Physical activity (PA) provides great health benefits for people with spinal cord injury (SCI). Consequently, the design and implementation of PA interventions addressed to this population is needed. To rigorously evaluate these interventions, the use of valid and comprehensive PA measures is crucial.

The document provides a comprehensive overview of the diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment of anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody-associated vasculitis (AAV) with renal involvement, focusing on granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA) and microscopic polyangiitis (MPA). It outlines the definitions, clinical presentation, histopathological classification, monitoring strategies, induction and maintenance treatments, as well as special considerations for relapsing, refractory, and frail patients with renal AAV. The document was prepared by the Catalan Group for the Study of Glomerular Diseases (GLOMCAT), which comprises nephrologists with extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of AAV patients.

Even though anti-PD-1/PD-L1 immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) have improved survival, a high percentage of patients still do not respond to ICIs. Myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) are circulating cells that express PD-L1 and can infiltrate and proliferate in the tumor microenvironment, inducing immunosuppression. By evaluating changes in PD-L1 expression of live peripheral blood MDSCs, we are able to define a new PD-L1 index, useful in predicting ICI escape in NSCLC patients before initiating anti-PD-1/PD-L1 immunotherapy.

Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is a highly aggressive subtype with limited therapeutic options, leading to higher relapse rates and mortality. Identifying prognostic biomarkers like caveolin-1 (CAV1) is crucial for personalized treatment. CAV1 influences tumor progression and chemotherapy response, particularly through its interaction with the tumor microenvironment (TME) and cancer metabolism.

Objetive: To evaluate the frequency and timing of sustained drug-free remission (SDFR) in patients with giant cell arteritis (GCA) and to identify potential predictive factors of this outcome.
Methods: Retrospective review of all patients included in the large Spanish multicentre registry for GCA (ARTESER) with at least two years of follow-up. SDFR was defined as the absence of typical signs, symptoms, or other features of active GCA for ≥12 months after discontinuation of treatment.

Introduction: Treatment with nonresorbable antibiotics is effective in diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome (IBS-D). Multimatrix (MMX) formulations ensure targeted drug delivery to the mid-distal small bowel and colon-traditionally considered the origin of IBS symptoms. To assess the efficacy of rifamycin SV-MMX for the treatment of IBS-D.

Background: Postoperative intracranial neurosurgical infections (PINI) complicate < 5% neurosurgeries. Scarce attention was dedicated to the extension and characteristics of its antimicrobial management considering their high morbidity, not negligible mortality, delayed hospital stay and increased healthcare costs.
Methods: We analyzed retrospectively (2014-2023) 162 PINI from eight Spanish third-level academic hospitals.

Introduction: There is a growing number of people with HIV who are aged 50 years or older, and the prevalence of loneliness and social isolation remains unknown.
Methods: A multicentre study was conducted across 22 GeSIDA centres. A survey was carried out to assess loneliness [UCLA 3-item Loneliness Scale-3 (UCLA-3)] and social isolation [Lubben Social Network Scale-Revised (LSNS-R)], along with sociodemographic aspects, HIV-related factors, comorbidities, tobacco, alcohol and drug consumption, quality of life, anxiety and depression, and stigma.

Given the increasing concern about antimicrobial resistance among the microorganisms that cause infections in our society, there is an urgent need for new drug discovery. Currently, this process involves testing many low-quality compounds, resulting from the testing, on mammal models, which not only wastes time, resources, and money, but also raises ethical questions. In this review, we have discussed the potential of as an intermediary experimental model in this drug discovery timeline.

Background: Age at thelarche has decreased over recent decades. This change in female puberty timing may be influenced by exposure to endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) during critical periods of development.
Objective: To review the scientific literature for evidence on the association of exposure to EDCs and other environmental chemicals with the timing of thelarche in girls.

In patients diagnosed with B-acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL) or B-non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (B-NHL) relapsing after allogeneic stem cell transplantation (allo-HCT), it is a standard practice to perform anti-CD19 chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy. When collected from the patient after allo-HCT, the produced CAR-T cells are likely to be donor T-cell-derived, creating unknown safety risks due to their potential allo-reactivity. We therefore performed an EBMT registry-based study on the incidence of graft-versus-host disease (GvHD) in this setting.
