Heavy metal pollution has complex impacts on terrestrial ecosystems, affecting biodiversity, trophic relationships, species health, and the quality of natural resources. This study aims to validate a non-invasive method for detecting heavy metals (Cd, As, Zn, Cu, Cr) in micromammalian prey, which constitute the primary diet of the common genet (), a mesocarnivore sensitive to habitat degradation. By focusing on prey remains (hair and bones) rather than entire fecal samples, this approach leverages the genet's selective feeding habits to assess the bioaccumulation of contaminants in its preferred prey.

This paper introduces the power new XLindley (PNXL) distribution, a novel two-parameter distribution derived using the power transformation method applied to the XLindley distribution. We thoroughly explore the structural properties of the PNXL distribution, including the th moment about the origin, moment generating function, survival rate function, distribution function, hazard rate function, skewness, kurtosis, and coefficient of variation. Additionally, we derive the quantile function, fuzzy reliability, reliability measures, stochastic ordering, and actuarial measures for this new distribution.

Microwave-assisted hydrothermal extraction (MAHE) was optimized using a Box-Behnken design (BBD) of the response surface methodology (RSM) for optimal recovery of pectin from tangerine peel (TPP). The effects of three factors (pH, irradiation time and temperature) on extraction yield (EY), galacturonic acid content (GAC) and degree of esterification (DE) of pectin were investigated. The optimal extraction conditions were as follows: pH 1.

We explored the pressure-induced structural phase transitions and elastic properties of AuMTe (M = Ga, In) using the full-potential linearized augmented plane wave method within the framework of density functional theory, applying both generalized gradient and local density approximations. Thermodynamic properties were further assessed through the quasi-harmonic model. We determined the transition pressures for the phase shift from the chalcopyrite structure to the NaCl rock-salt phase in both AuGaTe and AuInTe.

This paper describes the microplastic problems on five sandy beaches along the Skikda coastline (southwestern Mediterranean, northeastern Algeria), defining their magnitudes, spatial-temporal distributions, shapes, polymer types, impacts, and potential sources. The data presented in this study were collected during two field surveys in May (spring) and September (autumn/fall) of 2019. Overall, the average abundance of microplastics across all beaches was 6174 items/m in spring and 6183 items/m in autumn, representing the highest level of MPs ever reported in Algeria.

Lidocaine (LDC) is one of the most important local anaesthesia compounds (LAs), designated to treat acute and chronic pain, especially in clinical applications. In the purpose to improve its lower solubility and bioavailability, numerous researches have been conducted to study the exact mode of association between the LDC molecule and cyclodextrins as drug carriers. Although, the reported structural details on LDC/β-CD and LDC/HP-β-CD inclusion complexes remain largely unexplored.

In this paper, we have attempted a theoretical calculation of some plant-isolated compounds as potential inhibitors of oxidative stress and Advanced Glycation Endproducts (AGEs). Herein, theoretical reactivity indices based on the CDFT theory were computed to explore the reactivity of five isolated products from Global reactivity indices based on HOMO and LUMO energy such as electronic chemical potential, hardness, electrophilicity and the local reactivity descriptors Parr function, molecular electrostatic potentials(MEP), electrostatic potential (ESP) and thermodynamic parameters for the studied compounds are computed and discussed using DFT method and two functionals B3LYP and CAM-B3LYP with 6-31 G(d,p) basis set. The free radical scavenging activity mechanisms (HAT, SET-PT, and SPLET) of some of the isolated products with DPPH are also presented in this work.

Biodegradation poses a challenge for environmentalists and scientific community, offering a potential solution to the plastic waste problem. This study aims to investigate the biological degradation of low-density polyethylene (LDPE) bags by a fungus in both batch and continuous cultures, with the goal of identifying an eco-friendly and cost-effective waste management strategy. The fungal strain Rhizopus arrhizus SLNEA1, isolated from a landfill located in northeastern Algeria, was tested for its capability to degrade LDPE films and utilize them as a sole carbon source in batch (α-LDPE) and continuous (γ-LDPE) cultures.

The aim of this research is to investigate novel compositions of oxyfluoride glasses doped with Neodymium (Nd) rare earth ions in the visible spectrum. This area has not been extensively studied in the existing literature, so it is vital to understand the favorable photoluminescence characteristics within this part of the electromagnetic spectrum. Therefore, we synthesized and characterized SiO-PbO-PbF (SPF) doped with 1% neodymium (Nd) ions glasses.

Frailty models are important for survival data because they allow for the possibility of unobserved heterogeneity problem. The problem of heterogeneity can be existed due to a variety of factors, such as genetic predisposition, environmental factors, or lifestyle choices. Frailty models can help to identify these factors and to better understand their impact on survival.

The luminescence properties of erbium and yttrium co-doped cadmium difluoride with three different concentrations of yttrium were investigated. First, we synthesized single crystal samples with good optical quality using the Bridgman technique. From the optical absorption spectra, recorded at room temperature, both in the ultraviolet-visible and infrared spectral ranges, Judd-Ofelt analysis was performed based on yttrium concentrations to predict the radiative properties of Er luminescent ions.

The huge utilization of hydroxychloroquine in autoimmune infections led to an abnormal increment in its concentration in wastewater, which can pose a real risk to the environment, necessitating the development of a pretreatment technique. To do this, we are interested in researching how hydroxychloroquine degrades in contaminated water. The main goal of this investigation is to optimize the operating conditions for the sono-photodegradation of hydroxychloroquine in water using an ultrasound-assisted Fe(0)/ /UV system.

This paper describes a flexible strategy to access diethyl ((((-(2-chloroethyl)--nitrososulfamoyl)amino)arylmethyl) phosphonates, as aryl analogues of fotemustine. The new aryl sulfamidophosphonates prepared from 2-chloroethylamine were successfully obtained under eco-environmental conditions using ultrasound irradiation. These compounds did not produce the expected nitroso analogues of fotemustine after the nitrosation reaction but the corresponding sulfamates which were fully characterized.
