Catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTIs) are the common hospital-associated infections (HAIs), which can be prevented by practicing necessary precautions and by using antimicrobial urinary catheters (UCs). The efficacy of antimicrobial UCs against standard catheters for averting CAUTIs is poorly studied. The objective of the review is to analyze the efficacy of various types of antimicrobial UCs used in hospitalized patients in preventing CAUTIs.

Introduction: Intussusception after one anastomosis gastric bypass is a rare postoperative complication that occurs with bowel obstruction. The diagnosis may be challenging because of long-standing, intermittent, nonspecific symptoms. Aim: The aim of this study is to describe the clinical characteristics of ambulatory patients with chronic heart failure (HF) in the Arabian Gulf and to examine several aspects including types of HF, causes, and adherence to management guidelines.
Methods: Gulf documentation of ambulatory sick patients with HF (Gulf DYSPNEA) registry is a multicenter, cross-sectional study, recruiting adult ambulatory HF patients from 24 hospitals in five Arabian Gulf countries. Consecutive patients are recruited prospectively from participating clinics with no follow-up data collection.

Background: Real-world evidence from published observational studies of adherence to Novel Oral Anticoagulants (NOACs) medications and associated clinical outcome events in Atrial Fibrillation (AF) patients, was reviewed systematically.
Methods: Observational studies assessing patient adherence to NOACs conducted on AF patients between September 2010 and June 2016 were identified by systematic searching keywords to locate eligible studies, in accordance with Cochrane guidelines. PubMed, Scopus and Google Scholar databases were searched to identify the studies.

The purpose of presenting this case is to report a fatal case of rhinocerebral mucormycosis post-dental extraction in a patient with uncontrolled diabetes mellitus. Several cases of rhinocerebral mucormycosis have been reported, but mucocutaneous mucormycosis has not been commonly reported to be a part of polymicrobial wound infections at multifocal sites. To the best of author's knowledge, this is the second case of polymicrobial rhinocerebral infection involving mucormycosis.

Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (MERS-CoV) is well known to cause severe respiratory infection and was first reported in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 2012. We report here the first confirmed MERS-CoV infection in the Kingdom of Bahrain in a Saudi gentleman who was admitted electively for coronary bypass surgery, postoperatively developed an acute respiratory illness, and tested positive for MERS-CoV. 40 close contacts, all healthcare workers, were traced and followed with no documented secondary cases.

Background: Juvenile psammomatoid ossifying fibroma (JPOF) is a rare fibro-osseous lesion that usually occurs in the facial bones. The pathognomonic histopathologic feature is the presence of spherical ossicles, which are similar to psammoma bodies. It is considered to be a unique lesion because of its reported tendency to occur in children and adolescents and its tendency for locally aggressive growth.
