Adenosine deaminase (ADA) deficiency is one of the most prevalent forms of severe combined immunodeficiency and results in the accumulation of toxic substrates which creates a systemic metabolic disease. It predisposes patients to the development of malignancies, most commonly lymphoma. We report an 8-month-old infant with ADA deficient severe combined immunodeficiency who developed progressive liver dysfunction and hepatocellular carcinoma after successful hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.

COVID-19 is a viral infection caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) that killed a large number of patients around the world. A hyperinflammatory state resulting in a cytokine storm and adult respiratory distress syndrome seems to be the major cause of the death. Many mechanisms have been suggested in the pathogenesis of COVID-19 associated cytokine storm (COVID-CS).

Nephrogenic syndrome of inappropriate antidiuresis (NSIAD) is an X-linked disease caused by activating mutations in the arginine vasopressin (AVP) receptor-2 () gene. Affected patients excrete concentrated urine despite very low levels of AVP, and consequently develop euvolemic hyponatremia. Due to its low frequency, patients may be misdiagnosed and treated incorrectly.
