Medical devices and materials commonly used in management of common gynecological conditions or during surgical procedures may present with acute or chronic complications due to incorrect application, improper use and lack of follow up. We present two interesting cases highlighting this problem. A strong index of suspicion is very crucial in early diagnosis and successful management.

Retention of Knowledge and Efficacy of a Hands-on Training Session in Oxygen Therapy for COVID-19 among Healthcare Workers.

Introduction: We conducted basic hands-on training in oxygen therapy and ventilatory management of coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) patients to health care workers (HCWs) at our tertiary care hospital. We designed this study aiming to find out the impact of hands-on training in oxygen therapy for COVID-19 patients on the knowledge and degree of retention of this gained knowledge 6 weeks after the training session among HCWs.

Sugammadex Neostigmine for Reversal of Neuromuscular Blockade in Adults and Children: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials.

Background: Cholinesterase inhibitors, such as neostigmine and edrophonium, commonly used to reverse the residual effects of nondepolarizing neuromuscular blocking drugs at the end of surgery are associated with a high rate of residual neuromuscular blockade (NMB). Due to its direct mechanism of action, sugammadex is associated with rapid and predictable reversal of deep NMB. The current analysis compares the clinical efficacy and risk of postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) on using sugammadex or neostigmine for routine NMB reversal in adult and pediatric populations.

Prognostic significance of soft tissue deposits in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Soft tissue deposits, also known as tumour deposits (TDs), have not been studied well in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) and are not included in any of the staging systems or treatment guidelines. The aim of this systematic review was to determine the prevalence and prognostic implications of TDs in patients with HNSCC. This systematic review of the literature was conducted following the PRISMA guidelines.

Topical oxygen therapy in acute traumatic musculoskeletal wounds of the foot and ankle.

Objective: To quantify the reduction in wound size and change in wound quality following low-cost topical oxygen therapy (TOT) in patients with acute traumatic musculoskeletal wounds of the foot and ankle.

Method: This prospective interventional study included patients with acute traumatic musculoskeletal wounds of the foot and ankle of <3 weeks' duration after they had undergone debridement and required subsequent wound coverage. A sterile C-Arm cover was used to cover the wound and 100% oxygen was administered at 1 atm, at a rate of 10l/min for 90 minutes on each of four consecutive days, through a suction catheter connected to an oxygen cylinder.

Background: It has been established that identity of the trial leadership plays a role in the conduct of the trial. An estimation of the gender composition of RCT leadership in India has not been undertaken. We performed this study to quantify the gender composition of first authors of RCTs published from India for the years 2011 to 2020.

Here, we evaluated the efficacy of the NFIS and needle injection system (NIS) for the delivery and immunogenicity of DNA vaccine candidate ZyCoV-D in rhesus macaques against SARS-CoV-2 infection. Briefly, 20 rhesus macaques were divided into 5 groups (4 animals each), that is, I (1 mg dose by NIS), II (2 mg dose by NIS), III (1 mg dose by NFIS), IV (2 mg dose by NFIS) and V (phosphate-buffer saline [PBS]).

Iron Profile in Term Small for Gestational Age Infants at 10 Weeks of Age and Correlation With Maternal Iron Profile : A Prospective Cohort Study.

Background: Term small for gestational age (SGA) babies are at risk for developing iron deficiency anemia. The association between maternal and infant iron stores is not clear.

Objective: To assess proportion of term SGA neonates developing iron deficiency anemia by 10 weeks of age, and measure correlation between iron profile and hepcidin of babies at birth and at 10 weeks of age with maternal iron profile.

Spectral Domain Optical Coherence Tomography Findings in Vision-Threatening Rhino-Orbital Cerebral Mucor Mycosis-A Prospective Analysis.

Rhino-orbital cerebral mucor mycosis is a rare disease entity, where retinal involvement is described in the literature mostly as CRAO. However, pathological studies have shown mucor invading the choroid and retina with a neutrophilic reaction. So, it is pertinent that retinal inflammation secondary to invading mucor has some role in microstructural changes seen in the vitreous and retina of these patients.
