Aortic sarcoma: a challenging diagnosis.

Sarcomas of the aorta are rare tumours with various clinical presentations. The most common symptoms are embolic events, constitutional symptoms, claudication, abdominal complaints, aneurysm/pseudoaneurysm, back pain and hypertension. We present a case of a woman in her early 60s having fever, fatigue and cough for 3 months.

Distribution and 24-hour transition of SCAI shock stages and their association with 30-day mortality in acute myocardial infarction.

The Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI) shock classification has been shown to predict mortality in acute myocardial infarction (AMI). However, data on the transition of SCAI stages and their association with mortality after AMI are limited. All patients with AMI admitted to Vietnam National Heart Institute between August 2022 and February 2023 were classified into SCAI stages A, B, and C/D/E at admission and were reevaluated in 24 hours.

Leptin and interleukin-1β levels associated with osteoarthritis in Vietnamese patients: a cross-sectional analysis.

Leptin and interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β) are two extensively studied biomarkers associated with metabolic syndrome (MetS) and osteoarthritis (OA). Previous studies have mostly focused on either MetS or OA alone, with no available data on Vietnamese patients. This study aimed to investigate the levels of leptin and IL-1β in this patient population and explore their association with clinical parameters of MetS and OA.

A woman in her 40s went to the hospital due to persistent headaches. On physical examination, a diastolic murmur in the third sternal intercostal space was the only finding. Echocardiograms were performed, revealing moderate aortic regurgitation and heterogeneously echoreflectant masses of variable shape with no independent mobility, mainly located on the ventricular side of the coaptation point of the three aortic cusps.

Role of β-blockers in the cardiovascular disease continuum: a collaborative Delphi survey-based consensus from Asia-Pacific.

Objective: This Delphi method of consensus was designed to develop scientific statements for β-blockers in the continuum of cardiovascular diseases with a special focus on the role of bisoprolol.

Methods: Eleven experienced cardiologists from across the Asia-Pacific countries participated in two rounds of the survey. In the first round, experts were asked to rate agreement/disagreement with 35 statements across seven domains regarding the use of β-blockers for treating hypertension, heart failure, coronary artery diseases, co-morbidities, as well as their safety profile, usage pattern, and pharmacokinetic variability.

Background: The prevalence and risk factors of atrial fibrillation (AF) in patients with transient ischemic attack (TIA) or ischemic stroke in Northern Vietnam are not well understood. This study aimed to estimate the prevalence and identify factors associated with AF in this population.

Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 2038 consecutive patients with TIA or ischemic stroke admitted to Bach Mai Hospital.

We aimed to evaluate the implementation of these policies within health facilities across Vietnam.

Development of a prediction model for emergency medical service witnessed traumatic out-of-hospital cardiac arrest: A multicenter cohort study.

Background/purpose: To develop a prediction model for emergency medical technicians (EMTs) to identify trauma patients at high risk of deterioration to emergency medical service (EMS)-witnessed traumatic cardiac arrest (TCA) on the scene or en route.

Methods: We developed a prediction model using the classical cross-validation method from the Pan-Asia Trauma Outcomes Study (PATOS) database from 1 January 2015 to 31 December 2020. Eligible patients aged ≥18 years were transported to the hospital by the EMS.

The impact of early rehabilitation in intensive care unit for COVID-19 patients.

Purpose: To evaluate the impact of early rehabilitation in intensive care unit (ICU) on the survival and functional outcomes of COVID-19 patients admitted to ICU at acute phase.

Materials And Methods: We conducted a prospective quasi-experimental study including 346 eligible COVID-19 patients from all admitted cases in an ICU in Vietnam, divided into three groups: no rehabilitation ( = 32), late rehabilitation ( = 109), and early rehabilitation ( = 205). Baseline characteristics and survival information of patient were collected with BORG-CR10 scale and PFIT; the data were collected at different time points: before intervention, when switching to oxygen-therapy, and at discharge.

1 Year-follow-up of transforaminal surgical approach in the management of migrated disc herniation: a cross-sectional study.

Unlabelled: Transforaminal percutaneous endoscopic lumbar discectomy (TPELD) recently confirms its superiority compared to typical open discectomy in the treatment of very high-grade migrated disk herniation. In Vietnam, this technique has been applied in recent years; however; lack of reports and evidence.

Objectives: In this study, the authors would like to share their surgical experience and report the initial results in their center, after successfully performing TPELD for very high-grade migrated disk herniation in 40 patients.

Objective: Asia is experiencing a demographic shift toward an aging population at an unrivaled rate. This can influence the characteristics and outcomes of trauma. We aim to examine different characteristics of older adult trauma patients compared to younger adult trauma patients and describe factors that affect the outcomes in Asian countries.

The aim of the present study was to determine Kirsten Ras sarcoma virus () mutations and the associations of mutations with clinicopathological features and treatment outcomes in Vietnamese non-polyp colon cancer (NPCC) patients. The data in the present study covered 194 patients with non-polyp colon cancers at stages II or III, according to the 8th edition of the American Joint Committee on Cancer staging system, in northern Vietnam from January 2016 to August 2020. All patients underwent radical surgery and adjuvant therapy with FOLFOX4 or XELOX.

Background: Stroke recurrence and disability are important challenges to overcome in patients with minor ischemic stroke. The aim of our study was to determine the factors associated with unfavorable outcomes in patients with minor ischemic stroke.

Methods: This was a prospective cohort study including patients with minor ischemic stroke with a National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) score ≤ 4 who were treated at the Bach Mai Hospital stroke center from June 15, 2021, to September 15, 2022.

Purpose Of Review: In idiopathic inflammatory myopathies (IIMs), interstitial lung disease (ILD) is common and the autoantibody profile, made up of myositis-specific and myositis-associated (MSA and MAA) antibodies, can predict the clinical phenotype and progression over time. This review will focus on the characteristics and management of antisynthetase syndrome related ILD and anti-MDA5 positive ILD, which are the most clinically relevant subtypes.

Recent Findings: The prevalence of ILD in IIM has been estimated in Asia, North America and Europe at 50, 23 and 26%, respectively, and is increasing.
