Ethical consideration in programme evaluation for health professional education programmes.

Objectives: To explore the ethical considerations and measures of quality assurance during data-collection for programme evaluation in health professional education.

Methods: The qualitative case study was conducted at Bahria University of Health Sciences, Karachi, from August to November 2023, and comprised faculty members involved in programme evaluation for at least two years having done a minimum two audit cycles. System thinking philosophical framework was used during the data-collection phase.

Peritoneal dialysis (PD) is a well-established modality for kidney replacement therapy (KRT) globally, offering benefits such as better preservation of residual kidney function, improved quality of life, and reduced resource requirements. Despite these advantages, the global utilization of PD remains suboptimal, particularly in South Asia (SA), where a significant gap in PD delivery exists. This study aims to uncover the perceived barriers hindering PD utilization among nephrologists in SA.

The Cellular Genesis of Metabolic Syndrome and the Role of Anti-urate Drugs in Hyperuricemia Patients: A Systematic Review.

Hyperuricemia results due to the underexcretion of uric acid through kidneys or overproduction due to either intake of purine-rich foods, a high caloric diet, or a decreased activity of purine recycler hypoxanthine-guanine phosphoribosyl transferase (HGPRT). Increased xanthine oxidoreductase (XOR) enzyme activity may contribute to hyperuricemia. Literature provides growing evidence that an independent component that contributes to the development of metabolic syndrome (MetS) and associated comorbidities is hyperuricemia.

Letter to Editor: Cystic vestibular schwannoma - a subgroup analysis from a comparative study between radiosurgery and microsurgery.

This letter evaluates the recent study on the management of cystic vestibular schwannomas (VS) compared to solid VS, focusing on the clinical outcomes of surgery (SURGERY) and radiosurgery (SRS). The study offers significant insights into the differences between these tumor types, emphasizing the challenges posed by cystic VS, including rapid growth, enhanced peritumoral adhesion, and worse post-operative facial nerve outcomes. Notably, cystic VS are associated with higher recurrence rates and poorer preoperative status.

An Intelligent Mechanism to Detect Multi-Factor Skin Cancer.

Deep learning utilizing convolutional neural networks (CNNs) stands out among the state-of-the-art procedures in PC-supported medical findings. The method proposed in this paper consists of two key stages. In the first stage, the proposed deep sequential CNN model preprocesses images to isolate regions of interest from skin lesions and extracts features, capturing the relevant patterns and detecting multiple lesions.
