible cause of unexplained infertility in females.
Methodology: It was a cross sectional study in which 342 females with unexplained infertility were recruited from ACIMC outpatient clinic: 135 infertile cases and 207 fertile controls. Biochemical estimation of serum cortisol and SIRT1 was performed using Enzyme Linked Immuno Sorbent Assay.
