Background/aim: Although seasonal human coronaviruses (HCoVs) have long been recognized as respiratory tract viruses, the newly identified SARS-CoV-2 caused a pandemic associated with severe respiratory failure. We aimed to evaluate the incidence of COVID-19 infection in patients diagnosed in three tertiary teaching hospitals, both with and without prior confirmed HCoV infection, and to compare these cohorts in terms of COVID-19 contraction.
Materials And Methods: In our study, we examined HCoV PCR-positive cases obtained retrospectively between January 2014 and March 2020 from three University Hospital Microbiology Laboratories (Cohort 1), as well as PCR-negative patients detected in the same PCR cycle as the positive cases (Cohort 2).

Background Breast-conserving surgeries have significantly advanced breast cancer treatment, offering favorable oncological outcomes, enhanced cosmetic results, reduced postoperative morbidity, and better psychological acceptance compared to mastectomy. The introduction of neoadjuvant therapy has expanded the applicability of breast conservation surgery to include locally advanced tumors. Tumor response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy is evaluated using imaging modalities such as breast ultrasound, breast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT).

Introduction: Fanconi anemia (FA) is a genetic disorder characterized by bone marrow failure typically developing in the first decade of life, congenital abnormalities, and an increased predisposition to malignancy. However, patients with FA can remain undiagnosed until adulthood and present with solid organ malignancies. Due to impaired DNA repair mechanisms, patients with FA are highly susceptible to severe bone marrow toxicity when treated with cisplatin.

Carbapenem-resistant is a common cause of nosocomial meningitis, and it presents a challenge in terms of treatment because of limited therapeutic options. Intravenous tigecycline has been considered a potential salvage therapy against multi-drug-resistant . However, its effectiveness is limited by its poor ability to cross the blood-brain barrier.

One of the drugs that has been suggested for the treatment of SARS-CoV-2 infection is tenofovir disoproxil (TDF). Herein, it was aimed to evaluate the outcomes of TDF receiving COVID-19 cases in terms of day 7-10 PCR negativity and day 30 survival. Patients who received TDF due to PCR-confirmed COVID-19 between 27.

Herein, we aimed to describe the outcomes of patients with blood stream infections due to carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae (CR-Kp) who received ertapenem plus meropenem combination treatment (EMCT). A total of 53 patients with culture proven CR-Kp bacteremia treated with ertapenem + meropenem were included. The patients with secondary bacteremia due to urinary tract infection exhibited a significantly lower 1-month mortality (OMM), particularly in those with microbiological eradication and those with end-of-treatment success.

Background: The Gustave Roussy immune score (GRIm score) is a laboratory index developed to predict survival in nonsmall cell lung cancer patients undergoing immunotherapy and has shown that the pretreatment value is an independent prognostic factor for survival. In this study, we aimed to determine prognostic significance of GRIm score for pancreatic adenocarcinoma that have not been determined in the literature for pancreatic cancer before. The reason for choosing this scoring is to show that the immune scoring system works as a prognostic marker in pancreatic cancer known as immune-desert tumor via immune properties of microenvironment.
