Objectives: Essential hypertension is a common chronic condition that can exacerbate or complicate various neurological diseases that may necessitate neuroimaging. Given growing medical imaging costs and the need to understand relationships between population blood pressure control and neuroimaging utilization, we seek to quantify the relationship between maximum blood pressure recorded in a given year and same-year utilization of neuroimaging CT or MR in a large healthcare population.
Methods: A retrospective population-based cohort study was performed by extracting aggregate data from a multi-institutional dataset of patient encounters from 2016, 2018, and 2020 using an informatics platform (Cosmos) consisting of de-duplicated data from over 140 academic and non-academic health systems, comprising over 137 million unique patients.

To identify potential scaffolds to treat gastritis and oxidative stress, 2-aryl-1-naphtho[2,3-]imidazole derivatives (1-15) were synthesized. The synthesis was conveniently carried out by condensing 2,3-diaminonaphthalene with variously substituted aldehydes to yield 15 new 2-aryl-1-naphtho[2,3-]imidazole derivatives. Structures of all synthesized compounds were elucidated using MS and NMR spectroscopic techniques.

Objective: Alveolar osteitis is a painful complication that often arises after tooth extraction, presenting a significant clinical challenge. It is imperative to gain a comprehensive understanding of both its occurrence and the contributing factors to enhance the quality of dental care. The aim of this study was to assess the frequency and prevalence of alveolar osteitis among patients and compare these variables based on demographic characteristics (age and sex), the number of teeth extractions, operator experience, health status, and smoking habits in the target population.

There are 59 dental colleges in Pakistan out of which 17 are in the public sector and 42 in private. However, only a few use problem-based learning methods, though it is a popular strategy in dental education all around the world. This study aims to assess problem-based learning model in dental education and explore the barriers of its implementation in a private dental college of Karachi.

Introduction: Expression and certain SNPs of interferon lambda 3 and 4 (IFNL3 and 4) have been associated with variable outcomes in COVID-19 patients in different regions, suggesting population-specific differences in the disease outcome. This study examined the association of INFL3 and INFL4 SNPs (rs12979860 and rs368234815, respectively) and nasopharyngeal expression with COVID-19 disease severity in Pakistani patients.
Methods: For this study, 117 retrospectively collected nasopharyngeal swab samples were used from individuals with mild and severe COVID-19 disease.

This study aimed to prepare three imine derivatives (1, 2, and 3) via a condensation reaction of phenyl hydrazine, 2-hydrazino pyridine, and 4-methoxy aniline with 4-formyl pyridine. Electron impact mass spectrometry (EIMS), proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H-NMR), ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy were utilized for the characterization. The chemosensing properties of [4((2-phenyl hydrazono)methyl) pyridine] (1), [2-(2-(pyridin-4-ylmethylene)hydrazinyl) pyridine] (2), and [4-methoxy-N-yl methylene) aniline] (3) imino bases have been explored for the first time in aqueous media.

Impairment in ventricular relaxation and preserved left ventricular ejection fraction are the two main features of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) a difficult clinical condition. Therapeutic choices for HFpEF patients are still scarce despite its rising frequency and negative effects on morbidity and mortality, necessitating creative methods to enhance results. The increased thromboembolic risk seen in these individuals raises questions about the relevance of anticoagulation in the therapy of HFpEF.

In this work, four fluorinated α, β-unsaturated ketones named as 3-(3-bromophenyl)-1-(3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)prop-2-en-1-one (1), 3-(4-methoxyphenyl)-1-(3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl) prop-2-en-1-one (2), 3-(3-bromo-5-chloro-2-hydroxyphenyl)-1-(3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl) prop-2-en-1-one (3) and 3-(2-hydroxy-5-methylphenyl)-1-(3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)prop-2-en-1-one (4) were synthesized by Claisen-Schmidt reaction. The synthesized molecules were then characterized through ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy (UV-Vis), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), H-NMR, C-NMR, and mass spectrometry. The antioxidant potential, Urease inhibition, and interaction of compounds 1-4 with Salmon sperm DNA were experimentally explored and supported by molecular docking studies.
